When you see something weird like this: %E3%82%A2%E3%82%B9%E3%82%AF%E3%83%AB each group of three things stands for one computer byte. For example, %E3 corresponds to one computer byte. The E and the 3 are in "hexadecimal" in case you are interested. In English, we would often use one byte to stand for one letter (the "ASCII" code). But that doesn't work in Japanese since they have thousands of symbols. As a result, groups of bytes are used to represent single symbols in Japanese. Some of you may have heard about "Unicode" which is a worldwide system that can handle every language in the world including Japanese, Chinese, Korean and so on. By Googling for portions of this overall thing, I was able to break it down. By the way, the way to do it is to Google it surrounded by quotes. After a lot of messing around, I was able to deduce the following: %E3%82%A2%E3 ---> ア or a %82%B9%E3%82 ---> ス or su %AF%E3%83%AB ---> クル or ku ru So, indeed, the whole thing means アスクル, which is ASKUL. And you already found the URL: http://www.askul.co.jp/. This is the "Askul Internet Shop". It is an online store. It totally makes sense that Tomoko would go onto the Askul website in order to buy something that she needs. Most people would simply walk to the store, but Tomoko can't deal with people face-to-face. It was good that you looked closely. Clearly the people producing the anime are careful to put in correct details. So all of us should watch carefully to see what other interesting things can be found if we are sharp-eyed. DEFINITELY, finish watching the episode! It is really good. |

| Well this snuck up on me. Never expected this to get an adaptation and this did not get ANY real attention from any people, so imagine my surprise to see this being made. I am going to love this show so much. People expecting an outright funny cheerful comedy should turn away as this is more of a tragicomedy/dark satire than usual comedic super-idealized otaku hijinks. |

| Hmm, where do I start... Well, I can see why some people would find this anime offensive, but I don't think is the author's intent to simply laugh of people with social anxiety. Some considerations: -Tomoko is obviously exaggerated to extremes; it's almost impossible to imagine a person like her. Homever, her antics are exaggerrated in a way that we can relate; she makes us remember embarassing things that we had done in our childhood/adolescence. -"But hey, I know people similar to her! Social anxiety is a serious subject!" Of course, and the story seems to recognize that. We can laugh at the silly things Tomoko does, but we can sympathize with her awkwardness. Because she act like she is all full and proud of herself, but she seems to recognize (to a certain degree, of course; at least is what I noticed) that she is not that great or the things that she does are not that great (just look at the scene where she throws her portable away). Also, the ED is all about her attempts to be accepted in society. I think I have more to think about this anime, but right now I think it's amazing. I don't really see it as meanspirited. |

And yes, many people create lies and exaggerations about other people so they can avoid accepting they have to change their own behavior. This is interesting: Tomoko thinks the girls from her school are all bitches, but they are just... hanging out with their friends. They don't even look all full of themselves. I'd risk to say that they are the exact ideal of popularity Tomoko is searching - friendly, pretty and (probably) modest - but Tomoko doesn't notice this. It get even more interesting if you think how much Tomoko is too focused on date sims where the most timid and recluse girl can get the prettiest boys - who needs to be like those bitches, all pretending to be sweet and friendly, eh?? I know how some people can't enjoy this, but for me Watamote looks fascinating, hilarious and cringe-worthy (in a good way) at the same time. If it keeps up, I have a strong contender for my list of best anime of 2013. |

| I had seen gifs of this show on Tumblr and when I finally learned its long ass name I watched it. Was not what I was expecting at all. I fucking love it! It's so different from the usually cliche high school drama crap and I'm so glad that the main character is an introvert instead of a dumb beautiful bimbo. I can tell I will love this anime. Can't wait for the next episode! |

| Gestaltzerfall In the mirror/vomit scene, Tomoko uses the word "gestaltzerfall". I did not know the meaning of the word "gestaltzerfall". Apparently, some academic Japanese psychology researchers orginally invented this word (ゲシュタルト崩壊) as a technical term, and the subtitlers apparently didn't see how to express it more clearly. | Hmm, it feels a lot less awkward than the manga. Maybe the presence of colors are a factor... or maybe it's because the anime made Tomoko a bit cuter in some parts than she really was in the manga. Still had its funny parts, though. For an adapted comedy, it can work. Feels kinda weird to hear Yuuichi Nakamura voice the younger brother now. I got too used to hearing him as the older brother from Oreimo. Is it just me or is Tomoki a lot more helpful to his sister than I remember? |
