The problem is that we make jokes about everything today and supposedly just because it's a joke then it should be okay to say it. The line of where it stops being a joke varies in thickness depending on who you're talking to, and some things simply shouldn't be told as a joke if you ask me.

So, to stay on topic: does it make you racist? Not necessarily, but it might give people the implication that you are.

Yes. However, whether or not your racism is deserving of condemnation is separate issue. Racism is not inherently "bad", as you (OP) seem to believe.

Discussing the morality of jokes is always a painful topic. I say racist jokes, but I'm not a racist, so that makes it okay right? Or not? Now let's apply that logic to rape jokes, sexist jokes, mass murder jokes, etc. I don't advocate rape, sexism, or mass murder, nor do I actually believe in the contents of the joke, so that makes it okay right? This is where shit gets confusing.

Remember that racism enslaved a race of people for centuries and continued to treat them like shit for another century afterwards. That's just as bad as rape, sexism, and mass murder. But the general populace doesn't apply logic like this, rather there is a general idea held by all in society regarding what constitutes a joke that goes too far. It's more of a feeling over logic thing, and my perception of jokes is affected by this as well. This is the double standard of offensive comedy.

I'm Asian and my Mexican friend and I rally racists jokes back-and-forth all the time. Just have fun yo.

Well, I used to work in a Warehouse in Dagenham, London.
It was full of different people of ethnic origins, so the banter there was very racist and dark, but it was taken as a joke. I even had some things thrown at me which you just gotta laugh off and not be a light hearted party pooper.

Doesn't really make you racist though because I wouldn't go out my way to offend someone based on their ethnicity and the people at my work wouldn't or didn't either. If anything it gives you character I personally think, if purely that's just your sense of humor
