it's got surpassed this year tho by demon slayer. kinda sad but doesn't matter at all since OP was aiming at Batman for quite some time. it needs just a tiny bit to buttfuck him and move on to surperman.

This is the never-ending One Piece were talking about here, the Disney of Japan basically. Even if Demon Slayer does overtake it, it's going to be short-lived just like every series that ever did lol

It is a bit easy to gather data on manga sold vs popular anime. I can start digging out that data for the video if you know what to look for :)

I did look at my myanimelist and look at fans numbers but I would like to see yearly/quarterly data to make a video like the above.

Kimetsu no Yaiba has a pretty generic story. Even though the anime is great, the manga should not be able to top one piece for long. Lol

What about the light novel category though? That goes pretty neglected. I think SAO is still the leader in novels like One Piece in mangas over the years.

as far as generic goes, kimetsu opens with a family massacre and protagonists whose only goal was to help his sister im not sure about other genres but kimetsu doesn't have a conventional plot for a shounen to emphasize so much on tragedy, whereas one piece seems more generic being about adventures.
