We had many young characters that was very strong (Nanoha, Fate, Vita).
I don't see how younger form is worse than adult form.

Rinne looks much better in the adult form

Also, not all characters become adult. Miura Rinaldi look younger than Vivio when both transforms. Many of the characters remained same age in Nanoha ViVid after transformation

Look up older anime with a magical idol singer, most of the characters who were like this had an older form, that's where the magical girl having an older form comes from.

It's for competition purposes once they turn pro. And unlike the previous series like in A's, they're fighting unarmed and they're more reliant on their physical strength as shown in their training for example Miura's heavy weight lifting. Being in power/adult form gives them more raw power and they're physically tougher than when they are children.

It was in episode 3 of Vivid Strike

That's interesting but does it have any other purpose other than "non loli fannservice"?

About Miura in episode 2

So I don't think you are right, or I'm missing something here.
ps. She's like Pudzianowski in a young girl form.

Mages and martial artist i suppose. Neither of those people fight with their fist, they fight with magic.

Mamocentrism, duh.

Makes one wonder why they make big deals from the Under 15 crap when they look much older.

I dunno, it made sense at the end of Strikers for one person.

Vivid kinda just ran with it

Above member didn't really give you a good enough explaination for why the adult form. You need to watch the early Nanoha series, then you will somehow know why.

I believe Vivio's 1st adult mode in Nanoha Strikers, she did not choose to be in that form but being force by Scaglietti and the cradle(very painful episodes seeing little Vivio screaming for her Nanoha mamaTT). After that Vivio able to use that mode and we see adult mode become normal in Nanoha Vivid, well its more of a teen mode instead of adult actually. **The mode only add a few more years old only so its not entirely adult, If i remember correctly the adult mode gives them some boost in many places like physical and magic.

Not really a good example, but just to show you a teen and adult difference(left Subaru and right adult Nanoha). In Strikers, Vivio adult mode DO really look like an adult with the same height as Nanoha.
Sadly we can't really tell in Vivid series after, because the art looks a bit child-like.

I think the logic is thus: Do you really want to see little girls being beat up?
It works fine for dramatic episodes like Rinne's childhood, but not for friendly competitions.

The physical ability of a younger body simply isn't sufficient.

Vivio originally had an adult form not only for the sake of hand-to-hand combat, but I also presume to allow her a higher mana capacity. She was only 6 at the end of strikers.

Similar developments in magic tend to take the same path in the series. One character develops or encounters a practice, and others adopt it to adapt (e.g. the cartridge system).

That make sense, as Nanoha & Fate was very powerful (magic-wise)

I can't say I'm a fan of it either. It seems like it's put in more for fanservice than actual lore. Granted, this is a martial arts tournament more-so than a magic tournament, it still comes off as tacky.

But then, I was one of those who enjoyed watching a 9 year old girl completely lay waste to a city, haha... that's at the heart of anime, right there.
