| It looks to me that most sports anime don't do well these days. The genre just isn't that popular the last years. Maybe we see a change in a couple of years. But by that time, Megalo Box may very well be a hidden gem. |

| I mean, this is more or less going to have the same fate a lot of other seasonals that are generally considered good have had. Respected but kind of forgotten, maybe on the verge of becoming a recognized classic at some point but turning into a cult favorite instead. This is only more blatant in this case because there was a lot of hype around it that ended up toned down while the show was airing and specially in its last episodes. |

| Well this pretty much happens with like 90% of all seasonals, which are forgotten the moment the season ends and the next one starts. This has become the anime cycle of the past decade because viewership switched from anime watchers to anime "consumers". It wouldn't be anything new or special. |
| Current seasonals are pretty much all being forgotten, unless they have long running, and popular source material, and sequels comming up. |
| Honestly, I blame the final episode for that. This is would definitely would be one of my favorite shows of the year, but that final episode made me feel it was just a good ride. But it's still at my 10th position right now |

| The trouble is it's not 1999 anymore. Now we're getting 50 new simulcasts every 3 months and even a masterpiece like Megalo Box is getting lost in the shuffle. |

| Sad to see such overrated anime with ratings 8+ then an actual quality anime that isn't made that often is sitting at a 7. I have a list of cult picks / hidden gems. Now because of this i'm going to double check it to make sure Megalo Box is on it. |
