My 1/10s that I actually [regretfully] completed are yosuga no sora, pupa, and mushoku tensei. I hate all the mcs and it felt like a waste of my brain space, but I completed them just to know what they're all about when they pop up in conversation. I have more 1/10s, but for obvious reasons, I dropped them. |

One Piece. doesn't really like the art, especially the old ones way too cartoonish and have that vague grey type of thing that is not enjoyable to watch for a long time. The character art is way too unrealistic and seemed to be Abstract at some point and it makes me hurt my head to think about that. I mean I like HxH that have many fantasies but for One Piece is too much weirdness, especially about the sizing difference of the character that too much. The lore also story are unnecessarily huge so that even after too many episodes they don't have a certain point or any purpose, i just include them like Doraemon's/Detective Conan type of Anime/Action with Slice of Life on Sea Pirates Universe, it feels forced to be milked by his creator/publisher. It is good for the fanatic but for the casual who likes the whole story that great at pacing and certainty about the story is just another pain in the ass. It doesn't suit me who loves realistic things in anime so I couldn't relate to the Anime. Overall i give One Piece 4/10 just because i only love certain part of story not the whole anime. |

Bleach is a 4/10, it is everything I did not like about Saint Seiya and Dragon Ball Z with nothing that I liked about it. It is also a shot for shot copy of Saint Seiya at certain points in the manga which was the point of some (mild) controversy in Japan. Naruto was a 5/10, since the anime overstays its welcome, I need not a notebook in order to keep up with the story. Shippuden gets a 4/10 for the same reason, only, it is even worse in doing this. I understand that Naruto is a long manga, but 700+ episodes for a complete manga adaptation is, in my opinion, excessive. One Piece gets a 5/10. If it was just the 4K!DS dub that I watched it would have been a 7/10. The story is a mess at this point and I could hardly follow what was happening. Cyberpunk Edgerunners was hard to understand for me and it felt too rushed. 4/10 Death Note is a 3/10. It is the Twilight of anime, we are told the characters are smart but we are not shown that either, which makes the entire story unbelievable to me. Mouse is a 1/10. This should speak for itself, but this eludes too many people. Same for Green Green and Hand Maid May. K-On is a 2/10. I am forcing myself to watch it. Comedy is an art, but what makes people laugh is subjective, since this is a musical-comedy moe, it falls short, since it has very little music and no "written" jokes per se. The humor is visual, physical, but not slapstick. Ninjala is a 2/10, I have no clue why I am watching it, but it is a slog, at least for someone whose video game experience is best measured in pocket change spent (which if I had to guess is under $5.00). Yumeria is a 3/10, but will end up being a 1/10, self explanatory, really. Super Dragon Ball Heroes is a 3/10, the managed to make a series worse than GT. The staff deserve a reward for that. Carnival Phantasm is a 4/10. I will rewatch this, as I think I will get more of an appreciation by watching the other Fate series. Re:Zero is a 4/10. The series is an interesting concept, but it comes across as bland. This is probably because it is a toned down version of the Light Novels/Manga series. Gunbuster is a 4/10. All style, little substance, it was disappointing, but I see the appeal of the series. Good start, good end, it would have benefitted if it was a film of just that, like Akira. Rosario+Vampire is a 3/10. I try to block out the fact that I saw this anime. I was kind of young to watch it too, when I did (I was in elementary school at the time). It is a series that might scratch a certain itch for some people, but it is not a series that one would watch for the plot or the characters, specifically (other than the characters in the physical sense). Zen is a 2/10. My review explains this best. Cheap cash-grab is cheap cash-grab, nothing else. Tales from Earthsea is a 3/10. Read the book and you will understand. The exact same goes for Howl's Moving Castle, awarded 4/10, Black Butler is a 4/10, though I feel that the community might have swayed me on this one, but the story is mediocre and the characters are drab, just a boring watch for me. Tekken is a 4/10, it is