It is always said too much of anything is bad for you. Whether that be studying or playing games, excessively doing something usually results in some kind of negative impact. Could the same be said for watching too much anime, could you be effected by it? We are going to ignore eyesight as that’s obvious for most activities.

I dont think its wrong we all have our things that we do too much, the real thing is if you dont do the other neccesary things in your life or if you forget the most important things like the family or friends or studies or the work. What is important for you is first i guess, you can do everything you want if you still stay focused on what is important.

No, anime is the healthiest thing in the world and you should do nothing but watch anime your whole life.

The people with many days / hundreds of shows watched are the same ones complaining about various health and mental issues and having no friends or anybody to have sex with. It is possible to watch anime and have a social life but the people that I am talking about only watched subbed anime and never multitask. They have only themselves to blame. Anime should be watched dubbed in the background while you do other things. Or watched subbed but not all day just watch 1 - 3 episodes per day and then do something else. Balanced life.

It can be. In the past I definitely watched WAY too much anime. I think I was watching ~ 30-40 episodes a day. It went on for about a month or so. This was also about 4 years ago and I’ve definitely been able to manage and not have it consume too much of my time anymore. I think if you’re able to function in every day life, work, school and you don’t see anime as trying to fill a void and you truly find enjoyment, then by all means it’s not unhealthy. We find other things that distract us and take our time but if you genuinely feel good then I don’t see the problem.

It is not because someone watched anime the reason they became dysfunctional. That state existed already before they started anime and consuming media just prolongs it, also combined with the fact that anime and manga also target that population segment for more profits

Too much of anything is unhealthy. That's why it's called "too much", instead of just "much".

As long as watching anime doesn't interfere with your responsibilities I see no problem. Having different activities to do everyday is healthier though in my opinion.

It can be, but I think as long as you still have time for your other hobbies, exercise, work/education and family/friends then I think it is fine.

Doing too much of any one thing is unhealthy in one way or another.

What @Seijatachiiii said since we're literally thinking the same thing, coincidentally, hive-minding and shit.

Yes, too much of anything can be bad for us. Anything that is used continuously to escape reality can in fact make connecting with reality even more complicated and difficult.

That said, anime can also serve as being a time of relaxation and anime can also serve as being informative and inserting wisdom into us.

There was a time when I'd watch a complete 12-13 episode anime in one sitting. Now I'd probably do that amount in two sittings (two separate days to complete that one 12-13 episode anime)

I find six episodes of anime to be my limit nowadays, because I find moderating where my time is spent into each of my activities makes each one more enjoyable, and I don't burn out with any of them as quick.

For instance, if I started an anime, and felt that I wasn't getting into it, I'd stop after the first episode. If I felt I wasn't getting into it after episode 1, I'd watch a total of 3 episodes. If I wasn't getting burnt out until after 3 episodes, I'd watch a total of 6. I also take into account that there's more to life than just anime. There's music, gaming, drawing, exercise, spending time with family and friends, etc. So I moderate where all my time goes into each activity throughout the day, even though I get into each of these activities (anime included) on a daily bases.

If you spend all your free time watching and talking about anime then yes its unhealthy. Especially if it causes you to miss out on your obligations like work, education and family.

Like with most things in life, balance is key. I probably watch around 2-4 episodes a day and I've found that to be a happy mix. On the other hand, watching too much can fuck your schedule up pretty bad. For instance, my friend watched something like 30 episodes of naruto in one day and didn't sleep. Another one of my friends finished one piece in an entire summer. Activity like this is obviously unhealthy because it screws with your schedule and takes time away from key social interactions.
