I'll be going to Comic Con in San Diego this summer - I figure that it has enough variety to keep my attention for 4 days with the mixture of games, comic books, and anime.

I'm looking at 4-5, maybe 6 conventions this year, assuming work gives me the time off that I want.
Plans are for a convention in every weekend in August, plus the convention I'm on committee for at the end of September.

There's talk now of Jorban & I possibly attending either Kita-Kon in Thunder Bay, or CN Anime/Fan Expo in Toronto. Since we're likely not heading down to New Brunswick this year, we have a chance to attend another con this year. As kickass as it would be to attend another one of Toronto's large Anime Cons, I think it'd be kinda cool to attend a small con like Kita :3

Im not this year most likely but I want to next year. I want to go to Animazement (it's like a couple of hours from here) and Katsucon. And yes I will be cosplaying. Probably as L. I want to cosplay as Misa and Kakashi but I really want to start with L.

I wanted to go to Wizard World (delicious Summer Glau/Terminator, must nom) but that failed as did the Paley Festival. I was going to go to Grand Slam this weekend for more Terminator goodness but the actor pulled out at the last moment.

So it looks like I may be going to AX and Comic-Con this year (as per usual). :3 I can't wait!

I just went to Anime Boston, I love going there but this year it just felt like there were too many people and the lines were craaaazy, more than the average Line-con.

Also, I am planning on going to Otakon again this year!

In the Fall we are having a Con in RI, its called Anime Providence and is 21 plus so if you are in the area check it out!

I was supposed to go to Katsucon this weekend. A friend and I had plans to do a maid cafe but it was axed and I ended up not going. Oh well. : Dunno if I'll go to anything else - maybe Otakon for a day, and I think there's a con in Richmond... Anime cons don't really do it for me anymore.

Aw man that sucks. How come it was axed?
Yea after while I can understand them getting boring to go too. Costly too.

Haha, took me a while to see this.

It was axed due to union and contract issues, if I'm not mistaken... :\ I think the convention is moving to a different hotel for next year, which would be on board with the idea of a maid cafe, but I'm not sure if I'll still be interested by next Feb. It's money, time, etc...

If I somehow have cash to spare, I'll go to Otakon for a day. Most likely won't be able to make it to Otakon though, or any other convention. Ah well.

Well its hard to compare, they always have they're upsides and downsides, With ours there are a few "weapon" restrictions.

That sucks. But it's good they might be moving to a new hotel. AC-Cubed in Ottawa was having sort of the same problems, issues with their own staff and the hotel they were with last year. They decided to cancel it for '08 and come back next year. But unfortunately according to recent rumors, it doesn't even look like that'll be happening. Honestly doesn't surprise me any.

A couple new cons will be happening in a few months.
DotCon - November 15-16, another in Toronto. And in Gatineau, QC there's G-Anime - February 7-8.
So that's gonna be pretty cool, checking out two brand new cons.

Also if anyone's interested in seeing photos from Anime North, I've uploaded my pics to my PB

I'm going to Otakon, which doesn't quite feel like any other convention I've been to. People who hate cons might like it. It's very relaxed.

I spend more time watching anime than I do waiting in lines, and more time shopping than dealing with stinky congoers.

And the free stuff, woo. :3

Something to be said about the largest fan-run con in the nation.

Now that the US dollar is way down the currency conversion would make everything slightly cheaper for you, though.

Quite true. There's still the whole passport thing though. I'm really not sure what the current rules are for each side of the border. I thought I had heard something late last year that, everyone in Canada would need to have a passport come such and such a time this year, even if they're driving over.

For US citizens the new passport stuff was delayed, so we can get to Canada with no passport (by land or sea, not air) until 2009. That might carry over to Canadian citizens going the other way, not sure.

That'd be great if it is.
Since we've already made plans to go to a few other cons this year, I don't think we'd be able to go to Otakon. As much as I'd love to, I don't think we could afford it.
