now this was a great ep

i already figured that Naofumi would save those 2 the trash and the bitch slut LOL
but it turned out even better this way

but it really is to bad about Melty losing her as a party member and probably not seeing her as much anymore unless something happens later on in the series but idk since i dont read the LN or the Manga just yet

but yeah great ep looking forward to the next

I made a wrong choice to watch this episode cause it's really a cliff hanger for me but nevertheless this episode is the best, Motoyasu already know that all the accusation of Malty to Naofumi is just a groundless accusation and it is just made up but the down part in Motoyasu is the he kept on believing to Malty even though the Queen already put a temporary slave crest and it already expose Malty but anyway I just hope that Motoyasu will follow Naofumi's examples of being a hero, for Malty and the king death sentence is (just like Naofumi said) not enough, for all the humiliation they brought to Naofumi. Naofumi made the right choice to intervene to the public execution of the the king and the first princess, and lastly the part that made this episode the best among the rest is that Naofumi is already accepted in Melromarc, I just can't wait for the next episode.

This episode was so satisfying in so many ways
Watashi wa a victim of cyberbullying. Everyday someone online calls me a "weeb" desu. Watashi won't stand for this. 26 percent of bullying victims are chosen due to their race or religion desu. I may look like a basic white boy, but deep down I am Nihongo desu. Watashi religion is anime. Anata wa bullying me because of my race and religion desu ka? Disgusting desu. Anata should be ashamed of yourself, racist pig. A baka gaijin like anata is probably jealous of my race and culture, cause Nippon is more sugoi than your shitty country desu. Watashi pity anata. You'll never be Nihongo like watashi. Educate yourself on nani a "weeb" is.

Nice episode, glad they changed it from the source was about time he stopped being an edgy teenager that just hates everything and has actually gotten character development.

Also for those wondering about them running free, remember the death sentence was only the second punishment, they still lost their status and power and are now just normal people called trash and bitch that noone will treat very kindly I would assume.

This was probably one of the best episode of the series right now. I've never been more satisfied that those two scumbags really deserved to be called trash and a slut for the rest of their lives and giving the shield hero a another opportunity to rise up again

She said she was going to offer her life to Naofumi if he spared the King and Malty.

This made her seem more concerned about them than she was in the manga and Light Novel.

However, in the web novel, she said she still had a bit of feeling for them and asked Naofumi to spare their lives for a humiliating punishment.

Later in the Web Novel, she offered her life to make Naofumi stay in their nation.

I actually liked this scenario more than the one in the manga. I felt like this scenario emphasized the humanity within both naofumi and the queen, whereas the manga portrays naofumi kind of as insane and makes the queens action very unrealistic. The queen did not even hesitate to sentence her husband and daughter to death in the manga when she knows the struggles of her husband and his past with the shield devil. She should have felt some emotion of killing them. I think the anime scenario portrayed the queen as a much more realistic character and mother/wife

I agree, I like this scenario better, it felt less like reveling in revenge than in the manga.

In the manga, it was Naofumi who demanded their death though. He had absolutely no sympathy for them at all.

The queen, however, convinced him it was better to leave them alive and make them suffer. She may have just been manipulating Naofumi, but she did suggest skinning them alive and tearing off their arms and legs as an alternate punishment. In reality, they would have died if that happened to them.

So I am not sure if the queen was just tricking Naofumi to spare them in the manga, because she cared for them, or if she genuinely wanted them to be tortured.

In the web novel, she admitted she had some very slight feelings for them.

This episode completely and utterly changed Naofumi's character, and it changed the Queen's character some what too. She seemed less able to manipulate any situation to her desire, and she seemed more emotional. In other material, she may have still loved Malty and the King, but she did not let those emotions show.

Damn, I really wasn't sure what kind of approach Naofumi would have when preventing their execution, and I laughed my ass off alone when he suggested changing their names to straight up Bitch and Trash ahahah

This episode was okay-ish but it's too tame compared to the original material and they changed some of the more controversial parts of it that would spark better reactions. I guess it's understandable because they want to paint Naofumi in a merciful good light.

The manga was way darker. It s logical that they made the anime for a younger audience but it destroys what made the manga so special

then do not complain that the adaptation is not up to the original material because the web novel is trash, Nao is just a bastard who does atrocities and who likewise treat him like a hero anyway.

both versions are garbage, one is a generic shounen mc, the other is some edgy shit

You mean to tell me all this buildup was to this revelation?! How underwhelming.

I’m disappointed how this episode played out.

The punishment was a joke. The King and Princess should have been banished from the land, that would have been a more poetic punishment for those two who fought so hard conspiring about Naofumi and trying to kill the heir in order to succeed the throne. Being branded childish nicknames like “Trash” and “Bitch” is way too easy for their crimes. Fanboys are happy they got their revenge porn I guess.

I can’t believe Not Kirito and Bow idiot took so long to realise Myne was trying to kill Metly.

Anyone notice how great Myne’s tits looked this episode? Gotta animate them perfectly for the revenge porn fanservice that’s about to be served!

I sympathised with the King a bit. Despite his wrongdoings, he did do what was best for his family. I wanted to see a flashback why he hates the Devil Shield so much because what the previous one did to his family, but since the writer likes writing one dimensional characters they chose to omit that to portray him as a evil Shield Hero hater.

