This training camp has overstayed its welcome. Plus, now I like the second-years so much I have no reason to care about the "main trio" since they're all so one-note in terms of personality. Did not see that coming.
I have my own anime blog. It's called Anime Viking. Hope you'll you read it!

Not bad, a first-year finally made it through the second-years' so-called "teamwork".

Once I felt that the pacing wasn't going to speed up, I started skipping through the episode. I'm simply not interested in the second years at all. They need to wrap the training camp up, it's getting old. 2/5

exactly what I was thinking; I began skipping too. I'm starting to get bored

Onoda started out as a cool otaku but now he is just lame and a freakin' eyesore. His smiles creep me out.

I am totally rooting for the 2nd years, I like the perm dude. There is no one in the first year trio that I like and it sucks that they take up most of the screentime, ugh.
I hope there will be more appearances from the 2nd years and the 3rd. Only watching it for them and the Hakone team.

Four things.
1. Onoda, the main character, is really talented, unbelievably talented.
2. He started earlier than any of them in the morning, and he can last longer than a second year. Why not?
3. Hard work is shit without talent. That's some pretty damn bad message this series is trying to pass across. No matter how hard we work, those without talent cannot surpass those with talent.
4. I really cannot come to like Onoda.

I scored the series a "4", before this episode I wanted to increase it to a "7", but this episode killed it, once again. At times, I really love it, and at times like this, I really dislike it. Sigh. Don't forget, the first years are still handicapped, god damn. Sigh, whatever.

I personally think the 2nd years deserve to go to inter-high for working with the limited talent that they have. I like onoda as a character, but god given talent being rewarded all the time bores me.

Yep, and it's already their second year! It's so sad if they can't participate when they are actually putting load of effort in their traning!

Yeah, but the thing is their attitudes (or at least the perm guy's) suck! I know what it's like to love a hobby but still suck at it. But I don't let the fact that I'm not not a prodigy and not the best turn me into a sour person who wants to crush their other teammates just because they're more talented than me. Onoda and the others are also giving it all they've got. They're not going to succeed just because they're talented.

On another note, Onoda is so stinkin' cute! I can't handle it...

Sorry, but I don't see how do they suck. He wants to crush them so that they won't be able to continue, which give them chances to catch up again. Selfishness is human's nature. In fact, the perm guy actually doesn't mind letting his team mate gets all the glory. Let's say if they are not going against the main characters, would you still think the same about them? What if they are the main characters instead, would you still say that their attitude sucked? Edit: Oh and, Onoda stating that he wants both Imaizumi and Naruko to participate in the inter-high means that they will crush the second years' dream and effort, it's the same logic. If you hate the second years, hate the first years too.

Yeah I really dislike his smiling face, sigh. He was a funny otaku before. I like Naruko and Imaizumi, but I just temporarily lose interest in them as soon as those second years are introduced.

Having a strategy and wanting to win is fine and all, but this guy is a jerk trying to crush his teammates for his own personal gain. I'll be happy to see the end of his role in this anime.

As for the heavy wheels, don't forget that he's been riding a utility bike with small front gear for years. And he has been riding longer than any of the others, so I buy his improvement. I also think he took a very short rest when he switched sides. I also think the previous :40 bursts weren't his max limit at full power, because he didn't have an all-consuming need to reach that limit before.
Your mean should be an even bell curve only if you watch every show that comes out. Having a high-slung mean doesn't mean you're rating improperly. It can also mean you're selecting shows well to watch mostly things you enjoy.

I didn't like perm-sempai attitude but I think the second years should have still be in the lead because they trained hard to go to inter-high, and onoda passing perm sempai seemed very unfair to me. 1. He just started bike racing and 2. His wheels are suppose to be heavier than the others but he is riding at the same seed or maybe faster than them. I beat that when he takes the heavy wheels off his bike he won't be faster than imaizumi or naruko, But you know this is anime logic. Also the fact that onada wants imaizumi and naruko to go to inter-high and he will catch up annoyance the heck out of me, I despise the whole friendship and love themes in these kind of anime's.

What sucks is that they can't all go to the Inter-high. ^^;

Aoyagi and Teshima have worked really hard to get a spot on the team, and you'd like to think that that alone would earn it for them... but we don't all get what we want. It's not a bad message, it's reality. Sometimes hard work alone isn't enough, especially when the people with talent are also busting their balls.

