I like it when manga slowly introduces characters to make it easier for the reader to understand who is who. I hate it when in the first couple pages there's already like 5 characters to remember. Plus, when there's fewer characters, characterization tends to be better. If it can do that and still get the plot's foundation rolling and get reader hooked, then I'd dare say it's probably a pretty good start.

The closer the start is to Eden:it's an endless world, the better the beginning is.

what i consider a good beginning
is when the story's main aspect is made clear.....but left unfinished making me read one more chapter...and then the next and the next.
when it doesnt give too much info in the start but only shows the potential.

But that isn't even a manga?

A manga can't have a similar beginning?

Not annoying but I thought that it was rather obvious : D
Yeah, because first episodes focus on atmosphere/characters with minimal comedy/fanservice and action starts after 6 episodes.

Get in the mind and perspective of the MC. Not be told and not see some fake shallow falseness to them. If you genuinely don't give a fuck about your MC off the bat then what's the point.

The flip side can be getting invested in the setting but is much harder and has to be unique. It doesn't always work but it really sells well if you can accomplish that in conjunction with your main.
