too much drama in this episode, why ishigami got all this hate from his classmates?, there was no good reason for this, and we saw this in many other schools animes,+ he had to expose the other bastard guy, even the girl didn't deserve his help. |

Can't believe that I cried a bit, it has been a long time that a series reaches my cold heart. Ishigami 10/10 5/5 |

Loved this episode. Ishigami is awesome. I was getting kinda irritated with the NO EYES characters, but then it was revealed why they were animated like that! That was great, showing how the world opened up for Ishigami. And SHirogane, you have my respect. You are a great guy. No wonder Kaguya is hea over heels for him! |

Really feel this statement, which makes me think why those times I met up many kinds of people is actually rewarding. Meeting up and talking with riajuus/normies is sometimes much more heartily reassuring rather than to stick on your own flawed ideals. I can't think up on what kind of thing they actually have on their mind, but those seemingly naive but sincere acts are very appreciable and make you think that they probably are actually genuine. I really agree with many people that think this episode is very melodramatic, but I still love it anyway. |

Man! what a ride! They delivered a great message and pulled it of! It's been a long time that I can genuinely relate to a character. I was worried at first at what the viewers reaction would be to a sensitive story and as it came out, some are still cringy as hell. Well, It's expected to be since this anime received a lot of attention from a variety of audience (which I can say they definitely deserve it). It's amazing that "that" scene appealed to everyone even if they interpreted it in different ways and that's why they f***ing pulled it of so god damn good! If you're an Oregairu fan you know what I'm talking about. It's just the right balance of depressing and "the opposite of depressing" and you can tell that the creator/s balanced the message of "what ever the message is" to be easily swallowed by superficial value and to be dissected by those who wanted to dive into deeper meaning. damn this is long! |

Ishigami's past... behind all of his strange demeanor, there lies painful dark secret. Even thought he tried to protect the smile of his deary one,the odds didn't turn wel for him, even destroying him. Good grief, upon those worst people who broke him there are "student councils" (Miyuki and co.) who really saved him. this one bring some teary eyes to me. the "world" reveal (face reveal of cheerleader squad, including our Tsubame senpai XD) into Ishigami's pure smile.. that was epic scene. this is so beautiful... the way A-1 adapted Ishigami's past was so perfect...even tho, there are some details like Kaguya's act and investigation behind those stories, Chika's part too.. still this was really wonderful adaptation, perhaps that missing part'll be told in future season(I Hope...) |

What the fuck is this? This kind of drama? In this show? I fucking hate drama and there's two reasons why: first I'm a crybaby who's very easily moved to tears and I hate it about myself but it is what it is, second, drama is very rarely done right and tbh, unfortunately, this is one of those times that the drama is stinky shit. It's forced and very out of place. And it doesn't even make any sense. I mean really? Ishigami shouldn't have held it in he should've said it all out loud for everyone to hear: "Otomo you oblivious bitch, this dude is cheating on you and he showed me pictures of you in his phone and threatened me that he'll take it out on you if I told you about it" -or something along those lines. But instead Ishigami acted like a stupid fucking idiot retarded autistic kid that he is and stood there looking like a clown saying "Otomo this is crazy right", like holy fucking shit bro you think she'll believe you after seeing you beat the crap out of her boyfriend without knowing why? Fuck all this shit, this ain't realistic. Instead of feeling sorry for Ishigami it just made me hate him for being a stupid fuck. Just stick to comedy goddammit it's better that way. But I have to say though I'm glad Ishigami beat that kid and didn't apologize for it. And also, he's self aware, knows he's cringy and weird. |

Not only- none was standing for Ishigami yet all classmates were dispraising at him. He couldn't be that strong, he didn't own confidence to do anything else. He also didn't have any experience /get involved in dramas before. It was idiot and full of unrealistic if he would act in smarter way. It will betray all the character buildings and the episode just gone awful. Don't judge it because you cannot relate. |

