i laughed
its not impossible in this day and age to produce something with well done and not rushed animation
there are many animes which aired before fairy tail and had a really good animation
(have you seen 5 Centimeters per Second1080p?)

Why would you laugh? Its the first episode. Animation usually progresses as it progresses( LOL, sorry I felt like saying that :P)

Anyway, yay! Lets slam the first episode! Lets judge the whole series, which has an unknown amount of episodes, on one episode! Its genius! (Sarcasm >_>)

Lets say the show is a fail when theres still main characters to be introduced, a plot to be expanded, and voice actors and animation to find their right place.

Give it a chance to become gold before you ask for platinum. Thats what I was trying to say. That goes out to the smartass who "asked for bronze and got tin".

I think it's off to a decent start. It isn't as cleanly animated as I had hoped it to be..but maybe they'll improve on it?

I guess my favorite part is seeing Lucy animated! Aya Hirano's voice fits her well too I think. I imagined Natsu's voice to be scrappier..less adult-like..but oh well. Happy's voice sounds a lil too girly than I imagined it too. I like Rie Kugimiya, but the way he talks in the manga, I expected him to be more masculine.

One episode was enough to convince me that this show isn't for me, at all. I didn't really think much of the characters, the animation was flat and chap, and the one action scene of the episode took up about about a minute [on top of being the typical "blow away a few underlings with a punch, get hit by some magic, and then blow away the main bad guy with some super-spell].

One and done.

Are you saying leave the attacks in Japanese?

Uh...why? Is it because it reads cooler or something? I mean, they would mean the same thing.

they mean the same thing but read differently. Karyuu no Tekken and Iron Fist of the Fire Dragon which one is better? and well if you read manga you should know that they leave the attack name in Japanese and we are use to it so why should they translate it?

mmm that was an okay first episode, the animation wasn't that good
i imagined natsu's voice to be totally different tho, this one seems to deep
and haruhi's v.a doesn't really seem to match with lucy but i'll probably get used to it
well other than that, it wasn't that bad, hopefully the animation gets better tho cause it's really buggy me rite now lol

Once again! First episode! You can only get so much action out of the first episode. In all shounen the first episode is just the main character displaying their power on a weakling because the weakling is too weak to contradict the character's powers.

Its the first episode, You can't expect much from a plot that needs to blossom, voice actors that need to adapt, animation that has to be spread out due to a budget(possibly), and characters that haven't even been introduced.

I say 8/10...9/10 if you ignore the weird seals. XD

Overall it's not a bad episode. OP animation and song is ok; ending is ok too.

Music is great. The magic animation is pretty cool.

Voice acting is ok. Hirano Aya's Lucy isn't really what I have in mind but it's fine. I love Natsu's voice. Happy's voice cracks me up.

Can't wait until Gray and Erza enters the fray :D

P.S. I'm glad I watched raw because I would not be able to stand seeing the subtitle 'wizard'....it's MADOUSHI =/= wizard

Because crunchyroll tries to reach out worldwide and not just the people who have read the manga before?

Well, i think the episode itself was good, i think the only problems were that shitty magic circles appearing, it makes the show look childish.

As for the voices:
Lucy's was unexpectedly good (Ii was thinking it would be the worst of all)
Happy's wasn't all that good, i think it doesn't fit the character
Natsu's was the worst of all, it doesn't fit the character at all, a female seiyuu would fit better as it does in many shounen animes (not just One Piece, there's a lot of anime that has great female seiyuus doing male roles)

Well i still liked it, let's expect that it gets better =D, 4/5, overall of the show 8/10

I imagined that the show would be alittle more, I don't know, "mature" is probably the best word. I have no problem with bright colours and such, but I kinda imagined this one to be alittle bit darker (maybe it'll swing that way later, what do I know there's only one episode out). Thinking mainly about chapter 47 and 48 of the manga, cause those always sends chills down my spine. I know they're probably aiming for a wide audiance with this one, but I would rather see Natsu fully on fire rather than him standing in front of a wall of flames.

I liked it, it was probably what I expected it to be: some action and comedy. I haven't read the manga so I don't know how different it is but whichever direction they take I'll continue to follow because this seems like an awesome show.

I haven't watched One Piece (only seen an episode or two), but it seems this show has the same look or feel as One Piece, which I guess is another message telling me I should start watching One Piece.

