The one scene I remember with any distinctness is in the second episode from the end where the villain (muscly and ugly, I think he has a cape?) crushes one of the cute little helper robots underfoot and says something to the effect of it is his right to do it since they are only robots. And the good guys are seething but are powerless to do anything.

Hi ! A long time ago in the early 2000s I saw an anime on Comcast's On Demand anime section. I'm trying to re-live my childhood so I really wanna find it !
All I remember about it is that the main character was an elementary school girl with either pink or brown hair in a normal looking ponytail and big round glasses. She finds an alien-mech man thing and she tries to help it because it's hurt, but it trashes the place until it trusts her. Later on, the alien thing's enemies from its planet trash her hometown and everything is in ruins. Everyone blames her, and she went blind from people beating her up and bullying her.
The main scene I remember from that part is when a bunch of other elementary school girls try to coax her (when she's blind) to walk off of a high ledge. The girl might also be an orphan.

Does this ring a bell for anyone ? Please help me if it does ! I just remember that it's a 90's style anime. Thank you !
