| Just wondering, since I didn't read the whole thread, but are there any hypocrites here who posted in that thread in CE about the Chinese girl getting beaten to death who are saying they'd step in and fight after saying that stepping in to help her would have been stupid? I really hope not, so I'm just checking. |

Knowing myself and my tastes, my partner(lady) would probably defend herself in that moment. If they then got aggressive about it I would try to step in between them and her and try to cool things down. If things eventually escalated I would assist my partner in defending ourselves street fighting style. As in crack one of the dude's nuts on my knee and give him a good punch and kick afterward, then gtfo of there as soon as possible. Though before all this even happened I would check them for weapons and my surroundings for possibly more of them. |

But generally I think when people are seriously out to cause serious damage or commit rape they wouldn't be so gentle about it as the guys in this scenario. Then there's the issue of honor and principles. At some point, the norm demands that you that as a man, ought to have the capability to prevent an insult like this from happening. One can tolerate their bud being called a fag, or a nigger, or whatever, but in this case, you're expected to keep the insult from ever being uttered. If that happens (both verbal and physical insulting), then you're expected to enact some sort of retribution, that at the very least stands in proportion to their wrongdoing, but preferably is many times harsher. I think Henry in Goodfellas sets a good example. |

| I'd rather run away than to have someone I'm dating get us into a fight (there'd be no way in hell I'd just stand there like a ditz). I prefer to just get out of a situation instead of making it worse. I'd probably make sure to call the cops too. Of course, this is assuming I'd be 'out on the town' anyways. I'm not fond of wandering around cities. |

| It's stupid to try to fight two guys bigger than you at night on an empty street, both who might carry a weapon or a knife. The best choice in that situation would be to push them aside, grab the girl and get out of there as soon as possible. On the other hand, girls have this notion that you're not a strong man if she can't feel complete safety from you and might lose respect for you in the longrun and the same goes if you fought and took a beating because females aren't the most rational creatures. |

Another recommendable tactic would be to hit the opponent's ears with your open palms to disorient him momentarily before striking at the eyes. One last thing; no matter how good you are at martial arts or self-defense, the chances of winning a 2-on-1 fight are close to nil, even with simple weapons such as knives or house-keys. No matter how trained you are, it is really, really difficult to fight against a second opponent that you can't see; the instant you lash out against one, no matter how strong your attack is, there's still a pretty good chance that the other will wipe the floor with your ass at that very same instant while you're busy dealing with the first. Remember, silly as it may sound, prevention is the best defense; don't go in the ill-reputed neighborhood at 1 am and the chances of meeting those scary-wary Middle Easterns (or Africans. Let's not forget about them, since the OP was so kind to remind us about that...) will drastically decrease. |

If you genuinely believe that it is difficult to beat two punks when you are trained, you are very mistaken. Take for example someone trained in Krav Maga. Did you know that the Krav Maga system is very effective at taking multiple opponents? You are taught to use everything in your reach, never to fight on the ground and control your opponents to make a fight against multiple people easier on yourself. You're talking about fighting one person while you are blind towards the second opponent, obviously you'll fuck up because if you can't control your position in a fight against multiple people it's pretty damn obvious that you'll get hit in the back. Also, the chances of you being able to discombobulate an aggressive person is very low. For such a strike to do enough damage you need to have a striking pattern ressembling a haymaker or a hook depending on the technique except with both hands and open palms. If you do land the hit you are not even guaranteed that you will do it right, and most likely will not get to go for the eyes like you said because the person is not just going to stay still, they will move, their head will move, it's just impossible for you to pinpoint the eyes when your target is moving. Go for the throat first. A hard enough hit can kill the person but it is a risk to take. A straight forward strike will always be faster than anything else. A strike to the throat doesn't require you to shift your shoulders meaning that the person will have less clues to react. The fact that it is going straight forward also has the same effect, their reaction time will be slower because it'll take longer for them to see the strike coming. Now if you're trained you have two choices, carry on with the fight or run. If you're not trained, run. And for your case, please refrain from giving anyone advices on self-defense in the future, you'll get someone hurt by making them think something works when it doesn't. Watching youtube videos does not make you a fighter or a martial artist. I'm not trying to be a dick here, but if there's one thing I hate it's someone teaching false theory of self-defense. Theres a lot more possiblities than what I've talked about but I'm not gonna start giving martial arts classes here. but do you have any knowledge of self defense |
