| So far, this is pretty much Hokkaido Gals but set in the southernmost prefecture of Japan instead of the northernmost. The sata andagi segment was the funniest, they included Evangelion references and Teruaki received a lifetime's supply of sata andagi. Osaka would love it. |
| Nice first episode. The Okinawa lore was quite intense plus Hina's Okinawan accent (subtitles) were hard to follow. Yup, I dig Kana. She's an adorable gal. I really want her to win but yea, we know Hina's gonna bag the W in the end.    |

| One minute into the show and I'm already sold! The art style is so majestic, the character designs are visually stunning, while the characters themselves are authentic. Not to mention how fortunate the mc is, living the dream of brownskin heaven...😭 Only to be taken out by a Kame kame attack! What ever this genre of culture anime this is, Japan needs to make more shows of this caliber! Also was anyone able to make out the Japanese words from Okinawaguichi? Okinawa girls > Hokkaido Girls Edit: Ironic how most people are against the gimmick of the show but would praise Komi can't communicate to be a great show despite the same concept. 🙃 Also the plot thickens (See below)  |

| This has been one of the shows i've looked most forward to this season and first episode sure doesn't disappoint. The characters are really lovely, the art style is nice and it's a really fun setting. I'm really looking forward to getting to know our characters better, and i really hope the romance in the story actually goes somewhere, no matter if it's with Hina or Kana (though i am rooting for my girl Kana). It's also really fun to learn more about Okinawa too, which the shows seems to be more than happy to tell more about, it's a region i would love to learn more about. Now i really want to try some sata andagi too, who wouldn't want fried sugar dough! |

| I thought that Okinawan culture wouldn't be that different from Japan's, but I was wrong. If a Japanese person like Teruaki has a hard time understanding their dialect, imagine a foreigner who knows some Japanese. This anime is adorable and educational, and gives an insight into the customs and culture of the Okinawan region. The ED is nice, seemingly based on a traditional Okinawan theme, and I really like the color palette the anime uses. As for the romance, it's fun and cute. Hina's voice actress does an amazing job, and while Hina is lovely, I can't deny my preference for Kana. I just hope that, unlike his struggle to understand Okinawan dialect, Teruaki realizes Kana's feelings for him and that his crush on Hina changes over time. |

As a big fan of the manga (waiting for the next volume in a few days), I was surprised and happy to hear about it getting an anime. I enjoy reading about Okinawan culture and learning the Ryukyu language. And Kana is very cute! On that part I think this anime will do its job and sell itself to the population of mainland Japan. The English speaking community though... my suspicion is that most viewers will watch this with the expectation of it being a regular romcom, which it very much isn't. Its first and foremost an educational piece about Okinawa and maybe fifth down the line comes the romcom aspect.
I'm among the niche in the English speaking community this appeals to and I really liked it. The anime did a great job adapting the manga! The voice actors are great and the pacing is good considering what they had to work with and it being an episodic.

Kind of hurts my brain though having to read multiple lines of subtitles at once and I am legitimately trying to carefully listen to this "accent" (it's really more a dialect isn't it?). At least I'm learning some things about Okinawa, though of course I am sure it is exaggerated lol Both girls are cute. | this feels like one hell of an anime to translate/localize... the fansub I watched opted for keep all the dialect words/expressions untranslated... it works, since the main character don't understand what she say anyways, but I think official translation or dub wouldn't allow themselves to do this, lol anyway, the episode was fun, the characters are enjoyable... kudos for the Eva reference... will follow |
| What I do know is that Teru has fallen in love with Hina and Kana who clearly loves Teru, it's clear and certain that this will be a love triangle. Well, a good start, the story that is definitely set in the island of Okinawa with their distinctive language accent makes this interesting. Hina and Kana are typical girls with different personalities, but seeing Hina and Kana like that I'm curious about what will happen to the three of them in the future.  |

| @Gween_Gween there won't be a big divergence from episode 1 if that's what you're asking. All the jokes are based on cultural or language differences. |

| Man, that was non-stop. I don't know if I'd call it good per se, but I certainly enjoyed every minute of it. Some of my favourite thoughts while I was watching were - The opening shows iconic okinawa things but also moai heads? Not sure if this will be explained or if they just thought the audience would not question it - Everyone is a pleasant shade of golden brown, except it often kind of looks like a sickly green. - The character art style looks like a hentai - The unintelligible okinawa dialect cold opening brings me joy, that japanese people should have to experience watching anime as I do - Did not expect the zombieland saga reference - BULLFIGHTING?! - breakneck pace here - An evangelion reference too? I wonder how many other references I am missing |
