Yeah, the ending for me is an integral part of the show, so it is quite possible for my opinion of it to do a complete 180.

Nope not at all. If I enjoyed the rest of the anime the ending doesn't really matter, but it does affect my rating and opinion on the anime. I usually give it a 7/10 if the rest was good but the ending was bad. Example: The Lost Village.

Generally speaking, I would say no, it probably doesn't ruin the entire thing, but it might count against it.

Though how much it would count against may depend on why I didn't like the ending.

e.g. NGE (before the film) had an "ending" that I think most people would agree felt rushed. I would have to deduct points for that.

I may not like the ending for the Madoka movie because it wasn't the ending I wished for, but I might not deduct point for it, or deduct very little because I can not objectively say that it is actually a bad ending, only one that I can't embrace at all.

But I can't think on top of my head an anime where I enjoyed the ride yet the ending alone made me hate the series completely. Maybe it exist but I just sealed that memory away though :) [It would have to be reaaaally frustrating]

Romance? Yes
Other than that? No

All I hope for a romance is a good relationship not a bad ending.

Normally it doesn't, however there are exceptions. Certain types of shows are reliant on the conclusion like mystery or love triangle romances. So when a show like Erased or White Album 2 decide to go the route they do, yeah they do end up ruining any memories I have of the entire show. Especially Erased, because before the villain reveal I actually loved the show a lot.

It definitely leaves a sour taste in my mouth that i'm not able to get rid of. Because then whenever I think about that show, my mind will instantly jump to the ending and i'll remember how much I disliked it. So maybe not 'ruin', but it definitely affects my view of it as a whole.

A bad ending doesn't ruin the anime for me per say, but it certainly tends to help lower my score for it.

"Ruin" the entire show is a strong word, but yeah it bothers a lot most of the time, especially if the anime was awesome until the last 2-3 episodes.

A good example is Parasyte, the show was pretty solid, but the last 2 or 3 episodes were bland and without purpose.

Bad endings ruin a lot of excellent shows and will make everyone just furious. Not just Anine. GoT had it coming for three seasons but no one could imagine the show would as crappily as it did. It didn't matter that the show had five excellent seasons in the beginning. That ending absolutely ruined it for me. Death Note was an Anime that also crash landed and Kado The Right Answer as well as Sing Yesterday for Me just made me throw up my hands in disgust. Long story short answer. Absolutely. A bad ending can ruin everything.

I still don't know what the point of the final episode was. It felt so useless and meaningless.

I guess no. I liked Erased even though many said the ending ruined it and I don't get why. I guess it is because Hinazuki did not end up with Satoru. But I mean I get why. Why would you safe yourself for a person who is in coma and woke up after 15 years or so.

a bad ending doesnt necessarily mean that the whole anime is ruined. tbh when i experience a bad ending, i dont feel like i wasted my time, i feel more disappointed.

"Does a 'bad' ending ruin the entire anime for you?"

Does it end meaningfully? I'm ok with the entire cast of a show dying if the show was meaningful because of it, even if I loved the cast of the show.

Yes of course, the whole series has led up to the ending...I didn't watch this whole time for an ending that is ass.

No, the entire anime isn't bad just because the ending is.
The only exception to that rule for me is Parasyte.

Bad endings do ruin the chance of getting a 10, though. It might push what would be a 10 to a 9 or 8.

It isn't enough imo. If many people percieves an ending as a "bad" is because that anime was already bad from the beginning, most of the cases.

no it never does
BUT if starts off good but then it goes downhill on a very steep hill the 2nd half of the show then yes its ruins the entire anime for me

It definitely can if it's bad enough, yeah. The ending is an important thing where all the elements of the show are supposed to come together and be resolved in a satisfying manner and sometimes they are not.

A bad ending does ruin the anime. I will always remember the good times, but when thinking of the anime as a whole I will immediately remember how garbage the ending was. Also, I have a hard time loving something if it's ending is utter shit.

Ruin? no but it does impact my opinion of it heavily.
If its a 12 ep show and the last 2 eps blows then it's gonna hurt the show for me.

Yeah. In my opinion, a bad ending destroys almost everything good I thought the anime had, because I'm that person that likes to enjoy a story from start to end and make a memory of it, and a bad ending gives me an eternal thought of "so that's how it ended, what a waste".

To suggest that the ending accounts for a majority of a work's worth is utterly unreasonable. There are anime whose endings have disappointed me but I still consider them to be worth watching and even rewatching.

Berserk will never have a proper ending but it's still heralded as a masterpiece and the influence it had on media speaks for itself, and even if One Piece's ending manages to flop it's popularity won't diminish because the journey of it is what makes it special.

I think there's been one anime where I didn't like the ending, but it made me love that anime even more.

Whisper of the Heart is one where the ending felt a bit tagged-on and unsubtle but it doesn't make me hate the whole film. It's just a case of when the end approaches I start thinking 'I wish they'd left it at this point'.

A bad ending is a serious degree one problem that can decrease the overall score of the show by multiple points , but I can't say it ruins the whole thing tbf

No it doesn't, it would even barely affect my enjoyment, unless the ending is a 180 degree turn and I might still like it due to the controversy.

Absolutely. The ending is part of the show. It's where the rest of the story is leading to. If it sucks, then all the work going into it was for naught.

bad ending or "BADLY WRITTEN ENDING" there is the difference between the two,bad ending/tragic ending is good as long as it make sense and well written and executed, but badly written ending is bad no matter what is the start of the series.

like what happened to AOT,that is the badly written ending, which is really bad,it doesnt matter how good the start is if its become completely meaningless.

Taking example of akame ga kill, they called it one with a tragic/bad ending since all the mcs were long dead. Personally i found it as a reference to game of thrones, where their deaths carried an impact and enjoyed the whole show. [read got than watch] AGK was my starter anime. <3

Not really. Even if an ending leaves a bad taste in my mouth, it wouldn't really ruin my enjoyment of a certain anime.