just a worse Shadow Skill. Chainsaw Man is a 3/10, I prefer the anime to the manga which I found to be a confusing mess, but it is whitewashed as a series. Darling in the Franxx is a 2/10 for being the worst combination of Evangelion/RahXephon and Aquarion. Negima is a 4/10, this is the marmite of anime, you either love it or hate it. I, however, just found that it was mediocre overall as a comedy and while it was popular when it came out, just has nothing to make it stand out as a series. Future Diary is a 4/10. Ask anyone who dislikes the series, the can tell you better than me as to why. There are hundreds of reviews saying my exact thoughts on this series too. Lucky Star is a 2/10, it is like K-On but without any attempt at a story. Sure, shows about nothing can be entertaining, but there has to be something driving it forward, see Seinfeld as a an example of this done well. Lucky Star is the Bizarro Seinfeld (see what I did there). Panty & Stocking is a 2/10, it is meant to resemble those Comedy Central cartoons in the mid 2000s that would often make me chuckle every once in a while. The point of the series was to emulate Drawn Together in a number of ways (in fact, Drawn Together was the whole inspiration for the series), so it does this well, but it still makes the series a bit of a try-hard when it comes to its humor. There is a reason why The Simpsons and Family Guy are still on the air (which, in America are TV-PG and TV-14 series) and why nobody cares or talks about Brickleberry or even Drawn Together for that matter. Rent-a-Girlfriend, Nagatoro and Uzaki all get a 2/10, series that are supposed to make me care about the characters somehow make me want a 4K!DS One Piece ending which is where the crew get crushed by a falling boat. Where is the falling boat when you need it? Haruhi Suzumiya is a 4/10, same reason as K-On and Lucky Star, but better quality/more effort put into the series as a whole. I keep stalling on it, though, for that reason. Dragon Maid is a 3/10, a Bizarro Seinfeld with DRAGONNNNZZZZ 'N STUFF lulz. (I will never repeat this ever again). Seriously, I found no reason to enjoy the series and the same goes with the manga, it quickly became a chore to follow. Reincarnated as a Sword is a 3/10, it was mediocre and forgettable. In fact, I have entirely forgotten what has happened in this series (so far). (Which I am actually at episode 4 on, I just have not updated my list). Food Wars is a 4/10, the concept is weird, but it is humorous, I might reevaluate this one as I feel that it needs a second chance. Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen are 5/10s, but for the opposite reasons, Demon Slayer nails the art and animation (though the fight choreography makes the battles hard to follow), but the story and characters range from alright to entirely unnecessary and even detrimental to the story. Jujutsu Kaisen is just generally plain and somewhat forgettable, in my opinion, but it is consistent and the fight choreography is just fine. Blue Lock is a 5/10, it did not do too much for me, no reason to be invested in the series after three episodes and I generally tend to rate sports anime decently high for me (usually a 7/10 versus 5.5/10 on average). Boruto is a 5, but should be a 4/10. It is Boruto, those who have seen it, know its problems. Nadia, the Secret of the Blue Water is a 6/10, so it is good, but ultimately nothing remarkable. This will upset a great deal of people, I know. Neither Anno nor Miyazaki or even Dezaki are Gods of the medium, sometimes they slip up, sometimes their work, while decent is unremarkable. For every Supra there are many Corollas, for every GT40 there are many, many Focuses, I think this is the best analogy. I know many people will disagree with me, which you have every right to, but just know that I am entitled to my own reasons as to why I think a series got the score that I think it deserves, if you wish for more. I will reply with it. I have been away for a while, but I am always open for communication. |

I gave Lovely Complex a 4/10 and I'd consider myself to be generally quite generous when ranking anime. I thought Risa was entirely unreasonable throughout the entirety of the show, and not in a "oh well she's annoying but it's in a realistic way", no. She's obnoxious for basically no reason except for creating misunderstanings - which yes - I know are necessary sometimes, especially in romance anime for plot progression, but this was just heinous. |

