The manga is finally OUT!! I'm liking it so far, the art and shading is spot on. Character designs of the girls.... may take some time to get used to.

Alright start I guess, I always thought that monogatari would be difficult to represent in manga form, for the lack of Araragi's monologues, etc. The art is pretty clean and looks good, but obviously the story representation wouldn't match to Shaft's work for the anime, at least Senjougahara's banters were fun. That blush at the end felt bit out of character though.

Not a big fan of Kanbaru's design too but will take time to get used to it I guess.

It was pretty good so far! I do think that the art is insanely spot on, but I don't really know how I feel about dat tsun blush. I just hope that is a one-time thing. That said, I do like how it established the romance between Koyomi and Hitagi. It felt like they bonded more than in the anime and novels if you asked me, and its a welcome change if Ogure Ito stays consistent with it.

As for the character designs themselves, I think they are pretty spot-on, though I don't know how to feel about dem teeth. I can't wait to see how Oshino looks like though.

Horrah to the first Monogatari manga adaptation! Hopefully not the last!

Is it going to be weekly or monthly?

As far as I've seen, the quality overall is good, the thing is how we're used to see the characters/design style and when we will be used to the new ones. Differences between the LN/Anime and the manga also may happen, while further conflict between manga and future anime adaptations (Zokuowari for example) with different art styles might be problematic.

Anyways, it's one step further for the franchise which is good no matter how.

I think the artist is on point. Very fitting art. Good thing it's not his own story cause I hate the majority of his works.

What I can say, I liked it. They adapted well the first episode of Hitagi Crab (not entirely, since the scene at the end where Senjougahara meets Meme didn't appeared at the end), with some extra scenes, like Araragi catching Senjougahara when she is climbing the building and falls, with a blushing Senjou too (I wonder if she is deliberately acting Tsundere here), unless that thing appeared in the novels and the anime didn't adapted it, of course. I fear they were going to skip to Kizumonogatari as soon as the flashback with Kiss-Shot appeared, but, thankfully, it was just to explain Araragi's current condition.

When I saw the art for the first time, I thought the characters looked way too serious, but, thankfully, it has some comedic moments in the style of Monogatari, and the puns and banter between the characters are still there, so it's all fine.

Respecting the artsyle, the characters design are of my liking, though Hanekawa looks a bit off (it will be a matter of getting accustomed to it, I guess), and I love how badass some of the shots of the manga looks, by example.

I'm satisfied with the art in that regard. The author also is skillful enough to get the monologues right without crowding the pages too much, which is appreciated.

That Kanbaru cameo though. Hachikuji and Nadeko also looked good at the end.

And that's all I can said. I liked it, it was a good adaptation and they got the comedy and dialogues right. Cannot wait to read the next one and see how Meme is in this artstyle. Too bad the manga is monthly, since it will took ages to catch up with the anime... If they go past Bakemonogatari, that's is.

Good start.

I like the art and character designs for most parts, think it's nice to have something different.

It's been over a year since I've seen this as anime,so I don't remember many details, but I could still notice some extras and that some scenes are shown more explicit.

Hope we get more of that.

It's from Shounen Magazine so it's Weekly.

I loved it. Personally I found the artstyle to be fine unlike alot of others who've been throwing a tantrum of the characters looking too serious or not close enough to the anime or LN style. It's not really distracting to me that the characters look a tad off or need getting used to. Never heard of the artist but he seemed to do a good job with this first chapter.

I didn't mind some original scenes that were added to the chapter since it really doesn't change much. The comedy is ok between Araragi and Hitagi and just like the anime, it was more enjoyable to read given you get to see their facial expressions and all unlike the LN.

Really I have no complaints about this first chapter. Overall I'd say its a pretty solid start of adapting Bakemonogatari. I'm really glad this is a thing now as Monogatari has been long overdue for a manga adaptation.

That said I do hope this is a weekly or bi weekly thing as it's running in a weekly magazine. I'm very excited to see the rest of it!

I was also expecting more dialogues lol. Also, I'm starting to like it's art style and those clean details so far, and it feels refreshing to read. Can't wait for Nisemonogatari lol

Blushing Senjougahara is completely new to the manga, and it didn't appear in the novels. In the novels, she was arguably more intimidating and acidic than in the anime.

Also I think this is weekly because it is running in Weekly Shounen Magazine. This is just the first chapter, so it has an extended run, the size of three chapters. After this, we should expect each chapter to be around 20ish pages.

You know Kodansha publishes Weekly Shounen Magazine and Monthly Shounen Magazine? So your post is non-answer.
It's in Weekly one.

I agree with my boy Illy im looking forward to more of this manga the artist for this has done a spectacular job i really like the art, there are small bits here and there that will take getting used to such as some of the designs of the characters. I felt the same way on the blush like wait? lol hitagi just blushed like whaa? but yea other than that these ch will def be filled with lots of content due to the nature of nisio's large amounts of dialogue but that means more pretty art to see woop ill prob skip a few ch ahead since im reading this part in the LN i bought need to finish it soon overall was well done.
