Bittersweet ending I'd say. The parting was really sad, but it fit the situation pretty well.

I'm not sure I actually agree with this ending. I think some of the themes of the story--such as good things coming to an end and the distinction between reality and illusion--would have been better served by the original ending.

I was also kinda hoping that the mystery of how Saya works, including the superior she phones (is that God?), and why she needs to impose this crazy test of character on these children, would be explained. Instead, all we get is Kai and Manatsu appearing for one last time each and the two mirror-fragments going back into Saya's mirror. Does she use all those mirrors to travel between dimensions or something?

And the show still hasn't explained how Manatsu's body is abnormal, or other stuff!
Avatar character is Gabriel from Gabriel DropOut.

aw sei is such a good little waifu ♡
him + kai were such a cute couple :(
this episode/OVA was extremely bittersweet, but extremely moving as a result. the farewells were quite difficult to watch actually because you could feel the pain no matter how much kai/sei/manatsu/ichika joked or smiled.
but yeah i'm glad i re-watched uta-kata because i'd forgotten just how incredible it is :3

also, on a side-note, michiru was adorable + she was definitely my favourite side character ♡

Ehh this was okay. 6/10. It was nice to see Kai and Manatsu-chan again, but it's pretty sad how they had to leave and return back to the mirror :( Unfortunately, it didn't really have the closure I was looking for.

This was a nice episode to wrap things up. So sad that Manatsu and Kai will never come back again. Now everything is back to normal for Ichika. 8/10

I still wonder why they did this.

I mean, we had a somewhat farewell (not a proper one... but even so...) at the end of episode 12, then they bring back Manatsu just to make another farewell...? I think that this was a harsh thing to do with Ichika (and with us as well)... it had been months since Manatsu went away.... but then they bring her back just to make another farewell... bad guys... bad guys...

I wish Manatsu and Ichika could have been a sweeter and normal life together.

6/10

PS.: I think that an end with Ichika looking at a mirror and seeing Manatsu instead of herself would have been a good ending: "you are her, she is you. Isn't that so?".
It wouldn't have been a bittersweet ending taste and it wouldn't change the end's premisse.

I'm glad this was included as an extra/special and not the actual ending. I much prefer what happens at the end of episode 12 than this farewell. It's depressing to think Sei and Ichika will never again meet Kai or Manatsu :( it makes the loose ends even more obvious I feel like, such as why the mirror fragments had to return to the mirror... like what purpose does that serve? A little unfair as well, bc 6 years vs only a summer vacation. Still cute tho

Seeing the fragments return to the mirror was probably the only meaningful part of this episode. Having Manatsu return was pretty much pointless, I guess it could have been worse and she wouldn't ever leave, and that would trample over a lot of the meaning of the series.

Now that I think about it.. Ichika is 14 years old, right?.. Well, 15 in OVA.. So.. Things that happened with her and Manatsu.. Remember the dream that her parents had?.. Her parents had a dream even before her birth.. But.. Sei had to have his "trial" period after that, right?.. I mean, was it planned by Saya and stuff that she'd need more people after Sei's case?.. Well.. She probably rewrote history with her powers anyway, or some kinda bullshit like that..
Overall, a slice of life bonus episode.. Which is a bit strange.. Because of how strange is the series.. It just seems out of place.. It's not happy, really.. It's not sad as well.. It's not even bittersweet.. I guess, maybe after the series the most I feel - disappointment, I guess.. It could be nice slice of life.. It could be nice psychological anime, where we would see more thoughts of Ichika on the topics of relationships and things she encountered.. All we got in the second half of the anime was just some shit without soul, just some power possessing Ichika and that's it.. We lost both slice of life and psychology, left only with some bs paranormal powers.. Ok, they were going, doing something.. Boring at best.. But disappointing in general, because a time waste at best.. Well.. At least some episodes without bs paranormal powers were nice, I guess.. But that's it.. I can't return there, I feel detached from going into more slice of life with these characters, if in the end it doesn't feel honest anyway.. In their place I'd expect more serious talk.. Not just acquiring one additional memory of snow together.. But that's me.. To me it didn't feel honest slice of life time.. .. In the end.. That's the end of this anime.. I'd still be interested of more of this, if it would ever return.. As characters still have some potential..

Ahhh really not fond of this kind of ending, i think at first manatsu really come back but at the end it slap me back to how the story was written, it's sad but it feel it was the right ending though
It’s time to ditch the text file.