OMG this is what Shield Hero has all been leading up to the final retribution of bitch and trash which they actually got called that XD the best. I bet nearly everyone was like me smiling my ass off the entire episode and Naofumi further proving how he's the best hero.

Also I absolutely loved that song towards the end amazing music.

One thing that's sucks is this isn't the final episode, this is literally the perfect place to end with Naofumi having his name cleared and ending the episode on the name the Shield Hero.

Practically the queen was the one who ended up saving him and cleaning his reputation at the end (if someone at this point dares to say that Nao had to fight on his own to clear his name, he is lying) in short, the "punishment" seems a joke like the antagonists themselves, I was to be expected from a type of absurd writing by this author, but the real question now is what will be the great bait of the show without the idiots who annoyer the protagonist? Will they invent worse enemies? Maybe you see the waves? Glass? I doubt it, the majority cares little about that plot.

It was funny seeing the usually calm Melty lose her composure by being teased by her mother. Still the queen sure is quite the interesting character being both strong willed and wise unlike her husband. The trial though sure was pretty damm interesting. Having Malty get a slave mark though sure was an interesting move as while humiliating her it also forced her to reveal the truth to the queen's questions. Naofumi's decision to step in sure came in at the nick of time saving not just Malty and the king but also the queen as well from making a life changing decision. An excellent ep that while doing well in clearing Naofumi's name and giving Malty and the king their fitting punishment also did well in expanding upon the Queen's character as well. The insight into the hero summoning and the effects that it has on the world as well was interesting. Bitch/Slut huh a fitting name for Malty. Now that his stigma of being a villain is gone its nice that Naofumi is able to become a real hero thats acknowledged by others. The last scene did well to symbolise this.

For the most part I agree, the one problem with the change is that it completely clashes with the renaming scene, which works better in the other sources where Naofumi is more of an edge-lord ass, and it fits how he was written. Here, it shifts from potential character development and mercy to the scene straight out of the source material befitting the other Naofumi. And at that point, he has no real need to act that way either, as his name has been cleared. He might have been play-acting for the mob, but that seems too out of character as well, and he definitely isn't an entertainer.

That's one of my main problems with the adaptation. It's good when it seems like they're trying and going all out with the production, but their other episodes sometimes fall flat (like the side stories and development episodes like 17-19). In the manga and LN it's told much better since you can just keep reading them and it isn't split into episodes, but the anime needs to find better ways in order to be more consistent with the animation and storytelling constantly. Still one of my favorite episodes, but I'm really hopeful that if there's a season 2, they take more time to make it in order to flesh out the plot and make sure the animation is more consistently good as well.

But tbf, it's not OPM 2 lvls of bad in the slightest (I still like OPM 2 but it's hardly watchable still). Hell, a lot of the episodes are actually really good but like I did say it needs better storytelling and consistency with it too

I LOVED, I LOVED, I LOVED ..... THIS EPISODE!
Without a doubt, it has been the best episode of the anime so far. I can not find the appropriate words to describe the immense happiness and satisfaction I felt when I saw this episode. I even felt the desire to cry of joy.
After all, justice was done and the truth finally came to the light of the whole Kingdom. Everything that Naofumi suffered because of the King ESCORIA, the Princess BITCH and the Church; after all the injustices, accusations, lies, etc. towards him ... in spite of everything, Naofumi behaved like a whole HERO and saved his pathetic lives.
He smiled, he really smiled! 😁 And the Queen also acted in an incredible way. That woman is great!

Naofumi, without a doubt, is one of my favorite Anime characters. He has shown me great values such as justice, courage and, as in this episode, compassion. In some way I identify with him. I would nominate him as one of the best male characters of Anime 2019. He deserves it in this episode and many other things.
And speaking of this anime series, it's one of the best I've seen and frankly it's one of my favorites this year. I suppose that if the anime is so incredible, the novel should be much better when transmitting the feelings of the characters with each word expressed.

Without more to say, and sketching a smile, I LOVE THE HAPPY FINALS 😁👌. GREAT NAOFUMI! 👏 AN INCREDIBLE ANIME! THE BEST OF THE BEST I HAVE SEEN !.

In the end, everyone has his due: reward or punishment. "YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW". Everything in the world is spinning.

Ps: I was very pleased to see that despite having everything against her and having the mark of slavery as a lie detector, the dog Melty was still lying and lying. That woman has no shame.

Did someone else think this was the end of the season? xD. In fact, I would have been very satisfied if this episode had been the end of the first season.

there were 3 scenes I was looking forward to.

first: naofumi snapping after the duel and turns to incoherent rage.
instead I got naofumi imagining raphtalia leaving him and he's very sad.

second: raphtalia showing no mercy to the asshole who tortured her.
instead I got raph going full "if I kill you I'll be no better than you"

third: naofumi outright ordering the queen to execute bitch and the king.
instead I got naofumi having nightmares about them dying, then the queen handling the execution which he willingly stopped.

I got robbed of all the good moments in this story. I hope the director is proud of himself for shitting up this show, removing all the interesting stuff.
Now somebody tell me, why did we need the island arc to be included? This ep was a "very good" place to stop in the story. should've spent the time on fleshing out important parts.
He did it only because he saw queen having problem to execute them. (you heard her if he didnt stop it, she will try to beg for their lives)
