I screamed when Hitomi killed Nomoto, but there's a mysterious guy before the closing credits. So, this is me right now:

What the fuck. I need a 2nd season with the setting shown that there's a city for Therianthrope now in Tokyo. Jeez.

I hope that mysterious guy is Nomoto. Huhu. My fucking ship. My poor Hitomi x Nomoto. What the fuck, show. ;-;

What an action-packed ecchi anime. Glorious. 8/10. <3

Was he really gonna be that big of a problem, that they had no choise but to murder him? 'cus yea that makes total sense.
Well it's good to know that at the end of the day Hitomi is just Shidohs attack dog, who just follows orders regardless of her personal feelings.

just an opinion (I don't read the manga, so this is just my theory):
Shidoh had Nomoto killed, because Nomoto had a pull on Hitomi.
This means that, with time and the appropriate reason, Nomoto could have turned Shidoh's best killer against him.
So when she was still loyal to him, he ordered Hitomi herself to kill Nomoto, to make her feel guilty in a sort-of Stockholm syndrome, making her even more a pawn.

when Leo turned out to be the most evil motherfucker of the show my first thoughts were "damn, that's too far". still as someone earlier noticed - it made show more mature, brutal and raw. still you won't make whole series like that only because one scene (and put aside all gore and those weak attempts of all that sexual content earlier like that action with snake dude while he tried to bang Hitomi and her Cheetah friend - all of those scenes were weak and meaningless).

I can consent of the shock-factor to make the scene more brutal (and Leo more an evil motherfucker).
Also I'm not going into the "she deserved" that or not.
Yoko was the worst kind of human being, manipulating people like pawns with her money (or words, we should remember that she brainwashed the mental-impaired Pangolin), so her terrified face when she is threatened by Leo was rewarding, I didn't enjoy as much the following, but at least was amazingly drawn.
That said, Shidoh's faction had to "clean up" the remnants of the Mitsukado's power-holders, and I think Yoko didn't want to die, so being Leo pawn (the wheel turns) could still be better that the other option...
but I'd still like to point out that Yoko didn't even took out the shortest straw. I think the maid that was dragged in the bathroom by the snake, like in episode 5, had it worst (and with way less displeased reactions from viewers)...

While I think you aced his plan for Yoko, Leo had clearly stated many times that he thinks theriantropes are superior beings, so he is just a mindfucked supremacist, using "inferior beings" (hello, Yoko) as toys.
And on the other side, he is politely giving at least a "warning" to another superior being like him, before slashing her like a rag.

Also, I'd like to point out that Yoko for the whole series treats Nomoto (and other people as well) exactly like Leo treats humans. She is better because she has... daddy's money?

Boooi, the end with Nomoto and Hitomi got me all like, fuck why are they doing this with me? They went from all sweet, to wrecking my heart, damn, even teared up a bit, cause that fucking hurt. It waa suspicous that Hitomi called him out to that scrapyar, but that was still a wtf moment. Thanks God Nomoto is still alive. And the last segment is seriously calling screaming"Sequel".

Aside from that I lost my shit when Shidoh said that line with a straight face

we also seriously need the hentai OVA of this

while they're at it they can also add Cheetah and Cobra and Ui and the Chameleons as well

When all is said and done, only thing left is rate this series with 8/10. Easily the most underappreciated anime of Winter 18.

The girls were hot,the fights were hype and some scenes were comedy gold. This turned out way,way better than I could have ever hoped for.

Although clearly the show isnt a masterpiece, I'd still say with confidence that this was probably an underrated show this season. If only for the fact that adaptation wise it was pretty fucking faithful which seems to be rarer and rarer these days.

I will say I'm not caught up with whatever chapters are translated so far, but from where I had stopped it was almost a page for page adaptation. I respect that even more since when I saw the PV and a studio I never heard of I was expecting this to be the most low budget piece of shit anime original adaptation I've ever seen, and I was completely proven wrong.

