| I began reading manga relatively late, because it wasn't sold in my country but many years after I had started watching anime. My first manga was "City Hunter", that I was already watching on TV. It was surprising that among the very few manga that were chosen to be sold in trial, this one was there, in a children's comics shelves of my neighborhood's supermarket... Everybody who's already read them must imagine how the eyes of the 9 year_old me were when I went through the thing... ^ ^; Anyway, it's still one of the best manga ever ;p |
| Gundam Wing. In fact, I still have the early Tokyopop publications that were put in completely American style: flopped, cut, and put in comic-book sized portions of thirty or so pages. And after that, the more-real-but-still-flopped-manga style GW: Episode Zero. Yeah. |

| I was out of H.S. before I read a single manga. My first was Lone Wolf & Cub, and I'd read at least ten volumes of it before getting around to checking out anything else. Thankfully - coming to manga so late in life allowed me to not have piles and piles of youth driven series laying around that I'm not at all into. :) I can go STRAIGHT to Monster without having to wade through years of Shounen to get there. |

| So am I right in perceiving that Naruto is for the current batch of middle school / teenage folks what Dragon Ball was for everyone ten years ago? Because growing up, I don't remember hearing about ANY manga except the dozen kids at school who were nuts for DBZ and the one friend who loved the Akira anime. |