I scored Persona 5 the Animation a 4/10. P5A aired throughout 2018 and is based on the original release of Persona 5 that launched on PS3 and PS4 back in 2016 for Japanese players, and 2017 outside of Japan. The more popular Persona 5 Royal version of the game did not release until 2019 in Japan, so there is already some content that may feel missing for fans watching this show today since none of the new characters or story events from Royal happen in P5A. I watched P5A as it released back in 2018 so this was no problem for me since Royal wasn't even announced until early 2019, but it may impact the perception of the other issues on the show for people watching today. One of the biggest problems with P5A is the pacing of the show. Without the TV Specials and OVAs, P5A tries to condense the story of vanilla P5 into a 26 episode show which was just an impossible task from the get go. P5 was the longest game in the Persona franchise when it released, and is about 113-115 hours for the average playthrough, or 97-100 hours if you solely focused on the story and skipped all the side content and social links. A 9 and a half hour total runtime for a TV anime was just not enough to finish the entire game at a reasonable pace so there were a lot of sacrifices made at the detriment of to the story and identity of P5. The original 26 episode run is not a complete adaptation of the game, ending after the traitor reveals themselves and leaves the show off on a cliffhanger. This means the entire final palace of vanilla P5, as well as the final boss fight were never covered in the original TV run of this adaptation. Even in the content the TV run does adapt, it speeds through the content so fast out of necessity, than the emotional moments don't really have room to breathe, and every character's arc feels incredibly rushed. This pacing is made worse by the decision to put in some of the Confidant events from the game sprinkled throughout the runtime. While the Confidants are really important in the gameplay loop of P5, and their side stories are core to the identity of the game, there just was not enough time to do both them and the main story, so by trying to do both, the Confidant stories are stripped of a lot of what made them engaging in the game while also taking away from the very limited time that was desperately needed to tell the main story. The two 50 minute TV Specials do help finish out the last 2 arcs of the story but still suffer from those same pacing problems, and the OVA Specials are just unaired episodes from the TV run that aren't really plot relevant and could have been better used to give at least a little bit of extra time to the main story. When you watch this show, you aren't watching Persona 5, you're essentially watching a speedrun of the game as it literally takes almost the same amount of time to watch as an Any% New Game+ speedrun of P5, but a real speedrun would probably be MUCH more entertaining to watch than this watered down version of the plot. The other biggest problem with this show is the quality of the art and animation. Both the P5 and P5R video games have some 2D-Animated cutscenes done by Production I.G. that play throughout certain key important story scenes, and they are really high quality, have great compositing and effects work, implement 3D elements naturally, look very smooth in motion, and tend to stay on model unless for comedic effect. The reason I bring this up is because P5A was animated by a different studio. A-1 Pictures, who had previously animated the cutscenes in the Persona 4 video game took up the job of animating the P5 adaptation and their work was thoroughly lacking. A-1 have previously proven that they could have done P5 justice, as they did animate a 24 promotional anime episode called Persona 5 the Animation: The Day Breakers back in 2016 to promote the Japanese release of the video game. This OVA had really solid animation and adapted the Mementos Quest "Phantom Thieves vs Burglary Ring" from the video game, and expanding upon it. However, by the time that A-1 animated the full adaptation of the game, a lot of corners were cut. Characters were constantly drawn off model, leading to many shots where characters look like their facial features and bone structure are melting, the 3DCG implementation was extremely poor quality, the compositing effects weren't as good as the game's 2D cutscenes, there were many scenes that looked rather choppy, and they somehow even messed up small details like the cut-ins for All Out Attacks. The TV Specials that finished the story were a bit better, but not by all that much. As much as the story was rushed, the fact that they messed up the animation too makes the show have even less merit to watch compared to playing the game. The only real redeeming factors are the dub and the new music. The dubs for Persona 3,4, and 5 are all pretty beloved amongst fans of the series and the actors from the game's English dub reprised their role in the P5A dub. I will not however defend the release model for the dub. The dub took 2 years to come out after the original Japanese version started airing, and was not available for legal streaming upon release. The only way to watch the dub originally was to buy the over $300 box set by Aniplex which is just an absurd price for a pretty shit adaptation of a popular video game. The dub is now legally available on Crunchyroll for Premium subscribers, but that initial price gouging just to watch the show dubbed was insane. The dub's quality however, is on par with the game's dub and the cast clearly had fun with it. The dub is a bit more comedic in tone with the game, exaggerating the most absurd moments from the game to greater heights. Xander Mobus has a lot of fun in the show, getting to read some of the funny dialogue options the player can choose in the game with the funniest possible delivery every single time. If you don't watch the show, I would heavily recommend watching the dub funny moments compilations. The other good thing as I mentioned is the new music, as they got Lyn Inaizumi, the vocalist for all the songs in P5 and all the P5 spinoffs to sing 4 new songs and they are all just as good as the songs from the original game. "INFINITY" and "DARK SUN" are the two that I think are the best and I would highly recommend streaming them over on Spotify or YouTube Music. |