And I was completely unfamiliar with the ending, but according to people who are caught up and have read the raws that was seemingly faithful to the manga material too. Plenty of spoiler/but not really spoilery stuff under the tags in this thread for people interested. I'm actually glad I clicked on them since it got me interested in catching up to the manga.

I find it kind of hilarious that Shidoh orders Nomoto to be killed because he would cause problems, but he was literally a nobody who lived alone and hardly knew anyone and had no political power or influence, just an apartment filled with money. Realistically what problems could he have possibly caused? He was also human, any therianthrope could've been sent to kill him at any time. If they had just left him be completely alone he would've never bothered anyone. It was by trying to kill him and having him come back that made him want to stop Shidoh out of revenge.

That Leo raping Yoko caught me a bit off guard there. I was actually expecting nice guy Nomoto to extend a hand of friendship to her when she was freaking the fuck out about her grandfather and shit. Definitely was not expecting the cat dicking.

Definitely wouldnt mind a second season since it sounds like the current manga material is pretty interesting. Hopefully this sells alright and also wasnt just a promo for the manga. Probably would've helped if it was a little more lewd in certain areas. Like probably just more tits would've helped. They had the porcupine girl show her tits in the beginning and that's literally it. Meanwhile you've got a shit load of girls in this show and literally every one of them has an insanely perfect body. I dont recall if the manga was more explicit, but its definitely something they should've taken advantage of, even maybe with those 2min BD specials or something similar with just nothing but lesbian fanservice.

Hitomi became even less likeable now for doing what she did. I don't like her for that. Anyways, I give this show an 6/10. Would watch again for a second season.

A season two depends on how much the studio can sell the fact that things get really interesting in it. If they assure everyone that this season was just setting the scene, then they could get it. You never know, the people that commissioned this in the first place may already know that this series was made just to set up the second.

That ended... a lot better than I thought it would. The ending genuinely hooked me in wanting to see exactly where this all goes. So Hitomi clearly has feelings for Nomoto, so much so she ignored an order from Shido himself and purposely let Nomoto live. I ship it.

So it looks like there was a two year timeskip according to the Oshie-chan short at the end. Nomoto is alive and is working with a cute highschooler and an emo chick. I actually like how diverse that team is, it makes for an interesting story. Nomoto has his newfound confidence and is out to get Hitomi/revenge. Like I said, I'm genuinely curious to see where it goes from here.

Still happy Rabbit won, she's so cute.

In the end this was better than I thought. Solid action sequences, great fanservice, and sexy women abound. Although there was plenty of cringe, contrivances, and lack of quality. The art style was especially attractive for the women.

Either a 6 or a 7 from me. Wouldn't mind a season two.

Honestly, If anyone paid any attention to the dialogue and character motivations. This wasn't' a betrayal as much as you could almost see it coming.

Hitomi was always loyal to Shidou. To an almost obsessive love level.

While Hitomi grew somewhat attached to Nomoto. Her loyalty would always lie with Shidou. Who originally forbid Hitomi from harming. Nomoto, because he wanted to use him as a pawn in the Killing Bites tournament to overthrow the hierarchy.

Once the plot was executed. Nomoto became a liability, as he would been aware that Shidou used him as a Killing Bites ringer.

It's Nomoto who was the naive dumbfuck that went to the secluded abandoned Killing Bites arena not knowing it was a setup.

Once you look back on the entire show. This isn't a betrayal at all. It was the final conclusion to Shidou's plan. And Hitomi was always in love with Shidou, not Nomoto.

That cut wasnt deep enough to die from. It will definitely be awhile before season 2.

I mean, I came in not expecting much but a decent action anime, for about 11 episodes, that is what we got. You can't really complain. That alone is about a solid 7/10.

Episode 12 came in, and much like FFXV, it was a rushing train of compact story that hit you in the face and made you wonder where all the chill went. But, if we don't take into account how poorly paced the last episode really was, it actually is a very interesting and layered story overall.

