| They share many similar ideas or themes, and they have somewhat similar character arch-types, but that does not make FT a rip-off. It's not as good as One Piece, but it is a pretty good shounen series. |
| Nothing can be as good as One Piece If Fairy Tail had to be a rip-off from a manga, it would be Hiro Mashima's previous work, Rave (or groove master rave) Many of the characters of basically identical, and some of the things that happen are nearly copied picture by picture, but both are quite cool in their own way |

Fairy tail is way too dramatic, rofl... I hate when its compared to one piece because I just don't see it. Fairy Tail is a major drag and its very stupid. I watch it just to watch something but its not very entertaining. Its very predictable and if anyone saw the last arc, I mean come on, lol. The fights were just, "I WONT GIVE UP" they get destroyed and suddenly become full of energy... i mean come on? seriously... |
| Not really. It's more like a mix of all shonen cliches with a one piece-like art style so it's not really ripping off One Piece in particular. |

| I wouldn't call rip-off, but is certain that Mashima is in the limit of taking to much inspiration! Note: Some examples are anime only, where nor Oda nor Mashima have part on it, so in that case people are saying that even the anime produces copy each other? |

| I started up One Piece immediately after I caught up on Fairy Tail, and I'll admit back then I was noticing striking similarities - although not for the reasons you've mentioned. Mainly it was the themes and story structure that made me start to see FT in a negative light. I recently got around to finally finishing FT and although it seems fairly apparent that it was influenced by OP, Fairy Tail just seems more like a typical, run of the mill battle shounen than a blatant rip-off. I still prefer OP leagues above FT, but I'll at least acknowledge that FT has its own thing going for it. Although Shanks to Gildarts always makes me laugh, that one is way too obvious. |

Going into an ecchi manga/anime and not expecting pantyshots and boobs is stupid. The anime is obviously going to contain some fanservice since it's adapted from an ecchi manga. There is a lot less than there is in the manga though. And to a point, someone can go into a comedy anime expecting comedy but not like the comedy or how it is used in that particular anime, it's basically the same. That it has ecchi doesn't seem like valid criticism, but saying there's too much or you don't like how it was used works. And like I said someone viewing Fairy Tail's anime page wouldn't know that it's an ecchi because that tag is only on the manga. People don't check the manga tags of anime they are going to watch as if the anime is a direct adaptation then it would have the same and if things were changed then it may not. There are some anime and manga where because of their differences one tag would fit in one but not the other. I've even heard that the anime cut out some ecchi in the beginning(maybe why it doesn't have the tag) but then added more later on in the series(like the bikini contest in the tournament). It's an action first, an ecchi second.... or at least, that was how it's supposed to be. Pointless boobshots are the only reason it's still alive. |