@SuperAdventure I gave it a 10 and I might watch it again. It was really good.
@kutuya There's the key word- *might* I'm not going to argue about whether it's good or not because I've noticed, anyone can just say it's great & claim they watched all without any proof anyway, so more ranting isn't going to accomplish anything. What I'd love to do is an experiment- gather a few people IRL in a nice venue, comfy sofas and I'd even provide plenty of pizza; with one catch: You have to watch the first 10 episodes of Frieren in a row without leaving the sofa and without looking at a computer or phone. EYEBALLS ON SCREEN. Like all challenges there'd be an escape: you admit it's shit and agree to change your MAL score to 5 or lower = you get to leave. I'd wager the room would be empty by episode 5 (or when the pizza runs out- whichever comes first). And if not, I don't think I could hold back the laughter of watching the strain in millennials' eyes as they go insane with boredom! I'm also pretty confident everyone who volunteered would be seeing it for the first time. |

The harshest thing I do is drop something and not rate it. If I rate something low, it's only because the shittyness of it outweighed it's entertainment value for me. The very fact I completed it to begin with means I didn't really hate it. Especially in my earlier days when I didn't drop many things. If you couldn't hold my attention when I was just watching any random thing that caught my eye, that's a sign you failed the one thing I needed. Entertainment. |

@SuperAdventure Well I rewatch stuff at a significantly lower rate than the average anime viewer (I think, anyway) and it's relatively recently watched it so it'll probably be a while until I rewatch it even if we suppose my rewatching it is guaranteed. Also watching 10 episodes in one sitting is quite a lot (I'm assuming bathroom breaks are given), I wouldn't do that outside of exceptional circumstances. |

Mirai Nikki (4/10) because everyone in that show is an idiot Howl's Moving Castle (5/10) because while the art and animation were great, its plot felt like it was missing a lot SAO Alternative: Gun Gale Online (2/10) I watched this as it was airing long ago can't exactly remember why I hate it so much (It was probably because it was boring) |

Code Geass R2 (4/10). Enjoyed season 1, but season 2 was a mess and all over the place. The pacing was off, and the fan service actually detracted from what should have been a constant serious tone. The 'plot twists' were more annoying than riveting and I never understood why the ending is rated so high. Yes, it wrapped things up nicely, but I thought it obvious what Lelouch's plan was going to be if the show wanted any semblance of a "good" end. Also. with regards to pacing, the ending is less of an ending than an epilogue, since it takes place after a short time skip, so it felt, personally, like it was just tacked on at the end. I guess I was just disappointed, and then mad since it made me see the faults in season 1 more clearly, diminishing my enjoyment of season 1 as well. |

@kutuya Bathroom breaks would be given- but the whole point wouldn't be to see if someone could watch 10 episodes without even moving. It's to see how quickly people become bored of something they lied about paying much attention to; and would be forced to admit- through their own behavior- that it's an unbelievably boring and dull anime. I also choose the first ten because up through episode 9 at least, it's at its worst. Absolutely NOTHING happens apart from them meeting Stark and an insanely lame dragon fight that lasts a couple minutes. I'm confident that a few episodes of its pithy dialogue and painful, plodding drudgery would drive people crazy and would love to watch it happen ^_^ |

Medarot damashii: 3/10. Imagine medabots except without anything that was actually cool or made sense Classroom of the elite: 4/10. In a word? Pretentious. Or boring. Either fit. I seriously have no idea how this show got enough fans for a second seasons. Aho girl: 4/10. Lolrandom humour of the 2000s. Handa-kun: Literally the same joke repeated for an entire season. Akkun to kanojo: The protagonist is the most irritating, unlikable character ever. This is what happens when you take an archetype and turbo-charge it. Or at least one of the failures of such a pursuit. Single handedly ruins the show. |

Scored 2 for third season of Yuru Camp 'cause I can't even watch it. Never forgave damned 8bit or whoever responsible for visual side decisions.
@xX_necroSNAKE_Xx I thought they stayed pretty true to the original works, and looks good. It honestly looks more like the manga now. I'm biased though, as I care least about visuals in a show, I can see though how some who prioritizes it would hold disdain for a change. |

Medarot damashii: 3/10. Imagine medabots except without anything that was actually cool or made sense
Classroom of the elite: 4/10.

