Nothing wrong, just dont sneak food that are too pungent. Or food that may distract others from enjoying the movie, like noodles (i kid you not).

It was against the rules at a theater I worked at, but we rarely enforced it...unless a manager was watching or something. Even then it was kind of rare. The employees themselves usually agree that the food is absurdly priced. I generally brought my own drinks in even when I worked there.

A more serious problem would be people trying to get into the theater without a ticket.

Hell no. A small bag of popcorn in the movie theater costs like $10, they should no people wouldn't waste money on it. So just bringing your own food is perfectly fine, to me.

No, Unless you brought a six pack for you and your friends or maybe you brought 2 six packs and sold some to the family next to you.

Just don't make the movie staff clean up the food you snuck in...

No of course it is not wrong but it kind of is bad to eat food with allergens in public spaces as it can get on your hands or leave crumbs behind and you can pass it on to a surface like the seat arms where someone else can get an allergic reaction. Keeping out food with allergens is part of the reason for rule as well as certain things that leave a huge mess worse than others but of course as many likely said the real reason is to overprice you for food and beverages.

it's not wrong, however food sales are pretty much one of the only sources of revenue for a movie theatre - most of the ticket sales go to the owners of the film being shown. that's the big reason as to why theatre food is so expensive.

It's ridiculous, the prices on most if not everything in theatres are atrocious. People sneak food in all the time since they have unreasonable prices and half of the food they sell can be bought nearby for cheaper then the other half isn't even good enough quality to be sold at such a price.
So yeah screw theatres that don't allow outside food.

lol

on topic: Depends on the prices of the theatre. If the theatre sells food for a reasonable amount of money, I'd say its wrong. If their prices are laughable high, its wrong to not sneak food in.
Dont support shit prices.

I used to work at a movie theater, and I totally agree the food is overpriced. But for me I like to treat myself every once in awhile, not every time though. And taking into consideration the prices of tickets it's justifiable that people wouldn't want to pay $4 for a $1 candy. The way I've always seen it is if you are smart about the way you sneak the food or drinks into the theater I wouldn't realize it anyways until after you had left. It's when people don't try that I just laugh and tell them to finish it or throw it away.

Why would I have to sneak in my food?

Unless I added Hashish into that stuff I don't think I would ever have to. And besides, it's fucking absurd to not let people bring their own food into theatres.

According to theatre policy, yes it is most definitely wrong. It's private property, and banning outside food to be brought in to the theatre does not violate your rights, therefore that policy is perfectly legal. As such that it is not only private property but also a private business, they're free to charge as they please, since they possess a monopoly on food items in the theatre.

That being said, it is pretty easy to sneak in some food, and yes I have done it before. If you're going to do it, you might as well admit that you're doing something wrong. Otherwise, how else would one enjoy the thrill of breaking the rules?

It's not allowed in the theatre where I live, but some of the employees don't care anymore, so it's cool.

Now charging $15 for a small popcorn?
That's wrong.

Buy your drink and bag of popcorn from a supermarket and spend $5-7.
Damn robbers.

I never usually eat at the cinema but I always carry a drink with me, cinema or not.

I find it irritating when people bring in their own food and then leave all their wrappers and empty bottles behind. That kind of piss-taking always put me off ever applying for a job at a cinema.

The only thing unfair is the price of the food.
A box of candy is 5 dollars alone, then the movie is like 30 { since i never go alone ehehe } and for a drink it's 5 dollars then the popcorn is like 11 -3-

I think its bad to charge so damn much for a bit of cheap food/drinks.

The worst part is the beer, why would a bottle that would cost like 60 cents for them to buy, cost 4 euro's for us?

Not wrong. Unless they state no outside food. Otherwise they are wrong.

Tend to just get cheap snacks from a supermarket nearby, and water and drinks. $10 can geed a group fo 3-4 easily, with still food remaining at the end.

I always bring bottled water in my purse. You can't be expected to sit through a 3 hour movie without so much as a drink, and it shouldn't even be legal to charge $3 for a bottle of water.

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall a law about restaurants inside airports not being allowed to charge more for their food than those of the same restaurant outside of the airport in that specific area. I feel that a similar law would be justified for theaters. A box of snow caps that costs $1 everywhere else shouldn't cost $3.49 in the theater.

Essentially my sentiments in a nutshell. Theme parks do the same thing with their food and drink prices so I avoid buying anything from either establishment outside of the initial ticket sale. I've snuck small snacks into a movie before but nothing really substantial.

The corollary to that, of course, is that I can't be expected to sit through a 3 hour movie without having to go to the bathroom, so I try to avoid drinks or at least just sip once in a while.