The basic premise is a bunch of rich people, mainly the top 4 companies(factions) in the nation, gather together and gamble over human-animal hybrid fights for money, power and leadership over the entire event. We find out most of the people who we thought were the good guys, were actually bad guys the entire time, but that doesn't make the other factions good, essentially we learn EVERYONE in this anime is a piece of shit, and I find that great since we don't get a lot of animes like that.

A lot of people (and animes) get hung up on the good vs bad narrative, but at the end of the day, we're all human beings and we're all selfish. This anime points that out, the only person even remotely close to 'decent' is actually Nomoto, and he gets "killed" for it.

The time skip and reveal was, once again, a little rushed and off pace, but overall interesting. Like most people, even the ones who disliked this anime, are interested to see where season 2 would go. Nomoto is back and coming for revenge. But despite the pacing issues, I think the overall elements of the story as a whole bring it up to an 8/10 for me.

-----------------------------

A word to everyone complaining and getting triggered over the rape scenes: Animals do not CARE about your feelings. Many, many animals rape each other in the wild, one of the points of this anime was that the beast forms bring out and enhance the horrible nature of humans and the animal they are part of. They never tried to paint rape as okay or good, every person that tried to rape anyone was a criminal or a traitor. They used the elements of rape to enhance how bad these characters are, not to glorify rape. You can find the idea of rape distasteful all you want, every single time it happened it served a purpose in this anime. For once, while there was clearly fan service, it wasn't just for the sake of having fan service, it actually works into the story and has a reason for it.

I also find it ironic you willingly sat down to watch and had no issues at all with what amounts to a human/animal fight club and battle royale where they rip off body parts, stab out eyes, slice and cut through skin and even spatter brain matter out the backs of their heads, yet you draw the line at suggested, not even fully shown, rape.

Grow up. It's fine to dislike rape, some people go through it and it could be very hurtful to have to see even the insinuation of rape, but some of you are going as far as to call everyone who didn't hate the inclusion of mature materials that increase the impact of the story as DISGUSTING people. Some of you act shocked like you didn't expect an anime showing some of the worst of humanity in animated form, might include some insinuated rape, my god, how shocking. How did you make it through and then find the strength to come here and tell us about it?

A tip for anyone who still dislikes this, Japan has a pretty great genre and rating system for stuff like this. Firstly, this anime is in the Seinen genre, it means "for men". This means that a lot of the time, almost ALL of the time, it has sex with or without nudity and blood. If you aren't a fan of gore/violence or uncomfortable with sex that very well may include rape, don't watch Seinen animes, especially if they are rated R+ like this anime is. R+ is the highest you can go without it being an actual hentai, so you should always check before watching one of them.

As TLC always said, stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to.

-------------------------------

Anyway, action animes are usually well received. If they took the American market into account, they probably wouldn't make a season 2 since it's mostly still kids watching anime here, but lucky for us, they don't care about the American market. I would wager the manga and likely the anime is doing well in Japan. It will get a season 2 and we will have someone translate it even if Funimation or Crunchyroll refuse to pick it up themselves.

My goodness, this episode was weird as hell. A lot of the episode felt overly weird but this one took the cake with the weird chameleon guys.

In fact, I think this entire episode was just strange with how events developed. The scenes with that Yoko woman were also uncomfortable to watch. Really underwhelming show in the end although I didn't really expect much from this anime lol. Also, screw Hitomi. She should of kept Nomoto alive.

Agree... although I didn’t quite like the ending nor didn’t expect to end like this 😑

I didn't like the Youko rape... Youko is actually fairly innocent, as she just wants to be the top because she doesn't want to disappoint her gramps and find a way to turn her Gramps back to the nice guy he used to be until Shidoh approached him (for financial benefits)

Personally I have this series a 3 out of 10. Interesting setting, but badly drawn out.

Probably won't watch season 2 if it ever comes out. (not reading manga either)

To be fair, he calls Nomoto and himself 'humans' in the first chapter and only gets triggered when Nomoto calls the idea of therianthropes and therianthropes themselves by extension stupid. Moreover, the next time they meet, Leo's unfailingly civil to Nomoto at the banquet, coming up to him of his own accord and striking a pleasant conversation with him - and at the time he already knows perfectly well Nomoto is not a therianthrope and simply ordinary human. If he were such a supremacist, there was no need for him to do all that.

