somehow i think her remembering her tragic backstory will happen to save those weak adventurers in the next episode, but it's getting a bit too boring and predictable to continue further imo

@Damanks Ah, I see, but after reading it, it's noticeable that the manga, in detail is much better and tells the events, the sad memories, the scenes in the tower, and yes the duel scene too.

Why would the Silver Sword bend the knee to that slimy, backstabbing wanker Rufus, while benching Alina on top of that? I get that he was a mere plot device for Alina to save them, but it still made no sense. "You have no choice"? Wtf did that even mean?

Yes, all of this. Just why?

My interest really took a nosedive this episode. Between the transparently evil Rufus (who gets his comeuppance immediately after serving his plot purpose) and the edgelord "Dark God," they are seriously pulling out crappy tropes and presenting them in earnest, flying in the face of the overall parody presented by the series. Or, maybe, they're just operating on a level of irony I don't understand.

Looks like by episode 3 the author said everything there is to say about exciting receptionist job (there's overtime and nasty customers, that's it), and now we are back to overpowered adventurer story.
@casual42 Yup. Not much comedy to be found in the end, and without that all that's left is OP character does OP stuff. Which must be popular given how many recent anime are all about that, but I find it very dull. It at least needs to look cool if that's all you got.

As I predicted, she gets to keep her job as a receptionist but gets to do some adventuring. What surprised me is her backstory. She was eager as a child to become an adventurer, but Mr Shroud died and this traumatised her. He doesn't seem to be a relative, so I reckon he must be her first love.

Another idiot who got in trouble real quick, and since he took that necklace, Alina will realize that people are about to die and will go there to save them. The Guild Master had mentioned that she was more like an evil god, and then a crazy guy appeared with the same ability, calling himself an evil god...

Actually, I have to admit that I’m pretty happy with how they did this. Alina needs a lot of character development so that she doesn’t end up like the Bucchigiri MC whose motives are completely vapid compared to all the other characters. The blonde is supposed to be a troll character, and it seems like the author really hated him a lot and killed him off right after he served his story purpose. Still, this is pretty good. Now it’s up to her to come on his own accord

I guess my taste is the opposite of ppl here bc I was losing interest until the end of this episode. (Seems like ppl were interested and are now starting not to be.) I like the general concept of a character starting off with a totally vapid motivation (like avoiding overtime) before finding something more important, but that transition should happen quickly.

If not, you get the horror show that was Bucchigiri where I actively hoped the MC died each episode

The swapping of the op/ ed threw me off for a quick sec. That dude had what was coming for him.

Alina is just trying to do a simple 9-5, no OT, and that’s asking for too much.

Seems like I’ll stick around for this anime, especially with this latest episode being a bit serious.

I am glad they gave another reason for Alina's love for her job other than it's a stable job. because her reasons really not convincing

Sadly I have to agree. Anime has some of the most iconic female characters that can be strong and vulnerable and also flawed yet relatable. So far, Alina has yet to prove herself as such because she hasn't realized her potential and role.
"Manga readers are annoying, all they do is complain or spoil the anime we discuss in an anime forum.
They should really do their whining at manga forums.

I think people are kinda not paying attention.
Both Rufus and the previous bad guy was approached by that dude in black armor.
They're not moustache-twirling villains, clearly something's up with the black armor dude. We will see more later I think.
Ofc, some people want all the info delivered to them in the first 3 episodes, otherwise the story won't make sense to them.

I don't think her choosing a receptionist job was like a way to honor the wishes of the dead Shroud. She was all hyped up to grow up, become and adventurer and go on quests with Shroud. She was a kid after all. Then he died. I think after that she gave up on adventuring.
Remember, she became a receptionist before getting her skill and not "having OP skill but deciding to become a receptionist".
Could be that as she grew up, she looked for a job that was not adventuring and remembered what Shroud said, about a stable job.

The part about PTO. I get it.. I totally get it, Alina.

Seems she will get along with Lululee just fine.

@Neneaux Wait.. This was only episode 3, yet you're complaining that Alina didn't have a whole life changing arc already?
Also she doesn't treat everyone like shit. Just people who annoy her. She clearly gets along with Lululee and Laila.

@Neneaux She doesn't treat others like shit like if it was normal, only the people that disturbs her job and life.
Dealing with shit customers makes you mad, dealing with annoying people asking you to do stuff you don't want makes you mad, having to work overtime because of stuff that is not your fault at all makes you mad (she says sometimes she had to work the ENTIRE night), GETTING YOUR HOUSE DESTROYED BY SOME ASSHOLE MAKES YOU MAD, GETTING BLACKMAILED BY SOME GROUP OVER YOUR SECRETS MAKES YOU MAD, HAVING TO FORCE YOURSELF TO SATISFY OTHERS YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT MAKES YOU MAD.
You say that like if you never had a situation were you got mad at someone and wanted to treat him like shit.

