FINALLY! Regulus got his ass handed to him. Out of all the sin arch bishops, I hated that guy the most. So satisfying to see Emilia break his face ❤️

Don’t know if I should call Regulus a monster for treating his wives like tools or a psycho for thinking stuff no one else would—feels more like he’s got a screw loose.

Reinhard coming back from the moon and leaving a crater behind? Now that’s some badass energy right there.

Still, I can’t shake off this uncomfortable feeling seeing the Sin Archbishops in the river water. I really don’t want some kind of trigger to happen that ends up reviving the sealed witch.

RIP Regulus. You deserved everything that you got. It was one hell of a satisfying end to him. Emilia went full bang-bang on him. LOL. I enjoyed it a lot. And, all the wives are free now.

Beautiful episode with an extremely satisfying end for Greed. I was smiling like an idiot watching him get pummeled finally, it was great!

And reinhard coming back the way he did was something i predicted the moment that i saw him team rocket towards the moon. This episode was great, very heartfelt and action packed. I'm super excited to see how lust and gluttony are dealt with!

Regulus got destroyed ahaha that was pleasant to see especially thanks to Emilia freezing all the spouses without killing them, she finally got her revenge for everyone including her family but she doesn't know it yet, Emilia throwing punches at him was insane ahah

Banger episode, Regulus finally meets his much deserved and messy end for the suffering he brought to so many people. Loved Emilia's speech, honestly think they did a good job with showing Emilia's character this season despite how many characters are in this arc and how often the spotlight is shifted. I really thought the story was going to go with the darkest route for the wives for the greater good, but i'm really happy they got a happy ending and i'm happy Emilia was able to live without that weight.

I hella enjoy watching Regulus break down like a child during his mid air monologue. I did find it interesting that in his weakest he finally faced the wives he killed and envisioned them laughing at his sorry stated, but i also liked to imagine it also being a kinda 4th wall break as he screams at the viewers to stop laughing at his goofy ahh face and not to think any less of him. Honestly although i wanted him to be a lot more character wise, i'm kinda glad they kept him as this evil egotistical man child to the core that even in his final moments cursed others and hated the fact Emilia was going to win.

The part that hit me the most was Subaru using Unseen hand on Emilia, and Emilia seeing old Petelgeuse. Not only did i find it peak that Subaru was able to use a move that's sullied in a lot of bloodshed for something good, but also Emilia's some what reunion with Petelgeuse made me gasp. Genuinely I think Petelgeuse has one of my most favourite character stories both narratively but as a viewer, I went from hating him in s1 because of how effective his character was to feeling nothing but sadness for him after s2.

Reinhard's re-entry was also one for the books, i didn't actually think Regulus sent him that far into the atmosphere to break orbit and I didn't think he would ricochet himself off the moon leaving a new land mark on it, like genuinely hard core shit.
Also his one liner to deliver the final blow to Regulus was cinema, "I'm a monster that hunts monster."

Man, I don't know about the writing this season...

Glad Regulus can stop his annoying yapping, but dude was so OP and he went down in such a looney tunes way...Emilia unleashing her flurry of punches was funny to see, but realistically speaking as a spirit user, there is no way her fists are trained like that. Should've busted her knuckles...The way Subaru figured out his power was completely out of nowhere too...There's so many constellations....

Also, how is it that Regulus didn't recognize who Emilia was since the past? Pandora clearly knew who Emilia was given that her goal for being there in the past in the first place was to trick Emilia and get her to open the door/seal, so how could it be that Regulus who came with her didn't know! This makes absolutely no sense. We knew Petelguese was specifically targeting Emilia's body as a vessel for Satella, so how could it be that the other sin arcbishops are clueless?

@EinTheVariance Let me answer a couple of your concerns with my non-spoiler novel knowledge or knowledge from Q&As with the author.

Glad Regulus can stop his annoying yapping, but dude was so OP and he went down in such a looney tunes way...

As a reader I'm split when it comes to Regulus. On one hand it was the point that he was just an idiot up until the very end, but at the same time he didn't feel threatening at all in the anime. Anyway...

[...] but realistically speaking as a spirit user, there is no way her fists are trained like that.

Emilia is a half elf and additionally is the individual with the highest mana capacity in the verse.
Magic users can use their (own) mana to reinforce their body. That's how Roswaal was strong enough to obliterate Garfiel and Ram in season 2. With that Emilia isn't far behind Rem w/ horn or even Garfiel in terms of physical strength.

The way Subaru figured out his power was completely out of nowhere too...There's so many constellations....