That is Hiroyuki in a nutshell. I did enjoy the manga for Doujin Work, however, though that one is a bit less random. P.S: The rest of the thread is turning into a cesspit, I feel a "thread locked" is coming... |

Dandadan. I gave it a 1/10. Mind you it's only about the first episode. Here is my opinion.
It's the pilot that I've enjoyed the least in my life.
Awful characters - I didn't find the constant shouting comedic at all, if anything, it was absolutely annoying and obnoxious ; lacking depth ; boring. Usually, in a first episode, you would expect some world building and some character building ; you would expect some connection to the MC at the end of the pilot, to make you want to watch more. It did have some world building but I had 0 empathy for the MC. They could have died in that episode, I wouldn't have felt a thing. Awful.
The animation was not super good, especially in the first ten minutes. I didn't like how they animated their faces and bodies. The animation apparently gets better later on.
I didn't like the character design and art style in general. Very cartoonish and that's not a compliment.
The jokes were so bad that they made me cringe the entire episode. I don't mind some pervy/sexual jokes when they are actually good ; not disturbing and inappropriate and cringy. And it seems like this is something reccurent in this show as the story is filled with this sense of humor. Not my cup of tea at all. The worst was seeing people reuse these jokes about SA.
I liked 2 things, though : the backgrounds that were sometimes very beautiful and the opening that is very catchy, in a good way. But you don't make a show with a good opening and good backgrounds only. It's not a PowerPoint presentation.
It reminded me that popularity does not equal quality (and has NEVER).
Sitting through that first episode was like torture.
I immediately dropped the show after the first episode, which is also a first. I usually watch a few episodes before dropping a show but I didn't like this one so badly that it did not make me want to continue any further. There's just no point in wasting my time or watching the next episodes if I hated that first episode that much.
Also, the amount of hate and insensitive responses/comments I've gotten for speaking my mind and giving my opinion about this show was another reason for me not to continue watching it. I mean, I can totally understand that reading someone's post saying that they didn't like your favorite show does not feel good, but some people in this fandom are plain rude, violent and childish (and for no reason). And before someone tells me that this is the case for every fandom, I beg to differ.
Fortunately, I've had really great conversations with some Dandadan fans who were mature enough to be polite and remain civil even when discussing our diverging opinions. So, it's not all bad.

Nessa1_995 said: Sounds like a typical situation with fandom of a very popular series. Said series becomes popular, so it attracts a lot of people, among which there might be, and usually are, a lot of weirdos with emotional problems who react with hostility towards anyone who doesn't glaze said series; and with pure hatred towards anyone who has more complex opinion than mere "I love/hate it". It doesn't even have to be a relatively new franchise. Try expressing your opinion in a polite way to, say, random Re:Zero or One Piece fans, and it will be a miracle if you won't encounter any irrationally angry folks acting in an immature way, lol. Also, the amount of hate and insensitive responses/comments I've gotten for speaking my mind and giving my opinion about this show was another reason for me not to continue watching it. I recommend to either ignore that kind of people or smirk when you see then reacting like that. After all, intentional or unintentional clown behavior can be amusing at times. ;) Nessa1_995 said: I plan to give Dandadan a try, but ye, I feel you. I scored Koe no Katachi 3/10 because of the reasons I mentioned in my review on MAL. You can read it if you want. I won't be elaborating here with repeating the same stuff I had written once in the past. But long story short, I found it extremely naive and even harmful as a movie using serious topics, such as disabilities and bullying, as fancy storytelling tools. Even if one ignored that fact, then dull characters, or emotional spoon-feeding (we're talking about a show created by KyoAni, after all), were still there, so it's not like it failed only in just one aspect. My friend who is suffering from a similar health problems to Shouko hated that movie even more. She prefers to refer to it as "torture porn for normies", so well, my point of view, albeit harsh, is still rather timid, heh. |

