@Blackfire2340 WiT don't do weekly releases. If it's seasonal and they condense it down into 300-400 episodes, that'll take 20 years to finish with a decent schedule. |

Remake? Why though? Maybe for the new fans who complain about pacing I think and also in general. Anyways will check it out. |

Do you not know of attack on titan? vinland saga? spy x family?
Wit is probably the most well known studio in the modern anime age only second to mappa.

@FanofAction Lol have you seen Hollywood and how many remakes there have been topping the box office? That is EXACTLY why you would want to remake a series as big as One Piece. Also considering East Blue is 30+ years old now and the huge pacing issues of later arcs, a modern remake for the show would be ideal if you have the power to do it. |

I will never understand why people want remakes of these long running Shonen series. Is it just because of the animation? Not to remove filler arcs and compress the story into a more tolerable length?
@Technopunk The main issue that faced by people who want to get into OP is its pacing and aged animation hence a remake by wit studio.Hopefully they'll compress 1000+ Episodes to 500-600 without skipping anything and with great animation |

@Blackfire2340 Why are so many people missing my point entirely? I know One Piece has been around for a while. I know it's a big popular franchise. I know remakes rake in money. My point is the other anime is STILL ongoing. Not only that, but they have the live action series. There's no reason to have that many adaptations of the same thing going at once. Also, remakes typically come out AFTER the original has been completed for some time. Literally no other long running series has done this. It would have made more sense to remake the older Bleach, because at least that hadn't been aired since 2012. How is what I'm saying that hard to understand? Also this is Netflix...Their track record isn't exactly stellar with keeping shows around. |

@FanofAction It's being made by Wit, it's 100% because of people wanting "better animation". I mean, it has to be, there's not other logical explanation.
@Tropisch Well i have my theory: The remake is made first to Netflix, and i want to believe that this is going to be seasonal instead of continuos. Once the Toei's version reach the manga, this going to need forcefully going to hiatus (unless Toei put a lor of filler in the middle of Egghead). When this happens, the remake will replace the OG on Fuji TV. I think they took this decision to always have One Piece on TV. They can intersperse the original and the remake on Fuji TV, thus giving the manga time to get ahead of the Toei version. |

nice, I hope this means they are going with uffy's past first and not showing shanks later like toei did , there's probably a lot of rearranging like that from toei like dialogs and pointless extra scenes, not just the animation quality is gonna be better I think ๐ค ps: i almost forgot to mention the awful opening is not gonna be there like for ag~ages now... we're getting fresh songs more often, Yeah, it was very old school to leave the opening and ending for a long time ๐คฃ one piece definitely needs a wash face. but I feel the source material could be the live action for this one ๐ฃ like they did with Rurouni Kenshin and... it didn't work? |

@FanofAction Netflix keeps any show that brings in subscriptions/views, that is why Stranger Things has been running for so long. If the Live Action was able to grab attention, than the anime certainly will, especially if it has exclusive streaming rights. I also imagine some of the voice actors would return in the WIT version, similar to how Dragonball Kai was handled. You're better off doing that now than waiting since most or so old. Luffy's VA alone is planning to be replaced rather soon. One Piece is also almost 20 years older than Bleach, so that just proves to you how old the animation for it is in the older arcs. Also a big difference is that older long running anime like Bleach or even Naruto is far more well-received than One Piece, you just skip the filler. One Piece is a series where most people tell you "It gets better in 300 episodes!" or "Just read the manga". |

@Blackfire2340 We'll just have to see. I'll admit despite everything I said, as someone who dropped One Piece a while back, I might actually give this version a shot. I don't have issues with the idea of a remake, I just think it's weird having two anime versions and the live action going at the same time. |

It's so fucking weird calling it a remake when the series hasn't and won't be ending anytime soon. It's funny when you think about it right. At this point the people who have been following One Piece since day 1 won't see the ending to the story and are now presented with a news saying it will instead get a remake. lol. |

@FanofAction lol, pretty much every one piece fan wants atleast the remake of the first few arcs, why would it flop when so many people want it because the original has pretty big problems that can be fixed? Everyone wants better animation and better pacing. Of course a movie which is the exact same remake of the original will fail, but this ain't it, its not gonna be the exact same because it has the potential to fix the biggest problem of the fans. |

@Blueberry173 I'm just gunna say it.....I find it funny that so many people shit on Netflix anime and then the very moment they pick up something like One Piece people expect it to be amazing. Also, my bit about the movies was again about how ridiculous it is to have multiple versions of the same thing going at once. Which is a thing I apparently have to keep spelling out. |

@FanofAction weird generalization, my experience with netflix anime has generally been good (given that I haven't watched too from there though), and i didn't say it will 100% be better either, it just feels like you don't like the idea of having remakes so you are trying to find faults, i mean, the fans are happy, the company will be happy if it succeeds, there shouldn't really be a problem. Whatever though. |

@Blackfire2340 Soooo True .
A Normal Adaptation Pace is 2 to 3 Chapters Per Episode.
But toei wants to milk as much money as possible so they just don't give a Sh*t about quality
Hopefully WiT will make it better
It's a given that this will be better than Toei's
Let's see how better this is overall

@TheKrakin Dawg, the pacing for Toei One Piece isn't even bad. Y'all just nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking. You One Piece haters fr need patience but it is a virtue that not everyone can have. Slow doesn't equal bad, by the way. BEST TAKE: Toei One Piece is special, and Wit Studio's One Piece will also be special. |

@APolygons2 The earlier arcs have no pacing issues, at most you can remove the fillers, which One Pace already does. The anime is still ongoing, a live action adaptation is still ongoing, there are movie recaps of the first arcs with updated animation, this is just a cashgrab, and sadly it's gonna work. |

Like in this thread Toei and Wit are anime studios while Fuji tv is a Japanese tv station (channel who currently air one piece) and Netflix is Netflix who in this case it's an interesting question has what will happen with one piece if you compare them with one of their other IP JoJo as to what they will do with it. |

Isn't wit the studio that's also making that suicide squad anime? For the studio that put anime on the mainstream with attack on titan, it's dissapointing that they're going for obvious 'cash grabs' by western studios searching for mainstream hits (I hate using the 'cash grab' term but can't think of another word that suits it better). There's so much unadapted manga out there and this is what they're doing instead of finding the next attack on titan. |

Oh and also because Oda literally saying you can skip 1050 chapters of his own work because it finally where he wants it to be so that only speaks to the quality of those first 1050 chapters in my opinion from my childhood memories of those first 100 episodes I watched

@Deknijff the repeating is because the anime does have shit pacing, that's we have things like one pace that cuts all the bad pacing and makes it exactly like the manga the chosen one thing is a big misunderstanding, it's more like it just happened, or luffy just happened to be lucky. @Deknijff ok so i just checked on twitter and he said it's fine to start reading because all the mysteries start to get revealed, i personally don't think Oda telling it's fine to start reading from chapter 1050 means that the quality of one piece is bad but we all think differently |

@Deknijff As a long time One Piece fan, I'll say that you definitely can't just skip 1000 chapters and expect to understand anything about the series. Oda probably said that just to ease people into starting a 1000 chapters long series. Netflix green-lit this project due to the success of the One Piece Live Action. Unfortunately the 1999 anime version is dated and a lot of the newer fans who were introduced to One Piece through the Live Action couldn't get into the older anime style, that's why they got Wit Studio to remake One Piece and update it with modern animation and way better pacing. |