"adolescent"? You mean that he was in middle school then? Come on that may be a couple of years tops before this but that's no excuse. Are you forgetting what started Ishigami's rampage? Otomo's boyfriend cheating on her with another girl? He just talked to his sidepiece about booking a hotel room? He just showed Ishigami what obviously are Otomo's nudes? Huh? Of course all these does not necessarily mean they're mature but fucking hell these aren't little innocent kids ffs. So don't tell me his age then is an excuse. And what are you saying "none was standing for Ishigami yet all classmates were dispraising at him." what weak ass bs pathetic excuse is this? Of course his classmates are gonna call him names and blame him, cause they didn't know any better! All they know is that this kid is beating another helpless defenseless kid out of jealousy! Wanna know why they don't know any better? Cause fucking Ishigami won't tell them shit! That's the point that I was making that clearly went over your head. He could've easily said "check his phone" and Otomo's boyfriend is done. They could easily see who he last called or who last called him = evidence that he's cheating, and Otomo's nudes which Ishigami can describe = evidence that he showed them to him. And that's it! But you have another stupid excuse why Ishigami didn't do that even though that's honestly just common sense. You said "He couldn't be that strong, he didn't own confidence to do anything else" wow seriously? He just beat up a dude who's physically bigger than him. And not just any dude, Otomo's boyfriend is famous in their school people love him while Ishigami is this quiet loner who has no friends. Despite all that, he beat that mofo up easily. If that doesn't show strength and confidence, then I don't know what does. There’s only one thing you said that I agree with, you're right I cannot relate to this bullhit at all. |

