This episode was way too predictable/obvious. Literally as soon as they Hirano Aya was sueing, it was obvious she had MSBP

So the mother wasn't stupid...just maliciously inclined.

This one is too easy for viewers, who thought mothers are suspects, for being overprotective. Except the evidence was very tricky, we didn't see it until the end of spoilers.

I did have a feeling there may be a drug interaction but none of the juices were labelled grapefruit so I didn't think the mother would put grapefruit juice in them and not even be smart enough to sweeten it more to counteract the bitterness. I did almost suspect the mother was doing something but I didnt put all the pieces together even though I am aware of Munchausen by proxy.

Also why the hate on grapefruit? it's delicious.

Keep in mind that she suffers from an untreatable mental illness. She's not evil per se, just deeply unwell.

It's literally just a kind of attention seeking and addiction to a certain kind of attention. It isn't untreatable and it isn't even an uncontrollable compulsion but something actually premeditated. I wouldn't call it evil but it doesn't remove all responsibility for actions.

Why wouldn't the hospital just deny the mother from giving her son juice, after it was identified as a risk factor and she had a history of poisoning him through supplements? It would have been quickly apparent that he'd start getting better.

She snuck it in and they dont monitor everyone non stop. People sneak in food someone isnt supposed to have into hospitals all the time.

I was under the impression that some people affected by Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy (does it work like a spectrum?) can't control themselves at all, and they're less deceptive and slightly more ''impulsive'' in their serial absuse.

But anyway, the kid's mother was certainly the crafty type with the wicked smile and whatnot so you guys are right in this case.

Considering it seems often linked with trauma it's unlikely strictly neurological a condition so it isn't uncontrollable in the literal sense just a reaction to difficult memories. Stronger experiences do influence behavior more but not to point of complete zero control like someone with cerebral palsy or something. Though I will admit I havent heavily read into this specific condition

Another solid episode, story wise. Animation-wise, definitely dropped. Takao should be chipping in for the bike reimbursement, that shouldn’t be all on Kotori. Even though, for whatever unknown reason, they nerfed him in that episode.

The mother was surely on something else, Takao persevered. Not sure why the other doctor didn’t state she didn’t misdiagnosed the kid to the mother. He just left Takao to take the hit.

I’m hoping for the production quality to rebound a bit and finish strong.

Of course I didn't think his mother was the culprit, because who in their right mind would do this to their own children?

Not to mention that the mother, Momoka Suzuhara is voiced by Aya Hirano who also voices Haruhi Suzumiya. It is a downright coincidence as both characters are suspected of having mental disorder, Suzuhara with Munchausen Syndrome and Suzumiya with Antisocial Personality Disorder which can make some fans find the latter grating.

This episode was just okay. It's too over the top and unbelievable the majority of the time. Being under investigation and still having the freedom to do anything in the hospital really through me off. I get it's an anime but do just a little bit of research on the subject. The "mystery" was really easy to figure out this episode. So, what now? Mom drops the lawsuit and the hospital doesn't alert the authorities? Dr. Ameku was mor concerned about her department than the kid who was being poisoned.

If they didn't make the mother the culprit because she is an evil psycho I thought it would've been okay but no I absolutely hate it (even if that whole thing is real)

Knew this woman was sus. Sensitive case with obsessive parenting but sadly this type of case exists irl too where parents do things they believ are good for their children but aren't. Hope the kid will be better off with the father.

i pretty much knew it was the mother's psychopathy causing his symptoms when I first saw how much Vitamin A she was giving her son. i'm glad this show is exploring psychological as well as medical diagnoses. definitely helps inform the audience of uncommon diseases.

As soon as they revealed that the mom was a nurse, and a single mother at that, I instantly knew she was to blame. I will not elaborate.

Takao's uncle director sounds like he should be a politician rather than a doctor saving lives. He pulls politically motivated maneuvers for his own benefit and to control his genius niece with the lawsuit as a flimsy justification.

Well I at least hadn't heard of Munch's Oddysee by Proxy or whatever.

Show's still dumb, though this episode was a little less dumb. I didn't really notice the art/animation issues people are mentioning.

The abolishment of Takao's department, and even a possible lawsuit facing against her from the mother of Suzuhara Soichiro, Momoka, of the misdiagnosis of her child, what a bad foresight. Still then, it's the chibi doctor's job to find out the exact cause of her son's predicament, which sounds all the more impossible when the possibilities are counted down to fruit juice, but it proves true when he is given the drink once again. The only problem: Takao can't even find the exact causal substance either from the university's tests.

Against the backdrop of her department being shut down and the lawsuit itself, Takao is faced with a predicament that she couldn't refuse, just as the meeting is held against her will from her uncle. And to prove everything by having all parties together to deduce how something simple as juice, though with a hidden flaw caused by the mother herself thinking she's doing good things for her son, but in fact, is harming him through her Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy disease...which is unintentional abuse.

A harder-than-usual case resolved, though seeing Kenta having leukemia, it's may be one of the cases where Takao have failed.

Who wrote this nonsense? The start of this season was so strong but it keeps getting weaker and weaker every episode. Last few episodes seems to be written by a kid who has a high admiration for doctors. I was so hyped for this show when I first read the synopsis but it honestly just seem like the second half is written totally by someone else. Even the unnecessary drama is getting annoying for me by now

Pretty cool episode. Its refreshing watching an anime about medicine being pretty accurate and not outlandish like Doctor Elise

New insight (Munchausen by Proxy). Never heard about this term, and that mother really crazy that wants to make herself a hero by sacrificing her child.

Common sense. The doctor always interferes where she shouldn't.
She's a genius but also immature. (And can't really gauge the situation...)
Anyway, escaping this problem at the meeting thanks to the diagnosis was a complete success.
I also have the feeling that several doctors wanted Takao out of the hospital as well.
Umh. I didn't like that mother at first but when it became clear that she was so repulsive in the end...
Dude, I found her disgusting! Lol
It's a good thing that such people can be kept away from innocent people in time.
Now, the really important thing here: Takanashi needs to buy another motorcycle soon.

It was probably easy to suspect the mother from the start but grapefruit + carbamazepine interaction I was not expecting at all. Also this was my first time hearing about Munchausen by proxy syndrome. Interesting.

By the way, wtf the art quality in this episode? It dropped considerably and it was super inconsistent. Specially notable in the last part. Hopefully it get back on track.

it was pretty clear what was going one the second they mentioned the mother name that "accidentaly" poisoned her son in episode 1 being the one suing the hospital.
And there was no doubt after learning she a nurse, wich made the mystery so good with normal food being the cause.

That thing about grapefruit is real when I was a kid I took lithium(an anti psychotic) and my doctors and nurses told me grapefruit couldn't mix with most medications
I'd rather die a free man then live under the rules of idiots
