A wolf, witch, ogre and tengu living under one roof now. This’ll be fun lol. That was an awesome end to the cour wow. Very strong finish after I started kinda meh on this series. I really like it a lot now, the cast are loveable and idk there’s just a really strong family vibe in this show that resonates with me. They might fight like cats and dogs, but at the end of the day, they all have each other’s backs.

The enchanter arc actually ended a lot smoother than I anticipated too. They did a great job of hiding how small she was lmao, did not see that coming. Keigo vs Moi was really the only difficult thing and that was just because Moi didn’t want to hurt him too bad. Got the healing potion, beat the enchanter and knocked out wolf peacefully, only thing we didn’t get was the big bad’s name.

I got a little emotional seeing Keigo’s mom get healed. I’m never gonna fault anyone for choosing their mom over some people they just met. He just wanted to heal her and in the end it worked out well, so he’s good in my book. Plus, now he’s gonna be living with the gang and getting even closer. Second cour should be awesome I can’t wait!

Also Nico is such a hero for using her own panacea to help Keigo’s mom. She might act slow, but she’s such a selfless kind person
@Marinate1016 Makes me curious where they'll wrap up the last episode, we're not quite at the halfway point in the run, but I think we'll be meeting a new character that'll be part of the main cast that doesn't expand much until after a big event. But some fun secondary characters will show up by association to the new character, so it's a general win

Wait, does that old witch die for real? Because that'd be the first on-screen death of this anime, a death toll is something I'm not appreciate.

With that said, what I appreciate is that this anime will have a second cour. I always watch this under the impression that it only has one cour and I've to wait months or years for the sequel.

Keigo joining the team officially now. I always welcome a character that has knot like him.
@phantomfandom The death toll is generally low, but Shinohara is not above it, there's a serious undertone to the plot alongside the 80% slice of life/gag/romance content

Well the Enchanter was a bit of a let down of a fight...thought her and Nico would have a magic battle off. However, how this episode played out made more logical sense within this world of Witches and Warlocks and a huge magic battle wouldn't feel right.

Yet, we still got treated to a great battle between Morihito and Kegio. Then in the end Kegio was able to accomplish his goal with the help of Nico and his friends allowing his mom to walk again which was lovely.

Now that Kegio has moved in it seems like we will return to the more slapstick comedy of this show for a while, before the next big bad appears for Nico!
@Eva_PhoenixAnime I'm not sure where they confirmed it, but this big bad doesn't make a proper appearance until much later, but this would be their first appearance. I have to wonder if they discovered the forbidden spell to unlock powers or if it's part of their own magic, I'm thinking the former rather than the latter with the "sacrifice" for the power

Glad I skipped last week and watched these back to back. Didn't see that coming with the wolf kid, though kinda dumb he has moved in too. Might as well throw the cat girl in while they're at it 9_9 Still failing to see how sending Nico to school has done anything but make her less safe, and exposed her and those around her to even more danger. Instead of the adults giving them vague warnings of when danger is coming wouldn't it be better for them, as skilled magic users, to protect her?
That being said after a strong start this show has been pretty hit or miss for me, to the point where I skip it now. Too bad, hopefully things pick up next cour.

The battle against the Enchanter went quicker than I expected it to be, which I do applaud Nico and Kanshi's teamwork for being very effective. I also didn't expect the Enchanter herself to be really small, but that was the price she paid for the powers that she has be given.

Morihito and Keigo's battle was a pretty tense one at that. Both were pretty even, but Morihitio's cool-headed plan to lure and bait Keigo with his attacks won him the match. Later on, we get to see Keigo's mother and learnt that she was the one who was seriously injured in that car crash, leaving her wheelchair bound, which was one of a few reasons as to why Keigo paused his figure skating career. Thanks to Nico's powers, Keigo's mother was given a new lease of life for her legs, helping her to walk again, which made for a pretty emotional scene.

I do prefer the slapstick side of this series more, but these last few episodes did a solid job in terms of taking the story in a more serious direction. Who knows when the story will get more serious again and I do look forward to watching that when it happens, but I'm happy that the preview of the next episode looks to be fully focused on the comedy side. =)
@Meta_Yoshi I wonder what her specialty magic was, unless it was general enchantment. The clothes that attacked Nico early on would've been her handiwork, but I feel like it might be something general like imbuing magic into objects, which has a LOT of potential if someone else had that ability and became good

@Drz58 He covered his bases, we still don't know a lot about him, only particulars on his overall plan that all feels like it's a totally different manga. If you cut only the relevant content for the serious storyline, the manga'd be half as long, if not shorter depending

@Sigmar-Unberogen It'll be a bit until there's another witch introduced that's friendly, though I predict a lot of people really liking her, especially if you like the big sister/maternal archetype

uuhhh it's happy n all but that is some bad writing. morihito is weaker than keigo and didn't live up to the expectations was a disappointment, childish forgiving act. at least dude will sacrifice himself if needed now.
@ultramb How is he weaker when he wins in the end? Pure strength isn't the best way to win, it's just the easiest from a novice's standpoint. And while, sure, he used the opening from Nico's spell to land the hit, doesn't mean he couldn't have beaten him otherwise by finding some kind of vulnerability, especially when we heard from the enchanter that ogre are more known for toughness than power, he could've taken a blow, then pinned Wolf and judo slammed him or such.

