A solid start, established the characters, the society and the main character's motivation.

A bit of a slow start since we haven't even gotten introduced to the good stuff but the show looks great. Always a major plus when a battle shounen looks this nice because even if the story isn't particularly special, at least the fights will look good and that alone keeps the show entertaining for me.

Chiwa ditching him felt odd. Maybe it’s realistic but usually you see a character close to the Mc believe in him. Granted this might be to make us feel more for Rudo, but it just didn’t make me any more eager because now there’s really nothing waiting for him out there. I am still interested to see how what happens to him in the pit and where he’s supposed to from here.

The kind of beginning that makes you want to rush out and read the original material. Very interesting, the universe has great potential. The protagonist reminds me a bit of Eren at the very beginning lmao I have a feeling I'm going to like him.

You gotta feel for Rugo losing what little he had left to lose so quickly, but apparently he didn't lose much with Chiwa.

The grit and style of this is awesome!

I'm convinced OP doesn't like anything bruh everything is trash or, the new corny internet buzzword, "slop" 💀 I miss when MAL wasn't infested with Twitter buzzwords lol.

Yeah after actually watching the episode I'm even more convinced of this, this wasn't nearly as bad as bro is making it out to be and most of what he's pointing out is just nitpicky shit for the sake of having something negative to say about "the new popular slop of the season" or whatever buzzwords people love throwing around now.

Solid introduction that introduces us to the MC and this world he lives in, and things escalated after he got wrongly accused of murder. As if his life could get any worse, right. I'm not even gonna bother complaining about the CGI trash monster at the end, as I've said before, CGI in anime is very rarely done well and is bad more often than it's good, so it would be a waste of words.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

Take me back to the days before MAL became infested with Twitter's favorite buzzwords.

Yea this was fire, glad I went into this blind so all the twists and turns could grip me. I fucking love a good dark fantasy revenge story, the world, mystery and lore are intriguing and they showed just enough hints about everything to really keep me locked in. Got some plunderer vibes from this with the whole pit set up, but man I didn’t see Chiwa being a Rachel from ToG there at the end 💔

I knew the way this episode was going, either the uncle or chiwa were getting killed. We didn’t really have enough time with buddy for me to be that emotionally impacted, but the criminal justice system in this world is laughably bad. They didn’t even try to get to the bottom of the case, just instantly sentencing Rudo to death. Makes me think this whole thing was a set up, the killer showing up at Rudo’s “execution” is also sus. This probably has some connection to whatever is behind his hands’ appearance

Chiwa turning on Rudo hurts the most because that just shows you she always felt that way deep down about him and was just hiding it. Getting blamed for your dad’s death and then the one person you felt you could be at peace with betrays you. Rudo, we all support your revenge tour

Well this sure was a pilot, there was a lot to absorb here but i gotta say this was pretty unique, sure plotwise you can see where it was going from the get go even if i didn't expect the girl to react like that, opening song is pretty degen which i love, i expect the visual to be as crazy.

Now i still don't get what the story will be but i sure am curious, still i'm not hyping this up too much until a couple episodes release since i'm tired of getting baited by good pilots ruined by the rest of the show

A very straightforward shounen anime premiere with a revenge hook that wants you to have everyone above suffer after Rudo got thrown in the Pit. Like the song at the end of the episode ngl. Reminded me a lot of Deadman Wonderland in a way where Ganta was wrongly accused with murdering but thrown into the wacky ass prison world instead of a trash pit.

Decent first episode. I’m not the biggest fan of the manga from what I’ve read, and I don’t think the anime will be all that great either, but it’s still worth a watch for now. We’ll see how Bones progresses through 24 episodes. The opening slaps though.

Nice to finally see a brand new battle shounen air. And the manga is in the Top 1000, so this should be a good one too (unless it ends up being a butchered adaptation of course). Apparently, this first season will be 2 cours (24 episodes) with no breaks. That's okay, but I really wish it was a long-running anime, so I'm kinda disappointed. Should've given it to Studio Pierrot. The manga is 3 years old, runs in a weekly magazine, and has over 150 chapters and is still ongoing. And we're just getting 24 episodes then have to wait for a second season. And people are like "24 episodes! Nice!". Um, no, it's not nice. 100+ episodes with no breaks would've been nice. Tired of these 1 cour or 2 cour seasons.