When it comes down to it... Teshima is only there to get Aoyagi on the stand, and without Teshima, Aoyagi wouldn't make it. They are really normal people. Nothing wrong with that, and their team work is exemplary, but if you want to make a team that will win, do you want to put on two people who are only great together, or two people who are each great? I'm sure there are people in the inter-high who wouldn't have any trouble passing Teshima's wall...

That said, Onoda is both endearing (I really do cheer for him), and annoying (what the heck is with him always catching up? It defies logic!) so I don't really know what to do with him. ^^; I do think that Imaizumi and Naruko are more interesting... but they need to start working together and not against each other so much.

*shrug* I'm still enjoying it, but I'm not going to look forward to the results of this training camp, really... because someone is going to get their dreams crushed, no matter what. ;_; And I have a feeling it's going to be the 2nd years, just because it's already been established that the 1st years are the MCs.

Onoda needs more otaku time. The omake was adorable, but not enough. *lol*

I can't help but root for the second years and the MCs :( Teshima is a little too bitter, though. Also, the scene after the credits is always hilarious! Lol Imaizumi knowing the lyrics

Starting back again from where I last left off, the OST during the final climb was awesome, compare to OST for Aldnoah Zero, granted I have only seen one episode, but many praises the rather-ordinary OST in it's first episode. ~.~

But if you think about it, what is talent anyway? Imaizumi and Naruko both worked hard to reach this step, the second years also worked hard even with their weak body, and Onoda got used to hill climbing after his years of traveling to Akihabara. I don't know if you can really call that talent, it's all hard works, and God's gift (healthy body).

It would be so much believable if it's Imaizumi or Naruko who passed the second year, but it's Onoda, handicapped and just started. His growth is just ridiculous no matter how you see it. From what I heard, Ace of Diamond have a similar situation, a few pitchers on the main team, but the protagonist does not steal away all the spotlight from the other pitchers.

I think the 2nd years deserve to win, they trained so hard to prove they could be winners without talent. Their bitterness is justified, I'd be bitter as hell two if I trained my ass off just be be beaten by a bunch of prodigies.

I seriously don't get why Onoda passing him matters though? They all know he's behind in laps.

Eh, I don't actually care that much about the 2nd years so I skimmed over their backstory. I mean I get it but they're not the mains so obviously they'll lose out. It's how anime works. Besides, personality-wise, they don't really appeal to me either. Seaweed head is too bitter, can't say much for the quiet one.

It's a bit surprising that Onoda is the one that passed but then again, he's the climber isn't he?

Training camp needs to end soon, this is getting old.

I agree with a lot of the commenters here, the first years will get their chance to go next year. The second years have been training hard and it's not like they're all pros-- they're students. I think the second years should get the chance to go to the Inter-High. So many sports shows just focus on amazingly talented kids...

didn't like two last episodes, i believe its necessary to develop those 2 characters, but they seem so uninteresting, and you know they won't make it to inter high, cause MC power. Episode was slow paced too :(

This is silly, I care about the 2nd years more than the freshmen after this backstory episode. Onoda's passing Teshima shouldn't matter at all, he's so far behind with his laps the guy should've just ignored him. I feel like the writer simply forgot about logic here.

The training started out really well but it's ending on a pretty disappointing note. Although the second years' plight about being ordinary and how much harder they must work is relatable and inspiring, it's simply not written very interestingly. Don't like that they're written to be both pitiful and cheap obstacles to overcome.

These flashbacks always make me root for the characters, even if Teshima is going a bit too far considering the cicumstances. It's kinda ridiculous xD

Hype Onoda moment at the end. Finally some teamwork from the first years.

Very inspiring to see the 'ordinary cyclists' Aoyagi and Teshima not giving up hope in the past and combined their efforts to reach greater heights.

I liked to know the story of Teshima and Aoyagi, I feel it was nice to know them better and their motivation. I don't think they're the 'bad guys' of the chapter, actually they just wanted to accomplish their dream, and I admire that I mean, who does not want to make their dreams true, this is a good example of friendship and teamwork.
It was great when Onoda finally passed the guy though...
