Well, plenty happened in this episode...

And it seems the Charles took (Stole?) V.V.'s immortality...

Suzaku says not to drugs, so... Hooray for Kallen.

And I can't tell if I wanted Charles to die an Anticlimactic death or not... But I'll just stick with approving of what's going on.

Hmm so I'm kinda confused... wasn't the Emperor already immortal? Because Lulu's bullets had no effect on him, so why does he need C.C.?

-Edit-

So something the Emperor told Lelouch stuck to me, "For you are me, and I am you... Yes, there is only one human in this whole world. Whether it be the past, present, future;, there has, is, and will be but one human in the history of humankind... ", and after a bit of Googling, I came across this piece of writing I had first read a few years ago, it's called The Egg by Andy Weir, you guys should most definitely read it!!

Everything about this episode is great!!

So Geass has different abilities like power to command, reading thoughts, stopping certain time and power to be loved.

This episode answered the most questions like C.C. past and the secret behind contract.

At the end, C.C. With lost memory???? Nooooooo )OoO(
But C.C. Is still kawaii <3

Wow they went full EVA on this one. Trippy visuals over confusing monologues about the meaning of life. As a big fan of the End of Eva (both the movie and the end of the show) this is probably my favorite episode of Code Geass so far. We finally learn about the Emperor as a character. That he despises lies and that was his contract with V.V. Seems a little hypocritical from the guy who literally brain washed his son. But what is this show about if not hypocrisy? And V.V.'s just dead now. He will not be missed smug little bastard. Although I did want to learn more about him. Especially what his deal is with Marianne.

The biggest revelation to me was the nature of C.C.'s contract. Reminded me of that Mitchell and Webb look sketch with the "HAHA YOU HAVE TO DO IT NOW" bit. Especially when the one she made the contract with revealed the truth to her. The flashbacks to little C.C. were so sad. Her ability could have some pretty dark implications. Considering how bruised and battered C.C. already gets in the show, I'm glad they didn't get exploitative with it. Kind of curious what her relationship with the Emperor is. We know he made his contract with V.V. so why would he take her life? How well/long have they known each other? Is he who C.C.'s talking to when she's alone?

I loved Lelouch's line that "When you die with me, you'll die smiling." Very edgy (like you know in the meme sense) but also very effective. I also thought it was pretty dope when Lelouch used the broken glass to Geass the Emperor. Very interesting and exciting episode. Curious what that ending hook is all about. Clearly C.C.'s gone back to her original state. But why? And what are the implications here? Should be fun seeing a different side of her for at least an episode or two.

Can't believe that this episode did not get much recognition, to me this was the best code geass episode yet and completely stomps on all the 14 episodes of R2. We get to know more about C.C. Who was very underdeveloped until this episode. Now I can see why many people are calling her "best girl" xD. We also get a face to face reunion with my personal favorite ship of Code Geass, Ohgi and Villeta! ❤️ It also offered us some mindscrew surrounding the emperor and V.V. And that trippy world. Probably my favorite by far.

so, Charles are no longer have geass, but he become immortal by taking V.V. code. am I right?

what happened to C.C.? I thought she reject Charles and repel her sacrifice right? why did she lost her memories?

did Lelou able to reach final stage of Geass? if yes, doesn't it mean he become immortal too, right?

This episode wasn't bad, but it was to messy trying to mash up so much information.

Notice how Lelouch doesn't have his Geass, I doubt that's because he has his Contact Len on.

I have sooo many questions:

  1. What's with Emperor Charles and CC's "Tango of Death"? I thought only Lulu had the power to kill her?
In the earlier episodes, Charles calls the place a "God Killer", so perhaps it has the power to kill immortal 'Gods' like her. However, wouldn't CC's Code still get transferred to Lulu if she died?
  2. How did CC get amnesia? Did Charles alter her memories with his Geass? Isn't she immune to Geass?
  3. Does CC still have her Code? Couldn't see her forehead, but I'm assuming that she still does, because she didn't die.

I felt vomit rising up when I saw Charles embracing CC like that. Hands off! She's mine!

Much as I found love theme to be cheesy and shouldn't be included in a massive scale anime like CG, I think the writer did a not bad job at portraying and applying it into the cast. The relationship between Ougi and Villeta is probably one of the highlights of this anime given the worldbuilding of CG. They're from different country, culture and even skin color, yet they're deeply attached to each other, though it's all thanks to the convenient amnesia thingy, the way things laid out between them is just something, kind poetic when I think about it, once enemies, now lovers, ignore all the prejudice and hatred in the past and come to terms with reality, not bad.

Next up is C.C, wow her wish sure sounds a bit lame and pretentious at first but when her past was revealed I had to reevaluate everything about her. She's been a long journey, like a hundred years at least and in time forget about lots of things such as emotion, true feelings, kindness, etc. However, as she met Mao and then LL her heart started to open again, but she still has doubts, she cannot risk letting her heart torn apart again like what her predecessor did to her, so she had to keep a distance, or to be more precise, draw a clear line between herself and the contractors.