Also, even if, that's a big if, they showed Otomo's nudes to everyone that doesn't necessarily mean it will spread to the internet, it's not like people always have their phones out to sneak a photo when being showed nudes from another phone. Besides who would actually do that? You're reaching too much. There's nothing that can be said to make me change my mind to redeem this stupid episode to me. It ruined the whole season for me. Then again, if she truly wanted to know why he did what he did, she would at least have asked him. Maybe collaborate with the student council. What a POS girl. Also, huge respect to the student council and Iino. Glad Ishigami ended up together with them. No just no! the thing is she couldn't care less about him, and she cared more about the other guy. shit like this happens in real life. the guy was charismatic he would probably get away with it and on top of that, she probably wouldn't believe ishigami even if he told the truth. the guy was popular, ishigami was a loner, ishigami beat the popular kid. so who would believe ishigami. if by now you still don't get it then I'm sorry for you. lol I get the feeling you only read the top part of my comment. Read all of my comment please. Why do I get the feeling you didn't read it? Because I already kind of wrote what you did. She doesn't want to know his side of the story. Whether or not she would actually believe him if he were to tell her however, is another story (pun unintended). Either way, like I wrote, she doesn't care about Ishigami's story. She is a sorry excuse for a person if you ask me, and I think it's good Ishigami didn't end up with her somehow. Mohammadalmannai said: teubert2 said: I rated 4/5 because I'm disappointed Ootomo wasn't informed of Ishigami's point of view. Also, huge respect to the student council and Iino. Glad Ishigami ended up together with them. From the back story, Ootomo was nothing special to Ishigami, she is just that person that talked to him and made him happy; no prejudice. I honestly see why Ootomo is so mad and from her point of view, unless she knows the truth (she is blind by it cuz she doesn't know the truth to begin with) hence her hatred for Ishigami. If she made him happy, then she wasn't "nothing special" to him. I like to think it was a budding romance. She isn't mad just because she doesn't know the truth; it's also because she doesn't WANT to know the truth. I don't think she ever, not even for one second, gave any thought to the possibility that Ishigami was defending her when probably nobody else would. Instead of finding the truth, she would much prefer to bear a grudge for years. I think she is a terrible person for preferring to bear a grudge over trying to find the truth. So, budding romance, friendship, or maybe just status quo (prior to the incident), it's good he didn't spend any more time with her. He is too good for her. Also, screw the teacher/s who tried to make him write an apology letter also without investigating anything. This is what you said. "Then again, if she truly wanted to know why he did what he did, she would at least have asked him. Maybe collaborate with the student council. What a POS girl." as I have said she couldn't care less about ishigami what ever he did right or wrong. i don't see why you are not getting my point on what you said? the f she cared whats true. as I'm pointing out its very realistic in real life, some people couldn't care less about the truth. you rating it 4/5 because Ootomo didn't get Ishigami's point of view is lame, BECAUSE THE SCENARIO IS VERY REALISTIC BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE WILL BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT YOU DID AND KNOW. EVEN IF YOU DID THE RIGHT THING. YOU DONT SHOUT OUT THE GOOD THINGS YOU DO. YOU WOULDN'T SAY LOOK AT ME I DID A GOOD THING. THAT IS WHY ishigami WAS CONFLICTED ON BLURRING OUT THE THINGS HE KNEW BECAUSE IT WAS NOT THE RIGHT THING TO DO. BECAUSE IT WILL BACK FIRE AT OOTOMO! IF YOU STILL DONT GET THIS THEN I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH YOU First of all, dude, why are you so mad? Secondly, you said that she couldn't care less about him. That's what I said too with the words "...if she truly wanted to know...". Those 5 words are key. So, I don't disagree at all with you on her not caring about him. Same goes for the claim that certain (surprisingly many actually) people in real life don't care about what actually happened in X incident. I just wanted someone, like Kaguya at the end of the episode, to tell her Ishigami's story, even if that story wouldn't necessarily be believed at first. That is all. Finally, why should I care that you think my rating is lame? My opinion is mine, not yours. I can however tell you what to do with me; leave me alone instead of writing hate comments. the problem with your statement is with if's, there's no ifs not even a slight hint that she really wanted to know the truth. also you wanting otome to know ishigami's side is still a " happy ending route", that maybe the other person will realize in the end how good x person is. that shit is bull shit. real-life ain't like that. there's lot of relationships that don't get the conclusion they wanted, stories and sides which the other person never gets the chance to hear. anyway can't blame you, its just anime. as for ishigami's what he wanted was to protect otome's smile, and it was shown very clear what will happen to OTOME if she finds out the truth, sadly even now Otome is still attached with that cheating guy and not knowing the truth is what's protecting her smile. anyway sorry for the caps