I felt bad for Chopper, he does have a point, it's not exactly fair he gets plucked out of the crew he so wanted to be a part of, but Zoro is right, Chopper made the decision to go to sea and what he does there is on his head, no one else's. |

| I was getting bored of the race and I think it should have ended earlier than it did. Like, maybe once they did the dial jump they should have won, or perhaps been slowed while in the air or something. Luckily I felt it picked up in the second half. I think filler-esque arcs are important. We needed downtime after the intense slog that was Skypiea. We needed it. And I was grateful for the Navarone. But then we got some canonical filler-esque content. It does the same purpose but it made me realize the downside to having much needed canonical downtime in manga. It means there’s always a possibility for the filler to overlap with filler-esque canon and make some elongated slow arcs that go on too long. If it was only Navarone or only Foxy then it wouldn’t be a problem, back to back makes it feel too much, to me at least. Only a little too much, I am enjoying this arc despite some of the flaws I outlined in this post and my last. Usopp was so sad when Chopper was taken. :( I loved Zoro’s speech. He’s all about that pride. He’s not the type to sit around crying or moping, he’s the type to accept being turned into a wax statue by getting into pose. It’s something I love about him and that speech was a great encapsulation of it. Accept what you signed up for, try to make it go your way, if it doesn’t that's how the dice rolled. Not unlike that time he tossed the curse sword into the air to see if it would kill him! Speaking of Chopper being taken, my prediction based on the ED was right! I assume that Zoro and Sanji, who had a badass scene at the end, will win this game. They’ll get Chopper back. And then I wonder if they’ll win but not take anyone for the third game or if something else will happen. I don’t think they’re going to get a shipwright this way. I also assume now that out crew has learned about the slowmo cheese that they’ll prevent Foxy from doing it this time. If only Robin snapped some necks, huh. |

| The Straw Hats definitely should've won Round 1 because of all the really cool and clever strategies they came up with throughout the race as opposed to Captain Foxy's cheap trick leading to a lousy win. Seeing Chopper feel so sad to be taken away by another crew made me feel bad but they're going to win him back somehow. |
