Whenever you want.
By the time you 16 you should know how much sleep you need in order to be working next day and then go to bed depending on when/if you need to get up.
Holidays atm so I just go when I feel tired and I'm 16

Heh, i go to bed at whatever time i want, being 16 this gets to stupidly late hours 3am-4am stuff >_>.
But if i have anything to do I usually stop myself and go to bed at a reasonable time.
So this:
Anytime he/she wants

Being 16, 10 doesn't sound that unreasonable. Typical "8 hours of sleep" as people say. Yet, teenagers and such should really sleep around 10 hours so 8 would be ideal. That being said, people rarely follow the 10 hour guideline and usually turn out fine.

People should get at least 10+ hours of sleep. It's better for your health. Sleep early, wake up early. Or sleep late, wake up late. Just like me.

I hadn't had a bedtime since... forever I think.

Dunno, sometimes I can go asleep at 2:00 AM in the morning and I wake like a fresh flower in the morning. Thought, the latest time I went to bed was about 5 AM :P

You need to sucker them in. Just keep going by like 15 minute intervals. Or stay up until they fall asleep and do whatever you want. As long you aren't missing school or anything why not. I don't remember the last time I had a bedtime or whatever. Normal bedtime is 1am or 2am.

I put 10. I normally slept at that time anyway because I was always busy.

Kids should sleep whenever. It's their fault if they can't get up in the morning, at least that's the mindset I had to have.

When I was 16 it was 10pm, and I find that a good time. Mostly because ofcourse you have school/work to go to, so a good sleep is good. Ofcourse during vacations or free days it went to around 11pm.

if you are responsible and get your shit done (hmwk), and can then wake up for school without rushing, then whenever he/she wants. if not, a bedtime is a must!

I guess 11 would be pretty normal. I can stay up longer though but I usually end up sleeping at around 11-12. thats for weekdays. Weekend is no time to sleep.

It seems like since I started going to high school (last year) my dad doesn't really bother with me much. He lets me do everything and things like that as long as I keep my grades somehow average.

At 16 I had a curfew of 11pm. My parents weren't too strict on giving me a 'bedtime' since I was already working 2 jobs, babysitting and a paper route.

When I was 17 I didn't have a curfew at all, but I was the oldest child, worked and was responsible. If I wasn't going to be home when I said I would be, I always called so they wouldn't worry.

I don't think there should be a curfew but should go to bed depending on when they want to wake up. 7-8 hours of sleep is sufficient for me (and I'm 17) so I go to bed at 11 and wake up at 7.

16 is way too young to not have a curfew. It really depends on the kid though.

im 16 and just go to bed whenever ... somtimes not for a couple days ( not recomended)
As long as you are able to get at least 8 hours of sleep you really shoudnt need a bed time but if its during the school year around 10 is about right to wake up around 6 depending on what time your school starts

i think when someone is 16 he/she should be old enough to know that sleep is important~~, but still he/she should decide for him/herself when she go to sleep.

Whenever the hell he or she wants to go to sleep. A 16 year old should have some understanding in what he or she wants, and know what it takes to accomplish such.

Even though I wouldn't have said so when I was 16 but yeah going to sleep around 10 to 11 on a school day is probably the best for you.

I'm 24 now and I usually go to bed around that time since I have to work the next morning but for school going people it should be even more important. Regardless of what they may think about school you're working on your future and what you do at school now will for a large part decide your future.

So go to bed on time and do your best at school otherwise you'll be regretting it (like me...).

I never had a bedtime. I was just expected to wake up early (7:30/8am) or be on time to take the bus to school. As long as I did well in classes and other commitments everything was fine. I think that's a fair rule...not saying I agreed with it all the time (ugh 8am on weekends?!), but it was fair enough.

I agree with ya, for a 16 year old, go to bed at 11pm at least, because when you wake up for school, you wont be as tired.

my opinion is that everyone's different and got different needs and that includes sleeping, so it's up to the maturity of 16yos to realise how much they need

When a sixteen year old wants to go to bed?

I'm not sure about where you guys are but here sixteen is the age you can do everything to with adulthood that isn't fun.
Work, house owning, tax probably. Plus side might be sex but they don't do anything if you do it before anyway.

I ceased having a bed time when I was 15, but I rarely stayed up obscenely late (I got headaches in the morning). 11-12 is pretty normal, at least for everyone in my family. That said,if I had a reason (e.g. marathoning a season of something), I've stayed up until 7 or so.

Thinking about having a bed time now makes me lol, though. When I was 16 I got to stay home alone for a week, without even siblings. With alcohol. >:D

I sort of had a bedtime when I was 16 *is 17 now* but it dissapated after awhile. I usually stay up till 2 in the morning and then sleep for 3 hours and then wake up and go for a jog, but when it comes to those nasty headaches from sleep deprivation, I solve that with a 2 hour neko nap in the afternoon lol :3
