well, this chapter was little boring for me, same as the previous one. there were no mysteries revealed, only fighting. but there're people who want some action etc, so it's ok... one month is little two much, but now that we have before the fall and levi manga too, it's going to get more interesting. jesus, i started reading the ongoing manga since the 47th chapter. i read the 47th chapter on mangahere and the page order was messed up, and i didn't know that. even since that chapter(the 48th and 49th) chapters, were all about fighting and action, but i seek mystery. so that's why i'm little dissapointed...

Everyone ready for Erwin to grow his arm back lol. Knowing Erwin he probably lost it on purpose after seeing that he needed to boost morale. If he grows it back I will seriously be shocked.

There was a lot of action in this chapter and I really thought bert had died. Dammit.

Holy crap armin, doing something so diabolical. Nice to see that he is learning from erwin and doing what needs to be done. Though the fact that bert called him a hell spawn really pissed me off especially after he has killed so many people.

Anyway finally, the fucking Titan that killed erens mum, I've been wondering where it went and wether it really is just a nomal Titan. Time for Eren to loose it and maybe develop new Titan skills while in his rage such as the bone producing skill which is awesome.

To be honest the Titan that killed erens mum popped out of nowhere so I'm thinking that maybe it isn't as simple as it looks and that Titan either hold deeper meaning or that its gonna mess up the already messed up situation.

From what I see, I think Armin's belief where good leaders are those that are willing to sacrifice anything will be his own downfall. At some point in the series I think there will be a moment where he had sacrificed too much that it ruined his life, his comrades barely trusts him, and he could sacrifice just about anything for the good of humanity, even himself. Just like Erwin.
I know that Erwin doesn't like sacrificing soldiers, but when Levi told him many soldiers died to capture Annie, his only reply was "Is that so?". He got used to it. And while his heart probably aches, to the people outside he looks like he doesn't really care. Perhaps that's why Shadis passed the torch to Erwin.. Because Erwin knows that sacrifices are necessary and are willing to actually sacrifice anything

I think when Bert snapped at Armin it shows how emotional he can be.. he was pretty much a silent character for most of the series, and now he's fully releasing all those pent up frustrations, anger, and guilt.
Reiner developed some kind of double personality to get away from his guilt, and Annie minimizes the amount of people she associates with. With Reiner having his episodes, and Annie being unapproachable as she is, Bert was alone to deal his pent up feelings.. I was actually pretty surprised by his outburst in chap 48. It was unexpected and a good move by Isayama

Maybe it is, but it's still kinda sad to see Armin's innocence slowly stripped away by this war. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the series he will developed similar coping mechanism as Erwin.. which is to just "move on"

Hannes is probably going to kill or die trying to kill the titan that killed Eren's mom 5 years ago. Armin has outdone himself again, and appears to understand that sacrifices are necessary. Maybe he'll become the next "Erwin"? And like someone else here said, Armin might even die because of that as long as it helps humanity win the war.
Erwin has lost an arm, and I don't think he'll live much longer but for now, he is a certified badass.

That ending wow I never expected to see the titan that killed Eren's mother again. And yeah, I would love to see Hannes kill it and redeem himself from before. Also that part with Armin yelling at Berthold was pretty awesome and then with Erwin cutting Eren free.

My only question now is where is the Ape Titan. That's the thing I'm most curious about right now, even more so than why Reiner and Berthold want to take Eren to their hometown. I really want to know who or what that thing is.

Hannes will kill the titan and die with it. This is going to be development for him, Eren and Mikasa. It's basically him going to to apologize to Mikasa and Eren of what happened 5 years ago.

Omg definitely a 5/5!

It was freakin epic. that titan came back I thought it died even though they never showed it I didn't know it would come back and be so important. Omg I feel like it's the dad or something. And then Jean saved Mikasa. And omg it was just too good. Irvin is amazing. But what shocked me the most is that titan came back. I need a new chapter right now waiting a month is too much!! T^T

Another intense chapter. I love seeing Bertholt and Reiner rage at Armin's "we're torturing Annie" speech. Serves those backstabbers right.

Next chapter will be Eren going postal and maybe Hannes redeeming himself.

This chapter holy shit!

