Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto Episode 9 Discussion

I think this episode of Monica crying about Casey would have had more impact if their friendship was emphasized more. Like Casey actually being more active in helping Monica with ballroom dancing back then or her trying to ease the tension between Claudia and Lana and how she helps Monica. They rushed so much when it would have been fine if they did a time skip here and there.

Monica’s VA carried a lot but the pacing and storyboard leave something to be desired. There were silences when there shouldn’t be. Louis’s big role in Monica’s life also is overlooked. Everything that man says to Monica is actually a golden teaching for her later on.

Also, they unnecessarily left quite a big plot hole when there wasn’t one in the manga/LN. Literally a reason Casey “hated” Monica was both a pretense and a way for her to keep her villainess act till the end. She targeted Monica because Prince Felix, who was to have many certain scenes with Monica in the previous episodes, actually cared for Monica a lot and was seen to be partial to her. THAT was the reason why she tried to be close to Monica. The original plan was to seduce Felix besides using the Spiralflame.

I guess this is another miss in adaptation because they weren’t given enough episodes to really flesh out some relationships. It feels so off that they’re showing Felix’s admiration for the Silent Witch so late too when it was already shown earlier on in the source. Could’ve made Felix overhearing the Silent Witch is there at school seem more exciting.

There’s also the fact that they missed to show another worldbuilding aspect too when Monica and Felix were horseriding, but then again, there’s no certainty there’d be a 2nd season. The Spiralflame was also dismissed so easily when it’s another important bit that would be relevant in future stories.

Oh well, just hope they do the next arc okay. They have only 4 episodes in the season. This might be a case of an anime-only ending TT

@witchhuntress Even though they're skipping a lot of content, I still think they put in way too much effort for what would be an anime-only ending. Besides, based off some quick investigation, the show is seems popular (on the internet) in Japan. The last episode especially was equaling engagement with DanDaDan / My Dress-Up Darling in some very specific instances (Japanese reaction channels, NicoNico per-episode engagement). Not sure how well this translate to actual merch sales or IRL popularity, but the LNs are also ranking very highly in some online Japanese bookstores as well. If they keep up the quality of the last 2 episodes, I could imagine the show getting a season 2.

First episode of this series I didn't like. Am I supposed to feel sorry for a murderer? Give me a break. Forced drama over nothing.

Damn. If they dont end up together, i ll riot. Felix and monica chemistry more natural than forced cyril! We need to support our otp in author x and other platform. Its not cliche relationship so better!

However, Felix has had feelings for Monica (the silent witch) since before Cyril and he tries hard to get Monica's attention

@Andrzej2 Yes, it might seem absurd from our perspective, but try to see it through Monika's eyes.

After living alone, being abandoned by people and bearing immense torture, she finally managed to make friends for the first time, friends she became deeply associated with, only to find that one of her friends is trying to assassinate the person she's in guard of. And it wasn't like Casey was a cruel person to begin with; it was her circumstances that made her do that.
I don't know about you, but during the horse riding class, I felt lonely as Casey wasn't there to teach her, for whom she selected this class in the first place.

And not to mention, Monika is a crybaby, so her heart ain't strong enough to tolerate all this.
