Definitely one of the prettiest protags this season! This was such a cute and chill vibe. The healing anime term gets thrown around a lot, but this really is one of them shows you can just sit down on the couch, turn your brain off and feel your day getting better because of. Fuji trying to convince everyone her raccoon is a dog had me dying, especially the silly ass Vet. I wonder what else he’ll be able to do, he’s learning how to write and communicate with her, will he be able to help out with chores around the house so she can focus on her novel(s)? Or maybe even helping her write them at some point lol. Being a novelist is a field that requires muses and things to help inspire you, getting a new roomate/pet/best friend could be that catalyst for Fuji. Looking forward to more! Yeah I also thought she looks quite a lot like Kujira Reiko, the biggest difference is the hair but they could be twins otherwise |

| Omg. This. This is something I've been craving for. Completely slow, calm, warm and no noise at all even the OP and ED are easy listening. The visuals are gorgeous and Fuji-san especially is oh~ so charming ♡ I thought it would lean towards comedy like Dekineko, but it turns out to be a relaxing and down-to-earth anime. Reminds me of She and Her Cat... two lonely souls who fill each other's lives. Anyway, whichever way you look at it, it's a tanuki.... although it's cute that it can pretend to be a dog or a cat, hahaha. |

| This was good, but it makes no sense that she didn't recognize a tanuki. At the very least she should've mistaken it for a raccoon. I'm not even going to touch her thinking a dog can write. I kind of want to see her brother come over like 'what is that?' and 'where's the dog?' |

| I'm not quite sure about this... it's oddly bland, and the tanuki (that the description on crunchyroll INSISTS is a dog) doesn't have eyes for some reason, and can communicate by writing words on paper and chick doesn't bat an eye. I like tanukis and I usually like iyashikei but somehow this is too quiet and the dialogue from the woman feels one-sided. Tanukis with leaves on their heads are supposed to be tricksters, so maybe that holds some promise.... but if it's 12 episodes of the same sort of thing with piano music, I don't think I can deliberately watch this and stay awake. |
| 6/10 solid. the art is great, that eye looks so damn pretty, blue and piercing in beauty. That tanuki is just so cute, this is def not the same or similar to the Cat-and-OL anime. This is much slower and more cuteness, though honestly it's unrealistic that such a tanuki would ever exist (that it knows how to communicate with human by actual writings...) so the most this can get out of me is 6/10, for now at least. And really, not sure how they can run this kind of plot for a good 12eps length, but we'll see I guess. |
| wow this is so awesome. can tell its made with love. it was funny when he started conversing using pen and paper. i wonder if this is gonna be similar to that reincarnated as pig anime. or maybe we are just supposed to believe that it can talk and watch their life together from now on. which works for me. only the first epsiode and really liking it. came with no expectations and now gonna watch it every week. |

| i love the manga of this so much, it was just begging for an anime adaption! first episode was perfect. this story embodies magical realism, it's way more enjoyable for her to calmly accept that her new pet can write compared to having a typical comedy style over the top reaction. |

| Kinda makes you wonder how long they’ll keep doing the whole “abandoned dog” thing, but hey, I’m here for it lol. The show doesn’t really stand out much production-wise, except for the surprisingly nice OP and ED, but it’s a chill and cute little story that’s easy to come back to each week, even if it’s nothing flashy. |

| ASMR the Anime. This was the last on my list of first episodes of new series to try for the day and decided I was just going to watch a few minutes of it, like the first five minutes, to get a quick sample and taste, and then come back to it later, as I had something to do out (of the house) with a bit of a timeframe on it. Ended up being unable to pull myself away and watching the whole thing as minutes just melted away and flew by unexpectedly, in a way which they don't even for anime I'm a lot more intellectually and emotionally invested in and/or have followed for a long time. Could end up being a great iyashikei. Quite blessed for choice, aren't summer seasonal watchers? As there are a lot of unique anime this season. Between this, Ruri no Houseki, Leviathan, Futari Solo Camp, apparently Turkey!, and more, what a crazy mishmash of offerings. But if Ruri no Houseki covers the educational SoL of the season, I wasn't expecting this to go so intensively hardcore on the iyashikei front, but hopefully it's not one of those deals where that approach is relegated to only or mainly the first episode. I can say that anime like this - or, it's probably more accurate to say, anime like what this potentially appears to be at this very early stage, are exceptionally rare. Even among Slice of Life and even among iyashikei SoL specifically. And by "like this" I mean ones where everyone down to minor characters is almost completely just calm and nice, and the environment of the show and associated mellow vibes that engenders. It's early days to say whether that will remain the case, but at this time of preliminary judgment the closest point of comparison is to something like Flying Witch, which is like the highest honor. |

| Its always such a nice feeling finding the cozy vibes of the season for yourself and this definitely might be mine. Classic iyashikei with pet animals, in this case a tanuki with cue cards or "a dog". I like the concecpt of having a pet who can converse with you. Art style & visual are great with such a nice perfect blend to adapt to the theme of the show. Be it from having nice little meals or having a relaxing bath while enjoying the rain from the window, that scene just sent me to the comfy realm like i cant explain how much i loved that sequence on a personal level. The sound design and ost was just chefs kiss on top of that & actually made me love the episode 10 times more. As for the mc Fuji our novelist, shes delightful.Her character design to her personality is enjoyable. The way she was trying to convince that her pet is a dog was cute af Plus on top that hayami saori giving us that asmr with her voice is just the cherry on top & i am grateful for this casting. The tanuki is also just adorbs with its little antics with cue cards and other shenanigans, but also having those cute comfy moments. They both make a great pair together.  Great start to their journey and i am looking forward to more comfy chill vibes with these two. Always appreciate a slice of life like this every season. This is definitely going to be my healer after watching takopi episodes. Also props to LeSpirit studios, even though they are known for their cute anime aesthetics they have really outdone themselves with their work including animation, art and sound tracks for this show. Everything on point. The opening by Mamiko suzuki and ending by kei sugawara are just the perfect fit. This is definitely going to be my weekend jam. Waiting for next episode |

| @Ranchpig Yeah, my first thought when I saw the trailer was, "Oh, look, a Kinoko Inu-inspired manga/anime that's gonna be way more popular than its predecessor cos the protagonist is a hot woman," and looks like I was right. Well, it's a fine enough story in its own right, I guess. Though I hope they're gonna clarify how on earth a Japanese woman couldn't recognise a tanuki when even us non-Japanese people figured it out with a single glance. |
| The OP and ED are so great. Definitely will search and add it on my playlist hehe The tanuki dog knows how to write japanese and english lol. The joke that everyone aside from Fuji clearly wants to point out that that is not a dog is hilarious. Love the cameo of cats too, yay. Looking forward to watching this show every week. |
