| So just because Luffy beat Arlong up once, he's not going to just continue what he was doing once he comes back to his senses? | One can see the destruction of the map room as 8 years of work going down the drain but for Nami, it's 8 years of pain and struggle finally being lifted from her shoulders. Never again will she draw a map out of fear for her life because through Luffy, she'll utilize her own talents and follow her passion on the pace she's comfortable in. Arlong got decimated and the island's free! It looks like Nami will be getting her 90+ million Beli back too. One of my favorite anime shirts was actually Luffy's wanted poster plastered over each other so it's cool to see its origins. |

| So the battle ends. Fishman Arlong took a lot time I say. Arlong should have knew that never make a Strawhat Pirate angry especially Luffy. Neither he got 100 million berries nor a chance to live. He got beaten well also. Luffy destroyed him and his pride with the Arlong park. This Marin commander Nezumi was cheap. that guy thought he can now take the village as there is no fishman alive. Zorro alone took care of them. I liked how Nami took revenge. So thanks to Marin commander Nezumi Luffy is now officially a pirate and not a little one. He is having a huge bounty. Finally he got what he should have from the start. |

| Damn, Luffy broke that saw and bent Arlong's nose. He was pissed. He completely tore apart Arlong Park. It was so satisfying watching Colonel Nezumi getting his ass beaten by the villagers and Nami. I still really think they should have confirmed their kills. Like, stab them through the chest or something to confirm that the fishmen are dead for good. Luffy now has a bounty on his head. I wonder if other pirate hunters like Zoro will now come after Luffy. |

It's one of things I wondered about as a child, but then I realized it wouldn't work in a shounen where you have to best your opponents. Imagine how lame that would look to go after those already on the ground xD |

| God this arc was already awesome on it's own but to have Luffy just symbolically destroy Nami's prison on Arlong Park, demolish the rest of the building as well as send Arlong himself to his death via several floors was just satisfying to watch for me. This arc was just plain awesome from start to finish I mean One Piece so far to me was great but there wasn't anything spectacular going on and then this arc comes along and just blows everything out the water, no pun intended. Fight scenes have been solid throughout, so much character development. This is an automatic sold for me I mean I already was but damn if Arlong Park can deliver such much brilliance in one arc then I look forward to the rest of the show. Luffy is officially a pirate now, he's got his own wanted poster which he will no doubt see pretty soon. Posted up somewhere on his travels in the near future. Otherwise so many fantastic moments in this episode and once again it's completely sold me on One Piece as an entity. |
| Maybe I was just that much of a sucker for Baratie, and I sort-of purposefully wasn't trying to read into things very hard the first time around, but Arlong Park has been an exceptional watch! Luffy's final battle against Arlong, as well each of the Strawhats' prior fights, were far more engaging animated. Although I still stand by Nami's backstory being the obvious peak of the arc, everything felt surprisingly cohesive as one ridiculous thing after another would occur. This, for me, made Luffy's absolute resolve during the penultimate moments of his fight that much more enjoyable. He and Nami's friendship won out completely, and it got me far more emotional in this episode alone than it did in the manga. Not to mention Usopp and Zoro's magnificent characterization this arc. Zoro in particular already stood out to me in the manga, but Usopp's self-actualization into full-blown action is a wonderful thing to see here. Something about the voice and overall presentation of the conflict make it quite a bit more impactful than it was before. Overall, a great time! The final scene that leaves us with the knowledge Luffy's going to be pursued by the Marines is also a significant moment that I like a lot. It's only made all the better by knowing what comes next. Very excited to start Arabasta after Roguetown! |
