As I mentioned in the OP, this post is for anime that are still airing or at least the manga version is still publishing. Still in the hundreds. Katsuragi Keima is the protagonist of a publishing shounen manga, so I guess my vote would go for him. I don't find that I get attached to shounen protagonists very often though - I'm usually more interested in either one of the main side-characters or in the relationships between the characters. And I'm not much of a fan of battle shounen stuff either. Finally someone gets it. Not all shounen = battle shounen. Though I guess this poll applies to ongoing battle shounen only so I guess that limits the range of things. What's an example of a shounen that doesn't have battles in it? For the ones I didn't know I just did some searching, but I didn't see any that didn't have fights. But yes, if there's a difference battle shounen is what I meant. Dude, there are lots of shounen out there that aren't battle shounen. It's just a demographic, with the target audience being teenage males. Just like seinen being aimed at older males, etc. Stuff like Death Note, Haruhi, Gin no Saji, TWGOK, etc., are all shounen but aren't action series. A shounen anime can be of any genre, it's just that the general consensus around here is that it only refers to the battle/action shounen, which is but a small portion. That's why those anime I mentioned (along with many others) aren't considered "shounen" despite the fact that they are shounen.