So I'm more inclined to think Leo's really on his own side: he can kill ruthlessly, and pretty much anybody, but at the same time he doesn't like killing unnecessarily, no matter if it's humans or therianthropes, that's why Youzen and Youko's complete disregard of lives didn't sit well with him. And frankly, Youko was to be killed following her grandpa, but Leo saved her from that fate, in a really fucked up way, sure, but this is where her attitude towards therianthropes comes into play in a karmic retribution of 'you reap what you sow'. Anyhow, whether you like it or not, he's the only reason why she's still breathing (and I agree, she apparently really didn't want to die, so to her instincts submitting was a much better option, hence no resistance as the narrator pointed out)

As to the mentioned lust for power, I don't know, Leo doesn't strike me as someone who'd be obsessed with something as trivial and boring as power. He's not stupid not to understand you have to have some if you want to influence your fate, but I doubt it's his goal. We'll see.

I'm more than willing to highly rate shows like this if it fulfills its objectives.

Unfortunately though this lost most of the entertainment qualities a few episodes into the battle and turned rather repetitive. A few surprisingly deep/clever moments but well, defeats the purpose eh. Shame I was spoiled the twist too. 4-5/10 I think

I can't believe I continued watching this show and actually liking it. Yes it's dumb, trashy, nonsense, but it reveled in that. It doesn't care if its being absurd, or too violent, or the fan service is too much, it knows what it is. It's like Highschool of the Dead. It's well designed trash that threw me for a loop with that ending as I knew nothing about this series.

I'm there for Season 2. If it can keep up this level of ridiculousness for another season, I'm interested.

this is definitely the worst anime ive watched recently. terrible ending AF. it was completely annoying how hitomi didnt die, but that guy did. this ep just made me regret the entire anime on a whole.

I am so interested to here everyone’s theories about the animal they think nomoto is, please respond with your ideas. Just because he has those little flicks above his eye before transforming in the manga, I think he could be a bird

I honestly lost interest in the series a while back but having downloaded the episodes I decided to watch them today and I must say, the last episode was what was really unexpected to me. I was a bit surprised by Hitomi killing Nomoto but it was to be expected ever since episode 2. I was hoping for it to go a bit differently but as expected. I guess in certain situations, you don't trust people no matter what; especially when their shady (very).

Would love to run through the season 2 of the manga to see how Hitomi and Nomoto progress when they do meet again.

People on /a/ have suggested
- Bearded Vulture/Lammergeyer (feeds on bone marrows, has an exceptionally strong stomach acid that digests bones and allows it to safely ingest bacteria that are lethal to other scavengers)
- Capybara (an apparently very social animal, the largest extant rodent, is seen even besides caiman)
- Cassowary (emu-like bird with powerful kicks and big talons)
- Cat (common domestic animal, somewhat empathetic, and has good eyes and ears)
- Crow (a common urban animal, to contrast with Hitomi's base animal's environment, plus being good problem solvers)
- Great Grey Shrike (impales food on thorns)
- Honey Guide (to spite Oshie, and/or as a complement to Honey Badger)
- Kelenken (prehistoric bird with huge beak)
- Peregrine Falcon (highest vertical speed among animals, for dropping objects from high altitude)
- Wedged-tailed Eagle (can team up to hunt large red kangaroos, attacks hang gliders/paragliders/drones)

Joke answers might include:
- Limpet (teeth made of hardest biological material)
- Conodont (sharpest teeth-like structure ever, extinct animal)

i keep reading rape-rape-rape in every comment, wtf?

i re-watched this scene because i didn't get what are you all talking about

do you classify that as rape because of the tears? the frightened face? the disgusted face? the shocked face? because leo was holding her hands? all of that together?, are you ignoring the horny/ahegao face?

