Towa no Yuugure Episode 1 Discussion

I really enjoyed it so far, episode 0 as well. The fight scene was pretty epic and I can see why it's adult rated now. But seeing the bodys being sliced was pretty satisfying to see.

We don't know the rules of this so you are just making assumptions that serve your point so far based on our own society. The easiest argument against that a connection with only women being problematic for this society is the fact that the OWEL organisation seems to run an extremely tight ship, so d you think they would let that happen if it wouldn't serve them in some way?

I think it's likely that the population numbers are controlled anyway, overpopulation can be just as problematic as the other way around if you don't have the ressources.

Of course I'm making assumptions of my own, but all I want to show is that if you get away fron the whole woke thing it'a not difficult to find alternative explanations.

@uselessDM Your point is valid, but the anime has already made it clear in this episode that its narrative will not be elaborate enough to override these Western dogmas and show how this world works from the current social, economic, population and ethical perspective.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the director is the author and he's Japanese, so I wonder if this is just a resource to gain the sympathy of Westerners or simply a part of something that will be addressed at the end of the anime. Remembering that the anime didn't mention the "marriage" of those people as something sexual, but rather as a "family," at least that was the impression I had, but one case doesn't cancel out the other.

They spent quite a bit of time laying out how it works, so I'm sure it will be relevant to the plot somehow. In a sense it's the only thing we really know about the society at this point.

I just don't really buy the argument that this is done to score browny points with a western audience, since even in the west marriage being open for same sex couples is a controversial topic to at least some degree, let alone things like polygamy which we basically see here. Unless it's done to create bit of controversy, but that goes against the trying to please the west argument, unless you want to argue they try to play both sides somehow, but that just seems so needlessly contrived for minimal gain I can't really imagine it either.

I wonder how japanese people see this, as I can't claim to be a great expert on japanese society, but from all I do know they seem to still be very traditional in terms of marriage and family, so this must be seem strange to a japanese audience for sure. And the rest of the society seems very traditional as well in terms of how everything works and could be western or japanese in my opinion, considering the buildings they construct seem to look more medieval or at least some sort of old european style than japanese or asian in general. Although it seems hard to pin down exactly what they look like. Also the church (or whatever it would be called) looks very christian as well in terms of architecture and with the stain glass window. I mean writing this the argument that this is meant to adress western audiences in some way almost starts to make sense again I think.

She has an anti-ballistic omni-directional shield and dude threw a pipe to protect her from what exactly? If this show doesn't rely a lot on its actions scenes, it will be a festival of bad writing, what a disappointment this first episode was.
