Mushishi gets better with each episode of this season.

I don't know if Youkichi stepping in for Akane works though. The ending was AMAZING, until the part where Youkichi steps on the shadow. It could have been just a neutral bittersweet ending instead of a grim-dark tragedy.

I really love that typical mystery feeling when it comes to mushishi. It's been funny to see the illustration of old people in a marriage. They really do fight each other because of trivialities. But later on the story went so deep it sent shivers down my spine all the time. A really beautiful and still kind of frightening story. Almost like the one with the siblings who lost each other (don't know the exact episode anymore).

What a tragic tale of unfortunate events. Makes one wonder who was the first to start the cycle and how it was done if there was no one before them to step on their shadows.

All these bittersweet episodes hitting dem feels. At least she was able to come back although it's still sad that by now her family has passed away. At least her childhood friends still remember her.

I actually cry a lot when watching anime, even if it's not the tear jerking ones.
But even though I didn't cry when I watched this, somehow I felt so sad..

.. so fucking sad. :(

This episode... It made me emotional more than any other. I literally shed a tear there. First time I ever broke into tears for any form of media I think, mostly I just get teary-eyed.
The concept of shadows (both plot-wise and art-wise) was amazing and the perspective of stepping and being stepped on was remarkable as well.

I just... mushishi is incredible. End of story.

I said before that the last episode was one of the best so far but after this one I'm just left speechless... There were more feelings in this episode than in a whole season of many other anime out there Q_Q

Wow, that was amazing, she basically lived Akane's life in her place, living with her father marrying a friend.

I wonder how her life will be now that she came back.

Ginko's reactions are gold, and so was this episode! From what I understood, Akane became trapped in a different realm than ours, one separate from our time and space. What left me scratching my mind was, if people switch places, how did the first person ended up there ib the first place?

beautiful episode with dramatic scene and sadly end when mekagi die
Isn't mekagi fault to replace her self with akane but the way when she apologise was regrettable and i think akane didn't love her life before

This episode was both painful and beautiful, just goddamn AMAZING episode. Akane sure was a good girl, not stepping on anyone's shadow for decades, it was wrong of her to not step on one, though. Beautiful ending, hopefully she will lead a happy life now.

This time I really cried heartily, I don't know why, maybe it was because of the kindness shown by the characters, perhaps because it addresses the delicate discourse of solitude; the fact is that the narrative has managed to involve me totally. There is no denying, this second season is a step higher than the previous one, Mushishi proves once again a great anime series ..

oh jesus yeh that was quite heartbreaking and terrifying, especially that ending. It was practically like a soul for a soul rule to some degree.
honestly it was just wrong place wrong time for both partys, nothing could of really be done to prevent it

This was so sad and beautiful, also that ending though...one of the best endings to an episode ever, didnt expect that old woman to find akane-chan and recognize her after maybe like 60 years, so good.