i wouldn't classify this scene as rape, imo the only "almost" rape scenes in the whole show happened on

episode 1 when hitomi was about to get raped by 4 guys in the back of the van
episode 4 is not clear but den onuma either just raped or was about to rape the girl on the floor of the bathroom
episode 6 den onuma again almost raped hitomi with his "cobra cannon"

people who have issues with rape should stay away from anime classified as seinen anyways

Well I guess it was alright but not as good as Junji Taisen. There wasn't much of a story to talk about since pretty much it just a battle royale. But one thing is for sure that the writer loves to watch Wildlife shows considering how he tries to appropriate hybrid behaviour with their animal counterparts or maybe he's just a furry. However, it pissed me off when they tried to appropriate Yoko's rape by Yugo using his animal instincts.

As for the characters, I understand why Nomoto was picked by Shidoh as he didn't want some one intelligent to figure out his ulterior motives and conspiracy. Still I feel felt so bad for Nomoto. I mean he was just a normal guy who even put his trust into someone who was condescending towards him but was betrayed. I hope he's ruthless and merciless in his revenge against the Killing Bites committee, Shidoh and especially Hitomi who killed him without a second thought. On the other hand, I kind like that new doggy character and the goth chick.

The ending with the whole city of hybrids kind of made me LOL. Like c'mon who in their right mind would want to look like that. I mean I wouldn't mind the ability it self like flight, speed, or strength but to look like an actual animal hybrid is a little to extreme. Anyways I hope this get a season 2.

So basically Shidou and his pals wanted to make Bioshock. Damn, I was rooting for the bad guys the whole time lmao

So all the theriomoprhs are going ot be segregated on an island to fight to the death...yeah, that sounds like a utopia...

Yoko's downfall has all the elements of a Greek tragedy; this could have been culture if it was 3000 years old. Since it was made in an era of modern sensibility however, finding pleasure in it is just troglodytic.

Hitomi's betrayal of MC-kun was quite a twist I was surprised by.

If there's a second season, based on scanning others' comments, I 'd be interested in seeing the revenge, which should be quite a show.

Like everything in the battle royale genre, it is trash. But unlike those other anime like Deadman Wonderland or Mirai Nikki, it is truly deserving of the label trash and it's certainly a contender for one of the best pieces of trash I've watched. It made me realize that other anime I considered to be trash actually had good taste.

I certainly don't mind looking at sexy ladies with nice musculature, especially in the end credits of each episode, and I don't mind being mindlessly emotionally manipulated by a cast of bastards, lulled in by gloriously stupid over the top "who would win?!" animal-themed fights, and impromptu yuri. This may be as close as humanly possible to achieve the ideal form of 'trash' while still conforming to a narrative structure, and it was fun to watch.

Putting the disturbing rape and the fact that a lot of cool characters died but that damn snake lives aside It was a pretty decent show. I wouldn't really watch it again but it was entertaining for what it was, I was invested enough to care about the fights and the characters and I did enjoy some of the characters. (Kido and Bunny-Chan particularly) (Was rooting for Bunny-chan the whole time tbh XD and best boy deserved so much better) But that ending?! The sequel baiting/Go read the manga ending is real here UGH! 6/10. I would rate it a little higher but the rape scene and the ending, in general, leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

For people asking, sequel plugs are pretty much ALWAYS added with an incomplete series, whether or not there is a high likelihood of a follow-up season coming.

Still not ultra-comfortable with Youko's plight, nor the fact that the author wants us to enjoy her "just desserts." Reminds me a little bit of what Cersei does to a particular nun in GOT.

At least we get to see a glimpse of best girl near the end

What would be of this anime if it were not for the scenes of rape, or attempted rape ?: A shit that I will forget in several days (with a lot of fanservice).

And having those scenes, what is it ?: An anime that I would forget in several days, but I would remember 'by scenes of rape and try to be mature (and with a lot of fanservice)

It was entertaining, leaving aside the fanservice, violation, and that life is worth very little.
3/10
The question isn't "What anime do you like?" That is merely a list.
The question is "Why do you like it?" That tells a story. Your story.