The series isn't as much about fighting anyway, so overanalyzing is kind of pointless for us to do. Wolf gets more development, Morihito's fighting capacity expands as well, he has a whole training sequence that's half comedy and half serious

This anime got me emotive with Nico healing Keigo's mom, him crying in her arms from happiness was heartwarming :')
And now Keigo joins the house, I hope Nemu is the next to start living with them lol
@kumorikami There are limits to the house size and I think Shinohara realized that, since the capacity is reached later. But Nemu is criminally underutilized, sadly, I love any chapter she popped up in through the manga and she does get some awesome moments eventually with her magic

@LordCrueltyV I think the idea is much more "Eastern" in a sense, the skinship bonding not as much a thing in European or American contexts. Russia seems to have something akin to that, possibly even Nordic countries, if Vinland Saga and Golden Kamuy are any indication of it even slightly.

The idea of that physical intimacy probably is also pretty specific in a way, not necessarily something most Japanese would affirm these days, regardless of if they're from just post WW2 or post bubble generation. My guess is it's more specific to yakuza or similar kind of close knit organizations, but I could be wrong

This show continues to be full of surprises, with one of them being that Keigo was doing this not for himself but for his mother, wow. Another surprise was the fact that he's now moving in with Morihito and the rest of the gang! At this point it feels that Nico will have 24/7 protection with 3 guys around. On that note it's too bad that Nemu won't join Nico (at least at this point there's no indication she will move in) as I really like her and this scene she was in made me laugh out loud (this was her reaction to seeing Nico and Morihito hug):

@Alfredo-Sauce She speaks like there still are regular animal familiars, which I think we do occasionally see from some characters, but the human type are more common for the story

New vampire boy character and another new with no info beyond name, Rui Fujiki; bikinis on the beach episode; looks like Nemu gets more screen time; Keigo must beware of crescent rolls; ... and a kisu on the cheek for Nico.
@LordCrueltyV Rui is pertinent, though not overall, the vampire character will stick around more. And I think the bikini/swimsuit stuff isn't at the beach if it's the one I'm thinking of, though there may be a beach chapter later on I've forgotten

@wenzdae-kun Shinohara doesn't use her a lot overall, though she will show up when her particular magic is relevant and in the big climactic plots like here. Same with other ladies introduced, it's kind of a weird trait that besides Nico, there's only one female I can think of that really gets development and that's because she's tied to Nico (and it's not her mom, btw)

This episode actually got more emotional than I thought it would with Nico curing Keigo’s mother and the entire gang tearing up together. How big is Morihito’s home now that Keigo is actually moving in. They are collecting roommates with each arc.

Fortunately they managed to solve all the problems with the witch and Keigo's werewolf pact but it seems like someone had to shut down the witch when she was about to reveal why they were after Nico... that's very strange. Anyway Keigo is moving to Morihito's house now lmao, it's great that they could heal his mother's legs since he wasn't doing all that for him but for her

Wow, that whole drama was a flash in a pan. It was over so quickly, except not because the mastermind is out there still. But as far as the story is concerned I think this arc is done.

Nico could have held onto the Panacea but then she might have lived her entire life and never used it like someone hoarding potions for a RPG boss fight and never using them. But this is a coin well spent because this way she gets yet another powerful protector and friend.

Looking forward to next weeks episode, dogs and cats living together, what madness is this?!

I'm still not on board with Keigo being a werewolf 😴 Him being just a normal fucking dude hanging out with a trio of weirdos was funnier, but whatever.

I'm glad for Keigo's mother, but idk, wasn't that selfish of Nico? I mean, that medicine is supposed to heal anything, right? Can't it heal stuff like cancer? Because if it can, then healing someone's cancer would be a better option... I'm not saying Nico can eliminate cancer, or any other illness like that, but...

Also, isn't it like, sad? They healed Keigo's mom wonderful, but because of that she had to separate from his son to work overseas... Idk how to feel about that, since the characters completely ignored it lol
It may not be a big deal, but it's still something that happened as a result of using magic...

Whatever, I'm thinking too much about logic things lol

Nico has 3 familiars now, and Nemu still has none, give my girl Nemu a familiar and make him be the sickest one 😭
I love how everyone immediately became friends with her too, that's wholesome.

After all the fighting Moi comes up on top! Nico is so nice she tries to show mercy, but the Warlock is killed by a restriction spell when trying to tell them about the true enemy.

Shocker - Keigo wasn't doing everything for himself, but to try get a cure for his mother who was paralyzed in the car accident! Ooooh! Turns out the Warlock couldn't have provided the cure as it's only for witches born from witches! Oops.

Nico being really nice actually gave up her one and only cure for Keigo's mom. When she started walking all the anime characters were in tears, and me too. Aww. Happy tears. The food scene after was lovely.

