This is actually very exciting to me. For someone who hasn't read the light novels, watching this will be quite interesting.

How excited are you?

Oscar and Andre deserved better

I want to see this, but only because I'm not sure if they could ever make another full season. I want more fan service anime for girls!

Not sure how keen I am on this idea. It's not like they can really contribute anything particularly meaningful to the series with a prequel. We know all about the stuff that happened in the past, and so any story they could write wouldn't be able to expand upon the characters in any interesting way. The comedy should make it worth watching (KyoAni have always been pretty reliable for a laugh, if nothing else).

Honestly, I'd much rather see a sequel focusing on Haruka's professional career.

Then again, it is KyoAni we're talking about. They're less concerned with producing engaging stories and more concerned with their next pay-packet. Hence why they made those two movie tie-ins for Kyoukai no Kanata, which is to my mind like milking a dead cow.

I'm very excited for it! A little bummed that the movie probably won't include Rei (since it's in their junior high days), but still very happy!

Rei, Momo and Ai will be in the movie - even though they do not appear in the light novel. The voice actors said they are working on it, thus they will be there c:

There'll be more announcements regarding this anime later (maybe in the next anime event after the movie) so fans have been speculating there'll be another Free! sequel coincides with 2016 Olympic Summer. Something like Free!: For the Future movie or a even season 3 of the anime.

but then more Free! and Makoto! are always welcomed :D I'd love to see this movie since it's gonna be about their middle school timeline. I've read both novels and they are such cute fluffy stories. I like 'em better than the anime because they got loads of interesting characters and actually explored more of Haru's character and also more swimming.

I look forward to it mainly because Nagisa is a bit more important in High Speed, would be nice for him to get some actual moments.

On a scale of 1 swimming homos to 10 swimming homos, I'm around a 7.

Would kill for an epilogue/sequel movie set in post-high school/college or adult life. Please.

Yeah. It sounds like they will just rehash flashbacks we have seen throughout the series but flesh them out more.

Not excited at all. I have absolutely no interest in seeing the characters I came to like in the Free! series as little children.

I'm a sucker for BL. But shota isn't my cup of tea. This movie seems like a Boku no Pico version without s*x.

As a male and fan of free, I really wanted this movie to be about how things are after the final episode of Eternal Summer. I dont care about their elementary and MS life. I already know it from the flashbacks in all 25 episodes.

I wanted to see how Rin and Haru are doing in the pros. How Makoto is doing as a coach. How Sousuke is doing with his life in his father's company and if he will give swimming another try and maybe get an operation on his shoulder. I wanted to see Nagisa, Rei, and Gou as seniors.

I guess Kyoani doesnt know how to do post HS settings (with the exception of the second half of After Story, which was like 8 episodes only).

I really hope this will be a flop at the box office. Maybe KyoAni will learn that nobody actually cares about children in swimming trunks (except for shotacon fans).

They should have made a movie with adult characters right from the start.

I cannot see all the fujoshi buying tickets for a movie like this (means KyoAni loses 75% of their audience in an instant).

Ooh I'm excited for this! Hopefully the next thing they'll do after this is a sequel to Eternal Summer, where the focus is on Haru, Rin, Makoto, Rei and Nagisa after high school. I can never get enough of these boys.
