| I actually like that Rose's skin was dark in the 2003 version because it helps show the "other" distinctly. But I know lighter skin was her original envisioning/makes sense given the different regions... Other than that, no complaints so far! |

| Cornello tried to play God with that pseudo Philosopher's Stone but he got too committed to the role and let his hubris get the best of him. How he had his plans revealed to the whole city was very satisfying and his downfall literally being God's Fist was really ironic. His machine gun-infused arm would already be a forever reminder of his folly along with the fact that he tried to trick thousands of people but Lust didn't give him the opportunity to taste those lifelong consequences. |

| I've watched the original many years ago and have forgotten most of it. That's why I'm rewatching it now and Brotherhood simultaneously to compare differences between the two adaptations and the manga. And there were quite a few already in the first episode. The biggest being speed, since BH includes two chapters in this episode while FMA made two episodes from it. Overall, I enjoyed the pace of BH more since it didn't add unneccessary fillers like the desert intro, the brothers being chased by villagers and the whole Cain birdie thingy - didn't like that one at all. Lior just dragged on for too long in the old version. Some things it did better though IMO, namely showing Lust scheming in the shadows from the start, giving Rose a better introduction and having Cray shooting Al (more fitting than Rose doing it). Sadly, the first episode kinda ruined the potential revelation of their bodies and the second episode explained human transmutation in length. Thus the scene with the chimera was more impactful in FMA and the manga. But I was happy to actually see the minister executed. This was done well since I loved it in the manga and FMA censored it to death. So both adaptations have their strong points. I prefer the darker atmosphere of the original FMA but also enjoy the funnier scenes in BH (although a bit overdone), e.g. Ed and Al escaping down the hallways was hilarious! Let's see how this continues... |

| Like the second episode, rushed but still enjoyable nonetheless as a summary episode. Good thing I saw the original again before this to get the full meat of this arc although that one felt a bit sluggish too. I do love how the original focused more on Rose's character and the brutality of the result of the transmutation of her lover through the stone, making her more fragile and pained by everything happening. Still, good enough for me. |

| #1 Re-watch That was an amazing episode! The talk about religion and the conversation between Alphonse and Rose was heartbreaking </3 That OST at the end gave me goosebumps! And finally, Lust and Gluttony and introduced!! The only thing I don't like is the comedy in this anime. It was funny in the manga but in the anime it's kinda annoying. 4/5 episode. |