Erwin's comeback is just epic! Even he lost one of his arm, he still manage to save Eren in style lol. Glad he still safe.
That Armin's rape face was unexpected & his lies manage to fool Bertholdt good job!
Funny that their actions seems like a tag team between insane strategists, just look at their crazy faces in this chapter XD

Jean saving Mikasa was really sweet. Also that Titan at the end, damn!

Up till this chapter, I just realized that all the higher up in Scouting Legion are now injured. Erwin lose his arm, Hanji got heavily burned & Levi break his leg. What making it worse that their subordinates are all dead which is depressing when you look at it. ;_;

Excellent chapter. I love the craftsmanship that went into setting up this situation with Hannes, Eren, and Mikasa. The predictable result is that Hannes confronts the titan this time and dies killing it, in a sort of poetic circle of events. But given Isayama's penchance for subverting traditional shounen tropes, I've learned not to expect anything. Which makes the wait for the next chapter so much more delicious.

Jean, Armin, and Erwin also demonstrate why they're three of the best written and badass characters in the manga. Armin's subtle development is glorious to behold. He's honestly capable of being more of a monster than Eren or Mikasa.

Well at least he stopped Mikasa from dying. Eren saw that Mikasa was in danger, but he couldn't do anything because of Bert.
After seeing in Mikasa in danger and that titan again, hopefully Eren goes in HAM next chapter. Mind you though, I have a real bad feeling about Hannes.

I swear if Jean and Mikasa does happen, I will break somebody as a sacrifice to the gods.

I have to say after saving Eren I was surprised that Erwin could ride that course, I mean it must be extremely uncomfortable for him, seeing as he has the largest testicles known to man.

One of the most epic chapter up to date. I'd never expected Erwin to survive that situation and he even made his come back the most manliest ever. Jean saving Mikasa was sweet and oops, Mikasa looks like she was injured.

And that bastard showed up again...the titan who ate Eren's mom, that is. I reckon it has some kind of importance to the story. 5 / 5 from me.

It gives me some bad feelings, but who else who have saved her, Eren was bound and gagged. Still Jean doesn't deserve Mikasa, he only fell for her looks, Mikasa loves Eren because of who he is, not what he looks like.

I kept on confusing Christa with Armin, orz.

Anyway, people kept on telling me to read this chapter, and I was completely tired. The whole time I was like, "Is that Irvin or Jean, and who the heck is that again? What's going on?"

And then I see the last page, and I'm just like; 0_0 'the only titan in this whole series that actually creeps me out comes back, whhattt?"

Haha I kept getting confused with Irvin in Jean as well but I managed to find out who's who. I didn't know that titan would be a big deal. I thought he already died or something. He does look creepy though.

What are the chances Erwin could be a Titan Shifter? He didn't flinch at the loss of his own arm. We know he's a badass, but perhaps there could be another reason it didn't seem to faze him? like he knew it would grow back? I might be stretching here. I thought I remembered seeing his cheek get cut and heal with steam like a titan too.

Loved the moment when he charged at Bert
So bad ass

So the smiling titan returns. I am looking forward to see Eren killing that titan & also dont die Mikasa (she's pretty awesome too, saving Eren from falling).

& Last for Armin. Genius man. Totally mind blowing. He's becoming more and more of my favourite with every episode/chapter. True Mastermind!

i was wondering, i don't remember exactly, but i think that when reiner was in that castle, i don't know it's name, with bertholdt, ymir and connie, after he hurted his armem, he didn't regenerate it immidiately. than he put it in bandage. and when he told eren the truth, then he regenareted his arm with evaporation. at least i remember it like that. maybe irwin hides his titan shifting ability and somehow stops the evaporation and renegeration of his arm at that moment...

Somehow I think this was a better chapter than let's say the last 3, but still all that fighting is really getting a little too much lately. It feels like we're getting nowhere with it.
I mean, I even wanted for Rainer and Berthold to succeed so that I could see what exactly awaits us in their home town.

But since Eren is rescued, all that will happen is that they are going back home, so for now none of the secrets that I want to be revealed so badly will be answered any time soon, it's frustrating. Still it was a surprise to see that titan that ate Eren’s mother again, but then again this will lead to just some more fighting in the next chapter.

I wonder how long it will take until some bigger secrets will be revealed…

To the Titan who ate Eren's mom, this could go either way:

  • He's actually an intelligent Titan, who is kinda dumb and reveals some secret.

  • Hannes clashes with him, saving Eren and Mikasa. He might sacrifice himself/survive and return.