And what's wrong with her wanting to have and enjoy her alone time?
Let's say you meet someone exactly like her, and she tells you she just wants to be alone and enjoy herself at home, what gives you the right to call her selfish for that? What gives you the right to put your opinion on her life and attitude simply because she wants to be alone? You are the selfish one in that case, for judging other's life style.

Also, you sound like someone that has never had a job lmao, maybe that's right? Or maybe I'm wrong? But in that case tell me, do you like having to work overtime? Do you like to get your day ruined by other people that have nothing to do with you? Do you like being forced to do stuff you don't want to, both in and out your job? Do you like making plans for your free time, and then have them ruined because most days your life sucks?

Every point I've made just confirms what I said, and why I like Alina's character so much: she is RELATABLE as fuck.

Also, when did I "excuse" her only for being cute? Did you even understand what I said? lmao, I said that thing about she being cute because nowadays female protagonists are just hot and nothing more, or look like guys because being femenine is seen as weak. Aline is cute, yet strong, she has both, and it works perfectly.

I wrote a lot, I don't do this often, but your comment really made me laught so I felt like I had to explain why you are extremely fkng wrong about Alina's character and motivations, if you don't understand it or just don't like this show then drop it, no one fkng cares.

So far that worked better as comedy with short tempered heroine.
The episode was ok, but not as good as in the beginning of the story.

I'm just curious if she will become full time adventurer like in the opening theme.

Well that duel was pretty short lol. Dia skill be like. Also the new backstory, seems the adventuring brought back traumatic childhood memories, seeing death like that is sure to mess you up. Definitely impressed with how they handled that.

Silver Sword not bringing Alina is pretty stupid, they know they're gonna go up against a dia skill, so why not bring someone with a dia skill to counter that. Well, she still has that amulet, so she'll know if they get low on health. I bet she's probably gonna go running out there instead of going to work.

Also, I'm kinda noticing how the dynamic between Alina and Jade has changed, now she's actually worried about him going on this secret quest.

Honestly can't wait for the next episode, that dark god guy is gonna be pretty tough to take down it seems.

Honestly, I don’t see a way for her to become a full-time adventurer. It would completely undermine the title and the whole gimmick of the show. She’ll likely keep working as a receptionist while doing some adventuring on the side. Maybe she’ll get called into critical situations now and then to save people in trouble.

But, like every other anime, the stakes will only get higher with more episodes. Eventually, she’ll have to keep fighting and rescuing people from increasingly stronger monsters. I’m not sure how they’ll manage to maintain the balance between her dual roles without things feeling repetitive or forced.

Interesting

So their skill isn't just a "Power reading of strength"

But rather the skills being on a higher level can literally overpower a lower bracket skill regardless of how powerful the lower bracket skill is.

The Guild Master's power to stop time (in most series, power over time is one of the strongest power ever). But Alina being of a higher bracket, she can break through it regardless if she knows how the other person's skill really works.

.

Also... WTF is this Silver-dude? is he like secretly a Noble or something? Alina: "Oh I am in silver sword's inn"... in a room that looks like it fits for a noble or king with a giant ass bed...

Speaking of team silver sword... that pink hair healer... is actually older than Alina? LOL, she looked like 15 or 16... but judging by Alina being a full-time office employee, she's probably 18+. This means the pink hair girl is 19+...

.

Kid-Alina is so cute too, and I guess this is one of the reason why she ended up as Receptionist instead of adventurer...

She got PTSD on adventuring. Even tho she's now going around doing secret adventuring... Irony?

.

Also... fuck this other blond hair dude... why didn't the Guild Master just silence this dude. Not like the blond dude knows the Executioner's real identity anyways... what's he going to do, tell everyone the Executioner is a "monster"? LOL... like all the newspaper that was previously shown that said the Executioner is like a monster... LOL (not to mention everyone knows the Executioner saved their town, so it doesn't even matter if he calls her a Monster, no one's gonna bother with it)

This part is seriously stupid. But hey, at least the blond dude is now ded, so I guess the "Dark God" should be praised for this.

They really let that blondie blackmail them into taking him? and with the guild master there? The guild master who went through all that trouble even promised Alina that he'd double the number of receptionist just to ensure Alina's help and he just backed down and kicked her off the party and let blondie join instead just so he won't talk? fucking hell does this many any sense to anyone?

