Girls und Panzer -- Tongue-in-cheek gem featuring girls and their WWII tanks. It's actually a sports anime. Nodame Cantabile -- Great leads & supporting cast; great music; lotsa laughs. So Ra No Wo To -- Unique setting, post-apoc slice of life. Fantastic OST. Ep.1 OP |

Now, having said that it's a pre-quel if you are interested in the whole franchise there's something to be said for watching the first season of the TV series (Ep. 1-27 or even just the first 10 episodes or so) and then watch the backstory. Reason being to preserve an aura of mystery about Kenshin's past while they drop hints about his bloody past, etc. Like, why all these people keep showing up trying to mess with him, etc. Just keep in mind that if the TV series comes off as too silly or whatever the OVA is cut from different cloth altogether. Either way works :) |