Throughout the journey between LL and CC, we've seen that these 2 continuously supporting and "bitting" each other, LL doesn't feel comfortable about CC keeping secrets while CC is constantly worried about her goal being jeopardized, yet they never stop backing each other up, entrusting each other to a major degree, etc. Yeah CC is selfish, but think about it her wish really has little impact on LL's plan as a whole, in fact, it even does him more good than bad since he wouldn't have to babysit her anymore, less burden to carry eh. CC is aware of it, which is also why she refused to let him know until the very climax of this episode because it wouldn't make any difference.

However, LL showed that he doesn't simply treat everyone as chesspiece, he does care about his subs to an extent like Kallen, in fact, he wants to understand about those close to him (again Kallen as an example), hence it explains why LL is kind pissed that CC keeps so many secrets to herself despite them being through so many life and death scenarios. So I guess CC does realize this as well which is why she felt hesitated to leave LL in this episode, she has grown too attached to him, it's not about being accomplice anymore, they're officially "friend?" now, a genuine relationship (wait I think I've heard about this concept elsewhere in the modern era hmm)

It's quite funny isn't it, for more than 40 episodes (SS1 included) CG has always been about war, racism, discrimination, or in short, all those negative themes about how harsh life is, then suddenly, "love" popped up out of nowhere and shone bright like a diamond all thanks to C.C. It proves one thing that relationship between human is something should never be taken for granted, whether it be for the sake of your career or scheme, if you understand people then you'll gain more positive result than just treating them as mere tool, as reflected by CC and LL.

TLDR: CC just wanna obtain "true love", dying is just an excuse since she only pretends to give up on the surface but deep inside she desires it and hope a miracle will happen more than anything, which is why she constantly supported LL and never betrayed him, she was hoping that LL would be different and it really paid off.

Cheesy as it may sound, CG sure did a fine job at polishing those themes in a very action-packed manner. Nice job Sunrise.

Norio Wakamoto is such an amazing Charles zi Britannia. I can't get over how amazing he is in this role. Seriously, is Lelouch going to have to mind wipe everyone that participated in this raid? I can see some of them getting PTSD from massacring innocents like this. I almost thought that was too easy (boy, was I wrong). There was no way Lelouch would reasonably be able to just off the final boss like that. I was super worried that Suzaku would actually go through with using Refrain on Kallen, but fortunately, he backed off. So I guess V.V. is dead now? I didn't expect him to die so easily either. I don't understand why anyone would willingly want to be immortal. Immortality sounds awful. Ogi is such a badass. "I want to choose when I die for myself, at least." So fucking cool. C.C. calling Lelouch that hurt me. I never saw C.C.'s wish being to die coming. Makes sense, I guess. Again, immortality sounds terrible. I guess Nunnally has the magical ability to tell if someone is dying by feeling their hand? Cool, I guess. Way to make a stand for yourself, Nunnally. Good shit. Are Ogi and Villetta dead now? C.C.'s Geass is the cutest fucking thing ever. Fuck that Priest lady, though. I thought Charles was going in for a kiss, not gonna lie. What did Nina do, exactly? C.C. lost her memories. That can't be very good. She seems to have reverted to a pre-Geass state.

she lost her memory because she stopped in the middle of the process of giving her code to charles, interrupting the process of passing the code is what made her lose her memory. This episode was crazy and had soo much info, it would be better if you rewatch it to understand more what happened. Have a nice watch.

Rewatching this show for the first time in a long while and in the back of my head I kept remembering that the show goes totally off the rails about halfway through the second season. But I got to around episode 12-13 and it was still interesting and relatively composed. And then this episode. Good lord, this episode. It's like the last fifth of Death Note compressed into 20 minutes. I'm braced for the ending to be an absolute mess but I can't remember how bad it gets or how it could keep getting nuttier for another 10 episodes.

We got some backstory on her. Her wish was to die and Charles was the only one that could do that but she hesitated.

Wow what a mess... I mean, I actually enjoyed this episode quite a bit, but it was such a mess! Too much information and 5 to 7 things happening simultaneously was overkill. They put a bunch of stuff on the blender for this episode.

Did Nina just invent the fucking atom bomb? Granted, it looks more like some type of implosion blackhole kind of bomb than a nuclear fission one, but fucking hell, we get it! She's EINSTEIN!

Also, this show loves the use of amnesia a plot device, doesn't it? This is the 5th time already.

Cool move by lulu with breaking the glass shame Charles has transcended. Holy crap next time someone asks me the meaning of life or what I think it is I’ll tell them to watch this episode. Why was C2 naked in the church I’m not going to complain but that was odd. Upon rewatching Code Geass 3 times including the recap movies, all the plot holes, dumb writing, plot conveniences & contrivances became more apparent.

The Highly praised ending Zero Requiem also makes no sense and feels contrived and forced to gain sympathy for Lelouch

10mins of pathos sequence and the grandiose opera soundtrack sadly can't fix all the plot holes, dumb writing and contrivances.
He could've kept the throne and made change happen differently. Even the upcoming sequels can't fix any of these.
These are irrefutable facts and the people who watched the show for the first time are blinded by the ending.