Great Teacher Onizuka, cant be bothered checking but probably a 4/10 or something like that. I cant believe people say its a masterpiece with the amount of shitty characters it has, seriously all the female students are garbage and the plot is dumb. Also people use the word emo for anyone, how is Ryuuko emo OP, just because shes got black hair? Her personality isnt emo at all, in fact Satsuki fits that more. |

My two lowest-rated anime are Terra Formars and Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne both sitting at a dismal 2/10 (I have no 1/10s and doubt I ever will). But looking back on it, those were both series I watched in 2020 and very early 2021 before I started really watching any amount of seasonals, let alone regularly. Since then, for much of 2021, 2022, 2023, and the current year of 2024, seasonals have come to increasingly occupy a majority of what I watch compared to older already concluded series. And due to that, I've recently thought about those ratings and decided that perhaps I should revisit and re-evaluate them, because while their major sins won't be erased or negated, I've also come to realize that they are probably at least as good or better than a quarter to half of the seasonals I watch yet rate higher than them. So they probably have an "unfair" rating by comparison. |

Zeta Gundam:
That might sound silly, but believe that 50 episodes of grueling, pointless, repetitive and uninteresting fights without a proper story and with badly written characters where nothing else happens is an exercise in torture. At some point there are 4-5 episodes in a row where the whole episode is just our protagonist getting beaten, finally lading a hit and then the villain fleeing.
It's like playing a T-RGP while you skip every dialogue and cutscene.
It got so bad that my brain turned itself off and I was unable to make reviews for almost any anime until I realized I actually hated it.
Re:Creators:
Fate/Zero:
- Interesting parts of the plot happen off-screen
- Extremely repetitive
- Characters fight without any deeper motivations
- One-note, Mustache-twirling villlains. (Characters don't even have reasons to believe they're "in the right", they're just plain NPCs)
- Villains don't have any real personal motivations, they fight "just because"
- The way female characters in specific are written makes you question if Tomino is a misogynist trying to radicalize people into inceldom

Re:Creators:
- Protagonist serves no function other than slow the story down.
- Anime is about "what if fictional characters came to our world with their personalities", but after their first appearance, all the characters stop having the personality of someone who came from a fictional media and just become generic ones instead.
- The initial McGuffin is that there will be a massive event in the future... that event only happens at the end of the anime. Think of the "I'll wait" scene from "Avengers: Endgame", but it's actually an entire anime instead.
- Lots of "time-wasting" things happen because of that: e.g. A character gets his power stolen, but after that there's never an opportunity where he would need his power, and when the opportunity finally arises... he gets his power back.
- Similar to my complain on Fate/Zero, where the whole character of Gilles is "Creating a problem in order to sell the solution" in a way that you could just remove him entirely with little impact to the story and save 1/3 of the runtime: In Re:Creators that character is Magane (And mind you, she doesn't even get a conclusion).
- Entire episodes where it's just other characters giving our protagonist validation.
- The part of it that wants to be Fate/Zero and the part of it that wants to be ShiroBako are frequently at odds and cannibalizing each other
Fate/Zero:
- Gilles is a time-wasting character and could be completely removed for reasons previously stated.
- Half the cast has extremely uninteresting personality/motivations (And some have none at all), which is very bad for a battle-royale anime
- Since we still have to waste time on that half, the other half that HAS interesting personality/motivations suffers for it
- I kid you not when i tell you that in one original episode (The Tohsaka Rin one) they managed to do what they couldn't for most characters: Introduce a character, give you reasons to want them to win, develop the character and make something interesting with it.
- The dialogues are bad. I don't mind dialogue-heavy anime, but dialogues in F/Z are mostly vacuous, verbose and state the same things 2-3x.

@rodmanii You have Zeta on your list, how come you not notice how mentally retarded every female character in that seems to be? Go back to Reddit with your grifter brainrot lingo, this is something I've never complained about any other anime, ever, but Zeta is just that terrible. Even worse, you have Jerid in your favorites, how the hell do you like Jerid? He's a character with zero motivations, even at some point he explicitly states that the reason he's fighting Kamile has nothing to do with him having killed his friend (But no alternative reasons are given). |

I gave Seikon No Qwasar a 3/10, which is probably too generous. I recall the first episode being decent, with an interesting and dark premise but it didn't take long for the series to devolve into gratuitous fanservice with the characters becoming bland and one dimensional and I really disliked the main character boy whos name I forget. |

I'll obviously not remember the exact episode number, but it is in a talk between him and that green-haired girl.

