Amid his intense training, Kafka receives his cell phone and, for the first time in a long while, gets a message from his classmates. Meanwhile, the higher-ups in the Defense Force are preoccupied with the growing number of unresolved kaiju incidents across Japan.
14 cases in one month!!!! They are in for a hectic events I guess.
Looks like No.4 weapon is ready.
Ashiro-san she's brave now but still we're afraid of No.9 he's too powerful no compromise on that.
This week's "Hoshina Night Nippon" was too funny because of Narumi's Script 😂.

@Ricky16 14 incidents, but only 5 new kaiju, so several just kept appearing and disappearing, it seems. Kind of underwhelming with the reveal, but the budget is what it is and it was decent

Looks like those 14 different sightings were really just 1, though I am sort of speculating. But I am guessing this is #9's latest creation.

@Sheol01 They specify 5 individual ones, though it's possible there were others that were minor, but these 5 are intended as boss level, I think. The monolith one's especially weird

What's the point of showing Isao unless they actually will have him take control of the kaijuu so they can land the final attack, and it'll be an 'epic' moment or something.

This show is so shounen...

At least they acknowledge they have Weapons for 3, 5 and 7 and candidates, though it feels like they're not gonna get a lot of attention. One would think Mina might get one, maybe even Ogata, but the author took the inverse of the Bleach series with 13 captains to split attention and instead we mostly focus on Division 3 and 1, 2 and 4 getting occasional acknowledgement.

This episode was definition of the calm before the storm. It was nice to see some actual interaction between Kafka and Mina. Even if it felt awkward.

I thought the new generation of kaiju was the finished product? Seems to me No.9 has made a bunch of prototypes to figure out what works. The knock-off monolith seems out of place though, it seems more like a manufactured thing than a living organism.

It's still for Kafka that he sees people still care about him, and his talking scene with Mina was heartwarming. Still 14 cases of kaijuu is very worrying especially with how the episode ended. On the other side it's good to see Isao still has his consciousness

@GTRaijin yeah, why is this old fart so insecure about what people are thinking about him? Sure, when there is a young protagonist it comes with their age, but dude is a grown ass man.

A bit of Narumi and a bit of Hoshina. Aww. And the dialogue between Reno and Kafka, always funny xD And hearthwarming.
Kafka and Mina finally had a bit time to talk. Finally.

Just a random thought. What of the army was still preparing for battle, but Kaiju stopped showing because... they hot somehow extinct? xD And people would keep preparing and preparing for final battle for generations, but Kaiju would never come.

Kaiju No.9 feeling kinda troll-y when creating that ballerina-looking Kaiju that can disguise as Kikoru.

4/5 episode. Far more interesting than the previous two and even more eventful in terms of plot development. I particularly liked how eerie the sequence with the introduction of the new Kaiju's felt.

I'm not enjoying this anime that much lately, but I kinda enjoyed this episode; it was a nice "calm before the storm" type of episode.

ngl, this whole "training arc" or "give characters undeserved power ups" felt like it could just be 2 episodes and that's me being generous. ever since the kaijuu 9 incident we can definitely see a shift where everyone is pressured to change and be better. but if you're just gonna give them the power ups with some bs convenience, it could've just been 2 episodes.

because why was ichikawa power up just more ice power there's nothing different. hoshino having kaijuu 10 weapon and shinomiya having her mother's suit was more interesting and it was just a fucking offscreen training fight.

ep 10 and ep 11 better be some fight to counter the stagnant pace of these past 4 episodes.

It was sad to see Kafka being insecure and afraid to communicate with his squad members. I’m glad Reno and Iharu set things straight and reminded him that they were all worried about him.

damn, from seeing the reunite conversation between mina and Kafka js 2 see that kaijuu killing the ppl in a place in a second is pure terror and crazy

this ep is focusing on Kafka ad reuniting with teammates and his childhood friend, it was warm and interesting seeing him happy to reunite with Members of the Third Defense Division, but I agree with mina this is the calm before the storm, and exactly after their conversation we see the attack starting so we might see a crazy ending to the season

isao is slowly being absorbed by no9, and one of his last thoughts is a wideshot of the defence force. ngl it's a hilarious shot, bc 90% of them is in a helmet/mask, except the division3 rookies. they're just too cool to wear masks ig, their hair too flashy, their friendship too strong lol.

i might have been seeing things, but i swear the kaiju's human form at the end is like kokuro with black hair. speaking of which, pretty sure most of the kaijus mentioned in this ep were inspired by other manga/anime monsters, like the running one was totally annie's titan with a different head

If we're being real, the world of Kaiju No. 8 would be such a hellish nightmare to live in, and it's a wonder that they seem to still have working infrastructure like roads, metros, electricity, and water 😬

(With caveat that "If we're being real" probably isn't fair for an anime).

Whenever I watch this though, it does just feel like it's watching city after city get overrun or destroyed by monsters.