lock. Ah, now I get it. You don't know the definition of "if", or at least not the definition I'm using. It all makes sense now. Take a look here https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/if the definition I'm using here is "1". I'm talking about a hypothetical scenario, not what is actually happening or is going to happen. There doesn't need to be any hints for anything. It's completely valid no matter what. Why? Because it's hypothetical. It needs no justification to exist as a thought. It's like this: If: "Wants to know." Then: "She would do this." While I appreciate the apology for the all caps lock, I wasn't just referring to the all caps part of your comment. We all make the mistake of accidentally pressing "caps lock" at some point while typing, if only once. What I'm really talking about is all the insults in all of your comments. Saying my opinion is "lame" isn't exactly a nice thing to say to someone, even if you disagree with them. It's also not very polite to say "if by now you still don't get it then I'm sorry for you. lol". There are more examples that I'm not going to list in this comment. Please stop insulting people solely because their opinion may or may not be different from your own opinion. Please accept the fact that they are entitled to their own opinion, and also accept the fact that their opinion does not need to be the same as yours. The problem is you based your judgement with the IF. Which is basically saying giving all the possibility that can transpire, you dont judge it with the if of what you want but of what is. especially if the if’s has no chance at all. Its like saying if ishigami suddenly became a ninja and won the race problem solve! you basically said” 4/5 because otome didnt get to know ishigamis side” which basically means you failed to understand the complete picture. that her not knowing the trurth is whats keeping her smile and is what ishigami is trying to protect all along. that is why he keeps erasing everything he wanted to write. It was also emphasize how she is still into that guy so knowing the truth now will still be devasting to her. What iritates me is having an opinon yet not understanding the complete picture. We are all entitled with our opnions but lets not get senseless. Would it make sense if i rate it a 1/5 because it doesnt have any action on it and luffy was not on it? Would it be great to judge it by some ifs without even having the slightest chance of it happening? When its very clear what the direction of the story was for ishigami. If it's still unclear to you, its for ishigami to move forward without needing any conclusion with otome because there's more to life than your past. and for otome to stay innocent of what has transpired. Because that’s what’s keeping her smile. If her knowing ishigamis side and she gets burned by kaguya and left crying and her heart and mind in shambles because she deserves it, even thou cleary that's what ishigami’s been trying to avoid all along and what the show keeps portraying and saying and everything which contradicts with everything that the show is fundamentally is saying. Will make you rate it a 5/5. Then okay. Nice hypothetical scenario. Yes we all have opinions and the earth is flat! Covid is a hoax! And vaccines are scams! No, there is no problem with my judgement based on the "IF". Why? Because it is my opinion, not yours. I can judge the anime however the hell I want. Do you get paid for this or something? Do you work on this anime or the manga? I do not believe I fail to understand anything. From my point of view, it is you who fail to understand something; that I am allowed to have a different opinion from you. Not just that, you also fail to understand that my opinion is not necessarily worth any less than yours. I do not believe her smile would be destroyed if Ishigami told her of what happened from his point of view. Instead, I think she would get an even bigger smile. After all, that would answer one of her questions; she would finally understand why the POS dude broke up with her. I think she would get closure from all her hatred. There is nothing unclear to me; you WANT me to be unclear when I am actually not unclear about anything. I'm not unclear, I just have a different opinion than you. I interpreted what happened different from you. Your interpretation isn't the only one allowed. There isn't anything that proves your interpretation right. You are assuming you are right, when it is a possibility you aren't. Until you can prove your opinion objectively right, or I can prove mine objectively right, both our opinions are valid. When will that happen? Probably never. I doubt the author of the manga or the anime staff are ever going to make an alternate scenario in which Ootomo is told Ishigami's story. So, neither your opinion nor mine is ever going to be proven wrong. Why? Because there will never be unbiased evidence. In the case of vaccines, flat Earth, and Covid-19, there's plenty of unbiased evidence. There is none in our case. There is absolutely zero proof that you are right and I am wrong. You want there to be proof that her heart would be in shambles, but there isn't any objective proof of that. That is why your opinion is not the only one allowed and is not worth any more than mine. Frankly, I wouldn't give af if you rated it 1/5 because Luffy wasn't in the episode. I can enjoy watching an anime even when others are hating it. I suggest you care the same about my rating. This is just being ignorant and stubborn, when it clearly shows that didn't understand the episode. it seems like you watch a different show than