This show has been escalating rather subtly, but it's pretty clear how serious it's gotten now. The crap has hit the fan.

The girls are literally going to get themselves killed at this rate; they're pushing themselves way way too much. They've already went and gotten themselves wounded so badly that they've been rushed to the ER.

They aren't going survive another fight or two with Eas like this, and if Labyrinth does anything at all while they're hospitalized it's not going to be good.

Meanwhile Eas is also killing herself to power these absurdly strong Nakewameke that can equal the power of the Precure... This is going to get ugly, isn't it?

Excellent episode.

The girls are just gonna self-destruct at this rate. Same for Eas, who's literally throwing her life away to defeat them.

there is a limit to the suspension of disbelief

And it's the fan that did it. Not the smoking porn reading rubik cube genius rape ape with a magic boat.

Fresh is excellent at buildup, and especially so when it comes to this arc. The situation has been escalating subtly but steadily, culminating in this mass self-destruction everyone is engaging in. It really holds up as great writing and what has been matched by barely anything in the series thus far.

Eas’s blind devotion and even blinder desperation feels very raw and more fully-realized than other “for Big Bad-sama’s sake” villains; which makes sense since this was the series’ first foray at really trying to develop a single villain in such a way. Her VA does a big part at selling her pain and determination as well.

Fresh is so good.

I think I figured out my issue with Fresh Precure, or at least my initial feelings of unease. It feels like with every Precure after Futari wa Precure, there's an expectation for the character types, context, and general tone for the show, and thus Precure quickly goes through standard motions to ease viewers into each series. As such, the beginning of each series feels extremely formulaic, as they all start with ordinary girls coming across a magical creature or item, which then turns them into Precures. However, each show has discernable differences in their styles and atmospheres, with Futari wa Precure being the straightforward original, Splash Star on loss and reconciliation, Yes Precure 5 on romance and personal dreams, and Fresh on the girls' emotional growth. This won't stop me from feeling skeptical of the repetition, but I'm at least noticing the reduced reliance on stock footage in Fresh, as well as how the series' beginning was extremely sped through, having the girls already know each other before becoming Precures. Maybe the franchise creators know what they're doing?

That aside, were the Precures actually hospitalized? Continuing on a trend of firsts for the Precure franchise to address, Precure is showing what happens when the team over exerts themselves between their ordinary life struggles and their Precure duties. That's...getting uncomfortably real.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this season as much as the others I watched before, but I'm loving it since the beginning. This episode was great, let's see how it will turn out...
