But atleast it can run some old games or light games and i can use it for something, like what am i doing rn, even though it's very limited lol. what about ya? what do you use it for? |

As of now, on my 5+ year old laptop, there are extremely few chances that my fan will start but most of the time it's dead. Of course I can't do anything that much with dead fan, even just simple watching YouTube videos because it'll shutdown. Not to mention, this: I've been struggling with these black spots on my screen for years. Of course, buying a new PC wasn't my option because I don't have a job and if possible, I don't want to borrow my parents' money just to buy a new PC. To be frank, these black spots are bearable to me. However, the defective fan isn't. On January, I'll be studying again so I'll use my student loan for buying a new PC although that means I'll be going to sacrifice my meals. |

The possible reason is it could be dropping the laptop, stress on the screen as in putting heavy stuff on top of the cover, it could be heat excess as you mentioned the fans were not operating hence putting stress on the screen. -------------------------------------------- I bought my laptop back in 2013 and still using it as of now. Few months ago I have added in a SSD to add the essential programs and it is my main PC. For everything, from web browsing to anime and casual gaming. |

I see. Well, this is a 2nd hand laptop and there were already 3 black spots after I received this. I never put stuffs on top of the cover and my fan became defective just recently but the increase of black spots happened way before that like years ago that I couldn't remember. I just only assumed that this laptop is pretty much old anyway with tons of issues such as USB and audio/mic hubs on the right side aren't operable anymore, laptop keyboard and touchpad aren't working too, dead battery, etc. But I'm still using this for around 4 years. |

Some older laptops like my one, would require a driver to be able to work properly. You can find the drivers at your manufactures website and model |

So no matter how or which USBs I insert, the laptop will never read it. For now, everything is inserted on the left hub with external hub so I could use my USB keyboard, mouse, and headphones. Although the left hub is very sensitive too like if I budge the external hub just a little bit, it'll lost the connection. |

I use my PC for pretty much everything. Mostly I browse the Internet or watch youtube videos. But I do play some games, edit videos, 3D model, code etc. It's really old but it can still beat most i7 PC's in multicore performance. My graphics card is pretty bad, maybe I'll upgrade it to something better someday. Specs:

Mine's a refurbished potato. Can't even run Overwatch. The battery life is less than two hours unplugged. Going to get a new one before I start college. Intel HD Graphics Family, Windows 7, 4GB RAM. I basically just use it for stuff like MAL, YouTube, and watching anime, though I've been surprised by a few games I could run (Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, Skullgirls). |

I have two computers in use at the moment. The first one is my main gaming rig and has the following characteristics: And the second one is an Asus t102ha as shown below It only has an atom processor, 4 gigs in ram and 64 of internal HD, however it's absurdly useful when traveling or laying lazily on the bed and has the longest battery life of any laptop that I've owned to this point (Working as far as 14 hours of continuous MS word usage). I also keep another low-power computers around but most of those are dedicated to network security and routing (Firewall, honeypots, terminals, that kind of thing) And I'm currently looking into turning a motherboard with an i3 6100 that I cannibalized from my brother's PC (An i5 8400 with a gtx 1050 and 12 gigs in ram) into a home server. |

What I lack in performance I make up with numbers. I have about 9 or 10 PC-s, though most of them are retro. The oldest currently working one is an AMD based 386, the youngest retro build is a Core2 Quad Q6600 with 4GB RAM and a Geforce 8800 Ultra. And my everyday PC-s are boring though. One is strictly for work related stuff, it's a Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF with an i5-3470, the other is another older custom build (Phenom X6; 8GB RAM and an HD7850) which served me for the better part of the decade and will soon join the retro group and be replaced with a more up to date one. Likely a budget build since I don't play as much as I did when I bought this one. |

If you have a old/cost effective laptop or pc. I would say you should just switch to console gaming. Getting a console in 2018 is very cheap and effective. I don't see the point of gaming on PC if you're going to compromise so much by lowering settings to the point it looks like a ps2 game. I wouldn't do that to myself. I would say they're fine for browsing the internet and daily tasks, but for gaming nope. You're just torturing yourself my dude. |

I had to leave my gaming pc behind when I moved. At the moment I'm using an old old hand-me-down laptop that came with windows 7 and was forcefully upgraded to windows 10 which makes it unable to do most things. For example, any youtube video takes ~1 minute to load the actual page and another ~30 seconds to load the video. The previous owner was pretty technologically (?) illiterate so when it "looked different" and "slowed down" he decided to give it away and get a new one. Thinking of saving up and rebuilding my desktop, but this little hunk-o-junk will do in the meantime. |

I got a new laptop a few months back after my old one stopped functioning. Specs: Processor: i5-8250U RAM: 8GB DDR4 Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce 940MX Storage: 1 TB I basically bought the cheapest one available with those specs (which was still kind of costly for me) and I'm happy with it. All the applications I need run smoothly, game emulators work much better compared to my previous laptop (I only ever play VNs anyways), I can run 2 virtual machines simultaneously without much lag and making amvs/editing videos is much easier. |
