Idk where else to put this but is Tokyo ghoul better as an anime or manga? I’ve watched all 12 episodes and I’m starting Root A, but I want to know if the manga is worth reading after? Any thoughts? Thanks!

I haven't read it, but it would be hard to be much worse than the anime adaptation.

Yes, I'm saying that the show is bad. Root A and the two seasons of Tokyo Ghoul Re are all generally considered worse than the first season. (Granted I haven't watched Tokyo Ghoul Re)

Ok I’ll stop watching it. But what about the Manga?

Heard that the TGre: manga is slightly weaker than the TG manga, but good overall.

I think the Manga is worlds apart from the anime. The 1st season is pretty good, granted, but the rest is just bad pacing and not really creating the same atmosphere as the 1st season did.

So yeah read manga!

One of the worst adaptations in history... The series can be summarized like so...

Season 1: Ah yah know it's really fast paced and misses some shit but it ain't that bad...

Season 2: Hey wait... What're you doing?... I don't like this...

Season 3: Please stop this... No... Oh god what's happening

Season 4: -Static noises-

*****
Save yourself the trouble, cringe and physical pain... Just read it... It's absolutely amazing~

I thought the first season of the anime was alright, it had some good animation and music imo and decent pacing. I never liked the ending to the first manga, I feel that is when the series started going downhill.

Tokyo Ghoul Re: manga is just terrible, bad art, poor writing and too dragged out. Fans usually prefer the manga, especially with this series so you may end up liking it more than I did. Most people would probably disagree with me, but I think the first season of the anime is the only part of the series worth mentioning.

Tokyo Ghoul √A is more like an original source and it's awful so save the trouble and read the manga it's pretty good

First season is decent, second season changed A LOT of the original manga. So if you liked the first season, but the second not so much, you might still want to check the manga.
Tokyo ghoul manga, i liked it, not the greatest out there, but i quite enjoyed it.
Tokyo ghoul re was good until halfway through, i was into it, cause i had just finished the first one, but the second half i felt like i was forcing myself to finish.
I did not like the last arc of tokyo ghoul re (manga), but i have not watched the anime, i felt like had already wasted too much time on this.

I haven't seen :Re yet, but I became a believer of the manga gospel after about chapter 85. I think what Tokyo Ghoul fundamentally suffers from is that each season needed just a few more episodes to spell out much needed context. Making each season 14-18 episodes would have gone a much longer way in delivering the story as it should have been.

Of course, anime seldom deviates from seasonal episode counts (12-13, 24-26, 48-52, etc), so perhaps asking for the necessary episodes over a status quo business model is the ultimate pipe dream.

Season One of Tokyo Ghoul is the only good season. I haven't seen Re: yet, however, I've seen pretty much only negative reviews from it. Save yourself the time and watch Parasyte instead of the second season. It has a similar premise, but has a far better execution.

Manga is definitely better especially after season1...as s1 almost stays faithful to the manga but root a really made a lotta changes to the original story due to which once you start re it fells totally disconnected. Manga is more in depth while anime feels rushed.
So yeah manga>anime

Alright, here is the rundown. Tokyo Ghoul s1 is a good adaptation, as for the rest of the seasons all I can say there is some reedeming qualities. These qualities have to mostly do with the music and some action scenes. However, the manga is miles ahead of the anime in quality storytelling and development. So, the manga is definitely worth the read even if you are an anime only person. For the anime blame studio Perriot.

The anime gets crappier as you advance from the first season to the next. Though the manga is superb. You should go for the manga but if you don’t have enough time you should just watch the anime

the manga is a thousand times better than the anime. the anime skipped so many key parts and messed up the symbolism of specific things and such. the pacing was horrible.

The show became really a shit..
After the 1st season everyone was hooked to the show ...but the second season ruined everything even though hopes were alive for next season.
BUT NOW AFTER THE NEXT TWO SEASON.ITS ALL DEAD ...to put it simply it was waste of time to watch Tokyo Ghoul.....

i have read the manga and watched all the Tokyo Ghoul anime adaptions, i can tell you that the manga tells a better story than the anime does. Even the characters are well potrayed through the manga than the anime. Tbh i really dislike the Tokyo Ghoul adaptation and didn't quite enjoy it at all (only the first season LMAO). MANGA 100% BETTER THAN THE ADAPTATIONS.

The anime had potential to be good. It only concerned itself with presenting you the overall story instead of going in deep. If you liked the anime, then switch to the manga and finish the story.

The final story arc was very underwhelming given its "buildup" (or lack thereof), so it doesn't matter if you choose to go with the anime or manga, lol. It's going to be the same thing.

However, the manga does a much better job at explaining the powers and backstories of the characters, so may be something to keep a lookout for if you liked the characters.

I watched all the anime and read all the manga and I gotta say the anime was decent to good but the manga was 100x better. There's so much more detail and story that they changed or cut from the manga when they adapted it.

Manga is a far lot better, especially because this is seinen manga which more focused on Kaneki psychological than battle action like shonen.

Both are bad.
Manga loses its way on half and the ending is rushed like the anime as there was so many plotholes assupulled in last chapter.
You also need to explain the edgyness + incomprehensible pages during the fight on most chapter.

Anime only good on first season after that, no sane person would actually rate it more than 7 and TGre should way below 5.

The manga is better, providing more development for most of its characters cause the arcs are there, a lot of the franchise mysteries are explained there, which you won't find in the anime, which either alters or skips its storyline to the point the anime and manga are like two different stories.

manga is 1000x better than the anime. the first season is okay at being consistent with the flow of the story but still leaves out a lot of important plot points and events.

second season is completely anime-only and is p shit

and then there's :re. i'd honestly rather have another root a than whatever this joke was. it was an absolute shit show.

both manga are two of my favorites and if you want the actual story of ken kaneki, read the manga. you won't regret it. however the last arc of :re is really rushed but it's still a good story.