Well I really enjoy the humor from this anime. I started watching the anime be cause a popular meme in the web xD
And I don't have any regrets about that XD
Well, the history is interesting for me at least, we have a cute and rough protagonist, the visuals are good and the animation sometimes as well.

I looking forward for the next episode

So after binging the first 3 episodes I can confidently say this shows great. For me personally it’s a solid 9

Alina is a big part of the high rating sure but I actually do really like the other characters and think the interactions are cool and the animation for the most part is very good

One of the better things airing this season

I like the overall story idea, but week by week, I am witnessing the writer make an awful mess of plot progression. I don't want to drop this, but if this turns into a run of the mill dungeon dive show with an OPAF MC, then what is the point of it?

I wouldn't listen to a damn thing Panda_roll says. I read his review on this show. He's an absolute anime noob who spent a half a page review complaining about how something did make any sense(to him anyways). Something that was very clearly explained more than once in the first few episodes. And anyone who thinks watches 3 episodes of a show entitles him to give a review is an absolute idiot/hater. I'm also convinced he watched it with his eyes closed and ear plugs in his ears because nothing in his review made a lick of sense. Screams 13 year old virgin raging at the world because no one likes him.

Of course Alina can break through the guildmasters realm outside of time. She's very experienced with overtime.

I want to see more of Jade's internal monologue. Rufus made quite the terrible argument for the silver sword to risk their lives again. I'll just chalk it up to a hero's code.

A soul eating dark god was not what I was expecting on the third episode. We've entered JRPG territory folks. This baddie is due for a bonk by Alicia's hammer.

How we beat a timelord with pure strength, I guess that's what the opening wants us to find out. But her breaking into frozen time is uh.. wow. Guess not even time stops the hammer.

Funny to have him briefly flustered over her overtime reduction. But hey, giving her more coworkers hits the nail on what she's always fighting for. Honestly, maybe the guild should have upgraded the front desk without the conditions XD but this show wouldn't exist without that.

rip for the sad backstory though.

And why the guild is allowing an adventurer who had to be rescued to peer-pressure the Sword into taking em back in, idk. Even if the guy wants to say whatever on the Executioner, the Guild should have more than enough power to shut one guy down.

Guess we don't have to worry about that guy anymore tho XD

OP and ED got switched this episode, and it's a nice change.

Guildmaster Glen Garia's request is simple: Alina to either join Silver Sword, or be totally left alone and her guild receptionist job be kept safe. If only Glen's Sigurth Chronos was able to actually stop time for Alina who broke out of the time stopping magic, it's clear that her skills are Dia skills, but the new dungeon Chalk Tower while being a secret quest now known, Alina would bawl at the requests from normal adventurers pushing her overtime. Instead, Glen offering twice as many receptionists for Iffole Counter, and the deal is easily struck to give Alina everything that she needs. Together with healer Lululee Ashford and rear guard Lowe Losblender, Silver Sword on the way to the Chalk Tower to face the barrage of boss monsters...or rather, see Alina one-shot them all, nothing is certain on the lower floors.

Aside from the Tower holding the legends of Dia and its ancestors, it's clear that there're people who tried to attempt the Tower, only to meet death, one of them survived of Rufus's party with only the leader himself surviving, and while this sounds like an easy trade to get Alina back to her job, it's clear that the monster using Dia skills only guarantees death, and Jade would do his best to avoid monsters like it. Sadly, that's part of her history facing adventurers making a promise to bring her to quests, only to come back dead. All Alina can only hope for is Jade and the Silver Sword coming back in one piece working alongside Rufus, and facing the dark god Silha who has Dia power, it's people like Rufus who only got instant karma by their souls being fed to the magic stone.

As Silver Sword themselves, can the trio stand against the resurrection of a dark god?

Damn, seeing a bit of Alina's backstory and why she suddenly got worried for Jade explains why she decided to go the receptionist route, both because it's safe and it's what the guy that promised to adventure with her recommended.

Regarding Rufus, that idiot purposefully had his party killed and was going to get Jade's party killed except the dark god got him first, what a backstabber. With Alina having the guiding crystal that warns if a party member's life is in danger I think she will get that warning and run to save them.

Joining Silver Sword for less workload—that’s a win for Alina, and she actually seemed to enjoy her time with the party too.

Right after that fluffy moment between Alina and Jade, they seriously had to drop her sad backstory, huh? But it does explain why she pursued her current career path.

Looks like that skeleton lurking in the alley is turning people evil, and Rufus wasn’t an exception. But now that Silver Sword is in mortal danger, I’m hoping Alina will show up thanks to that relic and save their butts—and her future lover Jade. Pretty sure he’d be thrilled to see her actually worrying for him.