Subaru used Regulus' name as well as what he knew of his power to be able to guess his relation to the star/constellation. Subaru is a huge star nerd and it'll play a role in the future. Subaru himself is named after the Pleiades. All archbishops are named after stars and all witches are named after celestial bodies, and I can confirm there are more connections to do. Also the stars that appear in the Re:Zero universe sky are different from the stars Subaru was used to see in Japan.

Also, how is it that Regulus didn't recognize who Emilia was since the past?

Regulus and Emilia didn't interact a lot back a century ago. They saw themselves for a minute but that's pretty much it. I wouldn't be surprised that Pandora/the gospel both don't give a lot of information to the archbishops.

We knew Petelguese was specifically targeting Emilia's body as a vessel for Satella, so how could it be that the other sin arcbishops are clueless?

Funnily enough, not all archbishops are fanatics for Satella. Most of them have their own agenda and don't work together at all. What they all share in common is that they follow their gospel and that Pandora seems to act as a sort of leader to them.

But yeah, Regulus wasn't my favorite character either for similar reasons as yours.

@QcDiablo thanks for the clarification!

I understand that Regulus and Emilia didn't interact much if any back then, but Pandora's whole reason for being in the forest was Emilia no? Surely Regulus didn't just tag along without knowing absolutely anything? Even if that was the case, surely he was aware of Petelgeuse targetting Emilia or that she was related to Satella somehow? The attack on Roswaal's mansion involved quite a bit of the cult's people didn't it?

I guess it's all plausible if he didn't know given his personality, but surely some of the other sin archbishop would know and have some reaction to Regulus trying to marry her? I agree that each sin archbishop is in their own world, but they clearly attacked the place together and seem to be after Typhon's remains for some cult goal...

Like sure you can just say that's how it is, but that's what I mean when I said it feels like questionable writing. Even Garfiel completely out of nowhere and randomly/accidentally finding his mom in some unrelated town, due to some unrelated circumstances that led him to save his step sibling out of all people and walked him home....like what are the actual chances this encounter would happen like this...It'd be 100x more believable if it occurred in the shelter...

"Surely Regulus didn't just tag along..."
If I remember correctly he came to get a new wife. It was supposed to be Fortuna, but she died and her number was kept vacant until Emilia became Regulus' No.79 wife. I don't remember if he specifically came for Fortuna or decided on her by seeing her at that moment.

"Surely he was aware of Petelgeuse targetting Emilia..."
I'm convinced he knew that Petelgeuse was crazy about Satella, but I don't think he specifically knew about Emilia. The archbishops don't really cooperate. They only follow their gospel, which sometimes puts them alongside another.

"The attack on the mansion involved quite a bit of the cult."
Surprisingly enough they were all followers of Petelgeuse. I don't think Regulus and the Gluttonies have underling cultists.

"They clearly attacked [Priestella] together and seem to be after Typhon's remains..."
Half and half I would say. Each archbishop was following/guided by their gospel. Whatever they exclaimed as their goal, they did succeed at a few things. The biggest surely being preventing Puck from coming back (which has huge implications but that's a whole new topic.) They also caused new Gluttony victims and Capella victims, which do play a role later.

I don't have much to say for Garfiel. There might have been something about a strong ressemblance between him and the kids in the novels that pushed him to seek his mom, but I might be completely wrong.

That scene was longer and more detailed in the novel (with Subaru doing a parkour escape for a few pages and simultaneously trying to figure Regulus's authority out, all while Regulus was chasing him and destroying buildings left and right), but unfortunately the anime cut it all out.

Wow, great scene with the 53 wives finally opening up and voicing their despise of Regulus, and the one overseeing Emilia sharing her name as well, Sylphy. Now this show can get pretty dark, so really didn't know if they were all going to kill themselves or not. Thankfully not, as Emilia puts her ice expertise to work and puts them all in cyro-sleep to stop their hearts.

Now I know he's been a prominent character but it seems like they're really dragging out Regulus' death (he probably isn't THAT strong, but Reinhard should've sent him to the sun just to be funny since Regulus unintentionally pulled a one punch man and sent Reinhard to the moon which he then used as a jump pad lol)... is bro really gonna die here? Thought he would be the last one to be killed as well, but no he's the 2nd, right after Wrath. Lust and Gluttony are still in battle. Well Gluttony being left makes sense I guess because iirc Subaru has more personal beef with him regarding Rem (forgot exactly how that's related but yeah). As for Lust, well she's best one out of the 4 so no complaints there.

4 episodes left, a lot can still happen. Let's see how it starts to wraps up.