Yes, and that makes Jerid no better than any unnamed Titan extras, because he has no personal motivations.

There are a fuckton of episodes that consist of Kamille taking a beating until he finally lands a hit and whoever he's fighting against flees, what are you even talking about?

I feel like we use different definitions of "character development".
For me, character development isn't about a character getting "more skilled" or "more powerful", but having a change in mentality/personality.
Jerid, from episode one to the final episodes, is just someone that get's mad when he sees Zeta's presence... that's it, there's not much depth to his character.
@thewiru " entire community doesn't collectively HATES dumb characters, you KNOW that." yourself != "entire comunity" "A HYPERBOLE, A JOKE, by EXAGGERATION." sure thing brandon ", but it is in a talk between him and that green-haired girl." ah sure, it happened, you just dont remember "Yes, and that makes Jerid no better than any unnamed Titan extras, because he has no personal motivations." how curious, what would be a "personal motivation"?, name me the "personal motivation" of whom you actually think is a good character in zeta "I mean, yes, that's how Newtypes work", sure, i by newtypes you mean shitty writing, the best gundam ever remains gundam 79, from that point onwards the newtype bullshit became a deus ex machina for the writers to justify any ass pull, in 79 it was just a slight anticipation of the events, and that was that, not space magic that does whatever the plot requires. "of Kamille taking a beating until he finally lands a hit and whoever he's fighting against flees" sure thing, name a few " but having a change in mentality/personality", why? so for jerid to get what you consider character what would have been necesary to happen? for him to change sides?. " is just someone that get's mad when he sees Zeta's presence." and kamille is just some retard that joined a terrorist organization because of a blondie told him he has a girl's name, if you frame it in a particular way any character can be portrayed as basic. Jerid development comes from recognizing his lack of skills, his efforts to improve, the lost of the people dear to him and his commitment to the titans, i always found so idiotic how the titans are portrait as baddies when wiping out the titans results in the axis becoming a prominent threat in gundam zz. |

Mobile Suit Gundam Stardust Memory - Nina Purpleton and Zeon wanking. There are a few other Gundam entries I really don't like, in my time watching the numerous entires out there, however, Stardust so far is the worst (I have yet to get to Seed Destiny). Dallos - Ends on a cliffhanger and it's never going to be continued. Its narrative and characters weren't really good enough for it to not leave a negative impression. Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence - Really the only Ghost in the Shell work I have disliked. GiTS has a nice balance of some typical cyberpunk philosophical themes, with action and character moments. Innocence goes way harder on those themes, and not in a really intelligent way. Some of the dialogue just sounds really unnatural. Akira and FLCL - Can be summed up as I hate all the characters. At least with Akira, I may try the manga, since I think a lot of my issues were partially influenced by its pacing. Zero no Tsukaima - Louise, nuff said. |

Code Geass. I really detest the nationalism and utilitarianism. It's also full of other unpleasant elements: ridiculous story, ridiculous characters, edgy protagonist, cheap plot twists, etc. But I direct my dissatisfaction to the second season especially; the first one even seems like a good anime if I compare it to its successor |

No. The problem is people who betray their friends and people who harm innocents.
Sasuke = P.O.S. who betrays friends.
Gaara = P.O.S. who harms innocents.
I love emo as long as they aren't POSes. Ryuuko is literally emo and I'm using her for my avatar and signature.
@IpreferEcchi IpreferEcchi said: Sasuke = P.O.S. who betrays friends. He didn't care about anyone from the very beginning. He just wanted revenge on his brother. I said in another thread that its laughable to be offended by a cartoon but Shield Hero sort of offended me. But maybe not in the way you think. It's not so much the fact that the show mistreats its female characters, it's the fact that the author thinks this sort of thing would be gratifying to me. As if I am so lowly and pathetic that I feel the need to take revenge against unbelievably malicious "bitches" or amass a harem of subservient lolis. I dunno who the author is but I have only one thing to say to him. Fuck you too! the entire show has a real Elliot Rodger school shooter vibe and I hate it. Anyone who rates it highly should be put on a watchlist. |