I've seen a lot of "first episodes" this season, Fairy Tale's first didn't even make it to the upper half. Again, there's nothing here that I looked at and said "Man, this right here is why I should check out episode 2". Plenty of other shows this season have done that, Fairy Tail didn't. End of story.

having popular va's like hirano aya and kugimiya rie didn't make it feel like this anime would be special or unique in anyway but more like every other anime out there already. Same with the animation. It feels like this is going to be just another shounen rather than something special we haven't seen before. I'll probably still watch it since it will probably still be entertaining but first impressions are that this anime isn't going to make many breakthroughs any time soon.

This is pretty good. I've heard of the Fairy Tail manga before(played Sunday vs. Magazine on the PSP)...seems like your average shonen series, but I think this is a good break from all those poser ninjas and sword fights with them blood pukes even though you got stabbed in your leg.

Hopefully, if this IS gonna end up to be a long anime like Bleach or Naruto, hopefully they stop at around 100. After they reach 180+, I'll be stopping at that since it's going to be ridiculous from that point on.

Anyways, this episode is nice. I hope the action won't include those ridiculous life lessons later on in the show. I hope it stays simple and quick to the point.

I enjoyed it. This could definitely become my guilty pleasure of the season. Childish? Yes. Unoriginal? Maybe. But it was fun as hell which is more than I can say for the majority of the new shows so far.

The animation quality didn't really bother me at all. Perhaps Natsu's VA doesn't fit the character as others have said but I found myself liking Natsu more in this episode than I did in the manga because of his voice. And for once Kugimiya Rie doesn't irritate me. I actually thought Happy was pretty cute in a weird sort of way. But Hirano as Lucy..ehh.

Anyways, the mermaid scene was awesome and this first episode was totally faithful to the manga which I liked. Can't wait for Gray to show up <3

I must unfortunally admit that i was pretty disapointed with this first episode, much worse then the manga.

I really think that the best part of the episode was the characters and the comedy. idk if you read the manga but if you do, you must admit that these parts, arent of the anime's staff responsabilty.

About the voice acting nothing special although i must admit that the voice of Natso sounded kinda annoying, but maybe I just need to get used to him (I kinda imagined a more childish voice).

The worst for me was the art. The special effects of the Magic/fighting scenes are horrible imo. About the rest, it really was for me just some sloppy Animation (the characters look diffrent)...

It looks like the Anime staff just though that they having a sucessful Manga as their plot would be enough to create an sucessful anime. I really hope that they'll realise that this isn't truth and so change the way they make this anime.

2/5 for me (really fill this is an "insult" to the manga)

btw sry for my bad english...

Wow...Happy's voice was annoying as hell. And wow, the character designs just didn't fit well with me. They seemed very inconsistent throughout the entire show. And the magic effects...gah, I just hope the magic becomes more seamless with the episode that what they showed here.

Otherwise, decent start. They seemed to have made the characters - and the overall feel of the series - more childish than what's presented in the manga.

Very disappointing. Bad animation, to much colour saturation and the magic effects? come on! that's just cheap... at least put the effort into properly animating the flames and not just paste bad cgi on top of the animation... Natsu's and Lucy's voices don't fit that well either... overall it felt amateurish and cheap... I am not a happy bunny

yeah the cheezy effects really killed it so far.... hopefully the comedy will improve at least.... and with only the first ep I'm hoping it's not indicative of the rest of the series. Lots of people really adore the manga, so there must be something there later on..... right?

To me this felt like rave master 2.0 with a touch of gurren lagann... plus add in hirano aya and kugimiya rie just for shallow comic relief..... I'm not really impressed but maybe it will surprise me.

HOLY JEEBUS! DID I JUST WITNESS THE FIRST EPISODE OF THE NEXT MAINSTREAM ANIME??? hmm let's see:

Comedic male lead who's actually extemely powerful with enough muscles to make fangirls wet themselves at night? Check.

Big-boobed independent heroine who'll be exploited and rule 34'd like no tomorrow? Check.

Small annoying thing that'll be the mascot of the series? Check.

Some kinda strange power that people can get and is actually the whole point of the show? Check.

Well, it looks like we need a few more to go to be full mainstream animu....liek the stoic unemotional guy who shall be featured in the yaoi doujinshi yet to come, pissed off macho guy aka the villian of the series, and a quirky adventure filled with magic and fanservice! oh and fillers, yes there shall be much fillers.

*cough* excuse me, got a lil bit too excited there. I honestly really liked it, no srsly. I'm actually curious as to what is this show's about. I will be anxiously awaiting the next episode :P