what i did. funny how people can't accept the facts. you don't seem to get me here that having an opinion isn't the point here. its about the basis of the opinion. i've clearly said the points that has been emphasize in the show. clearly you need to rewatch it again like 1000times. ishigami erasing the things he wrote in the paper otome still visiting ishigami because of what he did, and its been clear that she still wants to reconnect with that guy. kaguya saying so thats what you wanted to protect " shows show otome's smile ishigami surrounded by the everyone he cares about, and seeing that his past doens't matter now. that he has to move forward. or do you want me to go word by word? IM NOT INTERPRETING. ITS CLEARLY WHAT THE SHOW IS SAYING. No, you are interpreting. How? Because there is no objective proof. With no objective proof, I interpreted it this way (reply to the four points of yours): 1. Ishigami erased what he wrote, or didn't write anything at all, because he was afraid of what was going to happen (he was threatened by her bf) + he couldn't get himself to say he was wrong when he was in the right. It can be quite painful to admit you're wrong when you're not. 2. Ootomo visited for her friends' sakes + Ishigami (to being an arse to him) + probably also for a potential meeting with ex (because she doesn't know better). 3. It doesn't matter whether Kaguya wants to protect Ootomo's smile or not. We don't know if her smile would actually be ruined. That's an assumption on your part. The road to hell is paved with good intentions; Kaguya may want to protect the "smile", but what proof exists that this current "smile" isn't inferior to a new one gained via enlightenment? 4. I agree with that. I will say it again; there is no objective proof of anything. No one has made an official alternate scene in which Ootomo does not stay ignorant. Rewatch it 1000 times? I have a life but thank you for the suggestion. I might consider it when I stop having a life and start caring about people rating my favourite anime 4/5 instead of 5/5. it's a shame that some moderators deleted my replies. so I'm keeping this as short as possible or not, and so we don't have to dig deep. from this one segment alone will say it all. this is from the show itself and no added "interpretation" as you say. scene. ishigami angrily saying he couldn't careless what happens with anyone and just wanted to spill everything and started writing. then suddenly the next frame shows Otomo smile. which then brings to the next instant frame, ishigami erasing those writings. if this couldn't get any precise and that it needed a word for word explanation from some narrator to whats going then screw that. NOW WE GET TO THE TIMESTAMPS. AND FACTS AS YOU SAY I GOT NOTHING IN MY HANDS. time stamps on emphasis with Otomo smile ishigami - "somehow it felt like she saved me" shows Otomo smiling and laughing, TIME -5:30 ishigami - "at that time i had an EXCESSIVE sense of justice" I couldn't let a good person get hurt AGAIN SHOWS AN IMAGE OF OTOMO SMILLING. TIME- 6:45 ishigami - " he can go to hell, I'll spill everything. etc. etc" frames showing him writing i just want to be set free, then shows otomo smiling holding an eraser. he keeps saying I'll write it. but he then started erasing all of a sudden. TIME - 13:20 ShIgorone - " so in conclusion, the reason you didn't refute, because it was to protect Kyoko otomo" SO AS SAID EVEN ALL THE StudentCouncil CONCLUDED THAT THE REASON HE COULDN'T DO IT WAS NOT BECAUSE OF ALL OF THOSE YOU SAID. BUT BECAUSE TO PROTECT OTOMO TIME - 15:52 and the nail in the coffin KAGUYA -" I GET IT, SHE'S BLISSFULLY IGNORANT, THAT SMILE OF HERS IS WHAT ISHIGAMI PROTECTED. SHOWS OTOMO SMILLING" TIME 21:59 NOW regarding the threat, it was for Otomo and seems like you didn't understand that so I'm going to write it here as well. ogino -" stop it now, and i won't take it out on "otomo" ogino -"if you spill it, Kyoko will become the object of pity" this is what he was afraid of. OTOMO LOSING HER SMILE TO PROTECT HER. I decided to drop by again on a whim. It seems that mods have deleted my last reply without notifying me. Extremely rude as it was a farewell message. This is one of the reasons why I hate forum mods no matter the website, and why I almost never use forums anymore. Anyway, judging from the fact you made another lengthy reply, I'm going to assume you didn't see that final message of mine before it was deleted. That's their fault, I'm not blaming you. I sadly do not remember everything I wrote in my last reply, but it was basically a farewell reply to you. My last reply to you. Probably ever too, as I have put you on every ignore list that exists. I may not remember my previous reply in its entirety, but I do remember the last few words though it is possible they are slightly different from how I remember them: "Goodbye. To be honest I wasn't too happy with how Ishigami's past was handled. I get why he didn't want to reveal everything, cause of possible revenge on the girl (probably by releasing those photos the guy had of her), but I still feel like they could have done something. Now the poor girl will also be forever oblivious to this. I'm happy to hear at least that the manga did this chapter much better and we got to learn the fate of the guy, and how he was removed thanks to Kaguya and those certain VIPs. Also the fact that every member of the council (even Iino beforehand) helped revealing these and getting him to be able to attend the school. Still, I wish the girl was told at least. I know it's in the past, but it seems like she will just resent poor Ishigami. |