So Keigo's mom is going to work overseas and it seems she really trusts Moi, of course any mom is going to love him, he's put together and has a very mature vibe to him. Keigo is now going to move into Moi's house, so now Nico has 3 hot young guys in her house. More protectors, yay!

I wonder whether Nemu will end up with Keigo or Kanshi as her familiar? Or can Nico have more than one??

Nice way to end the first arc. Looking forward to more fun.

Keigo has a bit more of my respect for doing everything for the sake of healing his mom's injury rather than for himself. Nico giving her the one time healing potion was such a wholesome moment to see. Can't believe as soon as she is healed the mom goes overseas leaving Keigo to live with everyone.

Great ending to the first arc man this shit touched my heart fr I love how everything ended perfectly idc if there wasn’t any stakes this show isn’t the one to have that kind of tone imo and Keigo’s conclusion was so heartfelt man shit made me feel teary when Nico healed his mom and she was able to walk again, it makes sense as to why Keigo did what he did, I’m pretty sure anybody would do that for their mom, anyway I’m glad bro joined the squad now we’re just waiting for one more person🥹

Uh oh guys I just seen the PV and Keigo (his wolf form) pushed Nemu onto the wall, we about to get the most anticipated ships for the show next week😭😭😭

Wow was not expecting the Keigo vs Moi fight scenes to be looking this smooth, but I guess this is a shounen manga after all. Glad we find out the reason for Keigo doing everything and that it was for the sake of his mom who he feels guilty about the accident that led to her being paralyzed. Nico saving Keigo's mother was heartwarming to see.

@wenzdae-kun We'll probably get some stuff with Makuwa-sensei and the two gal pals Nico makes, but the one I'm thinking of doesn't show up until chapter 135, so the stuff with the other ladies of note may have to suffice. It's kind of a situation like Ranma 1/2 or such, where there's a good chunk of stuff that might get cut, but that's only if we're lucky and the adaptation is that condensed

@pfpjenkins It's hard to say if she was paralyzed, but not being familiar with all the conditions anyway only has me thinking it could be like Joe Swanson in Family Guy, at least in later explanations, where his legs were just shot up with bullets. If Keigo's mom had severe injuries to her legs, it might necessitate using a wheelchair, even if she isn't paralyzed remotely, just the injuries damaged nerves, etc

@ultramb I forget if he really gets a powerup, though Keigo does develop some capacity to fight, especially when we return to the main plot and the threat to Nico. And he won't always have that armband, he'll need to be able to fight on his own without Wolf as a backup

I thought the witch would be harder to defeat than Keigo, but Nico and Kanshi made a great team! Nico's magic, which had always seemed so useless in previous episodes, finally shone through as the key to stopping her.

Moi and Keigo's fight was amazing. Keigo was very strong in his werewolf form, but Moi was not alone: thanks to the support of Nico and the others, he was victorious. I didn't expect the witch to actually die: it's the first death in the series, so it caught me off guard. However, the mark of Nico's future is still not gone, which means that the troubles might not be over yet.

But for now, they're all together, and that scene where Keigo gives his mother, the magic potion so she can walk again... absolutely beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes. There's no doubt about it - Moi, Nico, Kanshi and Keigo are true friends. And now that they'll all be living together, we know we're in for even more chaos and fun in the second year.

Great fight scenes from Keigo vs Moi, but I am glad they were able to make-up and resolve the issue. It's worrying to Moi that the person behind the scenes controlling the warlock was not revealed, but then we get Keigo's mother scene being healed by Nico's potion. What a great episode that ends with Keigo joining the house share.

CRYING. Witch Watch really hits me with all sorts of emotions, it's illegal to have another twist and for it to be so sad yet wholesome.
I knew it was weird for Keigo to want a cure for his legs when he is a werewolf, he only did it for his mother * cries *

And Nico just being the best girl she is, forgave the warlock (rip) and gave up her own cure all potion for Keigo's mom, she is so precious we must protect her at all cost.

Keigo's mom going overseas as soon as she was healed was just funny to me, is that just an excuse so Keigo can live with the group now? lol. No need to think too hard about it I guess.

Kan and Nico's teamwork was so good! I love how the somehow funny spells we've seen was used in a fight really well!

Nico's kind hearted nature allows her to forgive Keigo because she knows just how hard Keigo was trying for the sake of his mother. Still surprised she gave away her cord medicine she only has one of, but we get a nice scene of out it. Keigo has now officially joined the Nico protection party alongside Moi and Kanshi. So we have a witch, oni, tengu, and now wolf under the same roof.

@Baka_God Em uma boa estória, a morte deve ser um momento significante ou um ponto de virada. Ayako morreu embora.

In a good story, death must be a significant moment or a turning point. Akayo died in good time.

Witch Watch went full battle shonen this week with Morihito fighting Wolf/Keigo.

That enchanter had gotten quite the raw deal with how tiny it turned her, but it also made it quite tricky for Nico and Kanshi to find her when she was hidden in an afro.

The villain behind it all is still a mystery, but Keigo joining the Otogi household will make a great addition to their squad.