Also, Chiwa can go fuck herself for easily believing that he killed his dad, without hearing his side of the story first. Wasn't she close to him? Like, what possible motive would he have to do such a thing like that? She really didn't think that maybe... just maybe... that he didn't do it? She really thinks that when he went home after he gave her that cuddly toy and left, he went to kill his dad? She really didn't think that something doesn't add up or that he would never do something horrible like that? So yeah, they threw an innocent person into the pit. Makes my blood boil.

Also, I guess court trials aren't a thing? No lawyers? No judges? What about being innocent until proven guilty?

Anyway, no action yet (which is fine), so we have to wait a bit more before seeing some action.

Pretty good, I didn't read the manga, but I like the world already, something new. Animation and art are not particularly special, just fine, though we didn't have the actual action yet. 3D is also not as bad as I thought it would be, it even kind of fits this gritty, slumped atmosphere. I like that this shonen from the start is focusing on the story rather than mindless action, and I hope it will be the same in the Pit, 70% story, 30% action.

What a great first episode! I really like the world of Gachiakuta, seeing a big wall separating the two different worlds reminds me of the manga Soloist in a Cage.

I really feel sorry for Rudo, he lost everything he loves. it's time to wait for another character to appear next week.

First episode leaked.

Didn't get your fill of shounen slop with Fire Force last season? Well don't worry, something even worse has you covered this season, from an assistant of Fire Force, no less! It's pretty obvious right off the bat as well lol. Like literally, Rudo is just an edgier version of Shinra. In fact, this whole thing feels like a more try-hard Fire Force overall. The art style and direction turned up by ten and thus make them absolutely vomit-worthy. I get why people like the manga to some extent. I mean, don’t get me wrong, the art there rocks…

…but here? God, everything about the visuals just makes me want to peel my eyes out. Anyway, the whole final scene with Rudo’s sensei or whatever getting killed, and him getting framed and sent to “the pit,” ends with him dropping such a “TufF and AurA liNE” as he falls... like come on. And sheeesh, that pit must really be garbage, because the CGI we saw at the end was 100% GARBAGE. SO yeah, it's a revenge story. Greaattttt. Don't have enough of those do we.

Seriously, even as someone who doesn't like the manga either, just read it over.. whatever this is. Bones really has lost any type of sauce they used to have.

And guess what the only positive thing about this episode was, yeah, not even something visual. Nope, it was the OP song playing at the end. Not just because it meant the episode was finally over, but because damn man, that song is a straight-up BANGER.

Well good thing we won’t have to see you on the next episode! 😃😃😃

Final scene - Rudo being sentenced, I feel like they nailed everything about it, it gives a sense of desperation, of hopelessness, with Rudo spotting the person that killed Regto just before being dropped.

Very promising adaptation, let’s see how it goes from here.

The first episode was okay, nothing surprising. The animation was mediocre at times. I already knew this anime was going to feature the typical clichés of the protagonist seeking revenge, either because he was betrayed or because he was framed for something he didn't do. In this case, it's the latter.
The only notable things would be the soundtrack and the subsequent fights, which I assume will be creative thanks to the main concept of obtaining power from "garbage."

This anime definitely has me interested. Very good first episode (despite the first few replies arguing about that lol), and definitely got me hooked. I'm very excited to see where this goes.

I always love when stories create a world, instead of just chopping some random tropes together, making a basic fantasy map, or using plain ol' Japan. Think HxH, FMA, AoT, and specifically 86 (as right now that seems most similar with the whole "pure/clean" vibe we've got going). Really, really like the effort put in to the world building so far. Hope that continues! (as it is the main thing I enjoyed)

I'm a huge fan of the art style. Yes, it's edgy, but sometimes edgy is good and I think this is a perfect example of that. There are also multiple different styles incorporated into this episode (all of which are done well), which I really appreciate.

I did kinda feel like they were feeding us the backstory w/ Rudo and Regto at the start, but it's a pilot so you gotta do in one way or another.

Overall, very very promising. This is probably going to be the "classic shonen" type show I'm watching this season, along w/ Kaiju No. 8, which I'm happy with. Hopefully I'll continue to enjoy the rest!

I’m terribly sorry for what Rudo experienced. It seems like he got into another world after being sent to The Pit.

Regto’s death was awful, just who is that killer? Also, not even Chiwa believed in Rudo anymore, if everyone knew that he’s innocent…