BlufaceBaby said: Never save these hoes this Ishigami was a simp and faced the consequences for being one. Like, he could've cleared his name, the two were clearly in the wrong. One for cheating and threats of revenge porn and the other for taking part in it as well at such a young age. Fast forward to high school, the same girl didn't learn anything and still held by her stockholm syndrome. Still wants to be with her abuser, bad boys really do make girls itch after all. Ishigami tried to 'save' this girl but she's a hopeless ticking time bomb bound to redo her mistakes. She's not even helping herself. Massive redpills from this anime including the previous episode where Shirogane's father lost his job and is still in love with his wife despite her cheating and leaving. Won't be surprised if the mother returns once he becomes a "stable and reliable man" once she's all used up, undesirable and dumped by all her boyfriends. From a generic cringe romcom to a massive reality pilled anime. This show is now a 10/10. |

People in this thread acting they've never once acted irrationally in their lives. Damn, must be nice. Anyway, great episode, and great handling of a side character arc. No, it's not strictly speaking necessary, but the arc doesn't overstay it's welcome, and integrates nicely into the main storyline. |

Felt kinda cheap to make Kyouko and her boyfriend into caricatures but it's an effective way to get the viewers railed up. Also, I can't really say it was unjustified for Ishigami to get treated the way he did, he made no attempts to explain himself so I don't know how you were expecting people to react. In America, you get respect for being a "tough guy" in school but apparently not in Japan. |

There is the daughter of the boss of a powerful Yakuza family, the son of the police commissioner, the granddaughter of a renowned shinto priest, the daughter of one of the biggest ship-building companies in Japan (Kashiwagi Nagisa - the girl who talks with Kaguya about love) amongst others. Apart from Kashiwagi, none of them are introduced in the story (of the anime) yet. Well, we don't know in the anime that Kashiwagi is actually one of the Shuchiin VIPs and would do unpleasant things without batting an eye seeing how she playfully talks about romance with Kaguya and others. Thanks for the deepening, I didn't really expect Nagisa to be part of this. |

I'm speechless, it's been a while since I watched an anime that moves me so much emotionally, this episode has a change of tone from comedy to drama in a masterful way, I got my eyes teary knowing what Ishigami has gone through, that Kyouko girl is pathetically ignorant I feel bad for her, but hey it's what Ishigami wants to protect, Ishigami is such a good soul. Fuck Ogino, one of the lowest of scums in anime lol. And, Shirogane is THE BRO, his scene opened the door to Ishigami's room is perfection, he's the badass that saved Ishigami's life. |

The most serious and heaviest story in the series yet also the best and my favorite arc. I cried when I first read this. The monologue and the flow of the story was done beautifullly and the atmosphere of the entire thing really gets to you. I can hear my heart beat during that and after reading it, I stopped for a good 5 minutes or so just to think about what happened. So when I heard that this got a second season, I was really excited to see Ishigami's arc. This episode alone is the only deciding factor whether I will give this a 10 if handled properly. And my god they did it. The directing was phenomenal and I was at the edge of my seat the entire time (Not really since I was lying when I watched this). Beautiful episode, one of my favorites. I don't care what happens after this. You'll get my 10/10 rating. |

Yasss... I was looking forward to Ishi's background sidestory. He's had it tough, and he's a good guy deep inside, and I think it's his arcs in the source manga where the series usually gets the darkest/most somber. It's a wonderful and much-welcome contrast to the rom-com antics of this series. Others may have already pointed it out, but, note that the usually comical narrator NEVER MADE A COMMENT in this entire episode. That's how much serious Ishi's past was. As already shown, the original Student Council had a hand too, but it's great how Shirogane did a great job extending a much-needed helping hand for the poor guy... and I'm sure he didn't do it out of just pity but respect. And that's how I suppose the two guys have had this great sense of mutual respect (though I'm sure Ishi respects Shiro WAY more) that I refuse to summarily term as mere "bromance". Thanks to this one episode I'm excited to go back reading the manga and blaze through to the Ishi arcs. |

Mad respect for Ishigami, he's been holding on to a really big problem for a long time, I'm glad that he's a little better now, that girl is such an idiot, even wanting to get back together with that boyfriend of hers. 5/5 Episode, now onto the last one. |

I started this episode and I was like ,, Yay , another funny episode of romantic mind games between Kaguya and Shirogane ,, . Welp shit is about to go down from 0 to 100 very quickly . Backstory of Ishigami made me cry for whole next 2 hours . |
