@Hinaya

First of all, please remove the code in your signature. Currently it's breaking the forum structure...

The main problem is that the signature isn't sliced properly. Look at every of your slices, each slice is 600x139px large and contains lots of white space around the actual image... So you should do the slicing again so that each slice has the correct size.

Then this image:
http://myanimelist.net/signature/HINAYA.png

It's case-sensitive, so the username must be the exact username you have, that is:

http://myanimelist.net/signature/Hinaya.png

Then it will work.

So first make new slices then use the correct history image. Also, BBCode is broken, so save your code somewhere in a text file for backup. It looks like you have forgotten the closing [/url] tag that's why there is this link at the beginning.

I tried but now this is the result

Do I need to edit the MAL part as well? Or I'm committing an editing mistake again? This time I didn't erased the returns or spaces that I found in the assembling tutorial.

The slices are now correct, no additional white space around them. But there's another problem: the slices that you put next to each other must all have the same height. The history image is of height 80px, so the slices to the left and right should have the same height (which they don't have at the moment).

Did you see this tutorial? There you can see that all three images in the middle (left, mal sig, right) have the same height. If you adjust this it should be fine.

Didn't work again *sigh*. Now what should I do with this?

There were not any white lines when I had sliced them but in the sig there are.

The big white line is there mainly because the history image is of height 80px while the two slices to the left and right are of height 78px.

And when I look at these two...

http://i40.tinypic.com/19qzqw.jpg
it looks like there is a small white line at the bottom

http://i39.tinypic.com/wa35lk.jpg
and here at the top

By the way, as I said, please remove the current code from your signature for now... it really breaks the forum structure :/

Edit: Now that I see the full signature, there's another problem:
The history image is too large. I looks like you can't make it smaller than 260px (width), but you can upload a background, so maybe you should again think about how to slice it. This tutorial is very detailed and should help you.

Signature removed as it breaks the forum structure. Maybe try fiddling around in a post first.

Didn't get exactly. I'm a little thickhead in this matter right now. Can you give me the correct code or rectify the code mistake I'm doing again and again?

Maybe you shouldn't add the signature until you solved all slicing problems (for now it's removed, so you don't need to do anything).
The thing is that MAL's BBCode is broken and if you edit your signature, it shows a mix of BBCode and HTML. In some cases it can break the forum structure if you again update your sig with this bbcode/html mix. That's why you should save your bbcode in a text file and every time you edit your signature, use this saved code. Or for now, try it in a post.

So first find out how to make correct slices, I also edited my post above with another thing I saw plus a tutorial which might help you. If you still have problems with the code then, I can give you one that works. But first the images should all fit together.

Do you use a cronjob for updating your signature? I accessed the signature directly and got the updated version which you should also see now. I had the same problem with the cronjob once, it looked like it was working normally but nothing happened. The easiest solution is to set a cache limit in the php file (like 15-30 minutes) and then include the sig.php in the signature, not the cached image.

Well there was a reason for it fixing itself and that was that Luna_ visited your sig.php and updated it manually.

If it's not updating on its own, then it's probably because (like Luna_ suggested) you are linking to the cached image instead of directly to the sig.php that generates the image. Unless something visits that php file regularly, it will not update.

You may have noticed that I link to the cached image as well, but that is because I have a system in place to have Taiga visit the update url for me automatically.

Possibly your request isn't making it out (turn off those torrents/firewalls), is not going to the correct location, or was failing in some way on the server side. You could use a tool like Wireshark to sniff the traffic and see what's actually going on. Just put 'http' as a filter and don't run anything other than Taiga while you're testing. Then find the request to your script, right click, and follow the stream. It should be pretty obvious after that.

One downside of using an application on your computer is that they do sometimes fail. I sometimes notice that my own signature hasn't refreshed due to a failed request. My signature is generated locally on my computer and then uploaded, so it's even less reliable. It's good enough for me though.

In your case you should probably just link direct and let your script do the work, because the time it takes to generate your signature is almost insignificant.

So do we just ask for help here? I think I totally just screwed up my sig ebcause I did not know that it was a choice between recently watched anime and all that. I just thought all sigs by default were the My Anime List logo thing.

How do I customize my sig for my faveortie anime list because having my favoeries in my sig is not an option when I look at the menu thing.

I haven't really messed with signatures before, but can we not actually upload an image on our computer and use that has a background for the default signatures? I checked "use custom background" and it said the image uploaded, but the background is still white. Is that a broken feature or am I doing something wrong?

Choose "Custom Recent Updates" in the drop-down box in your "My Signature" tab. In "width", put how many pixels you want your signature to be. I dunno but that might help you :D

The story goes like this---> a friend of mine made my signature and said to paste the code into signature box. It was working ok, untill I changed my nickname. From this time on new anime just won't replace the old one (however in signature section I can see new titles O.o). How to fix it? Here's the code (used google chrome to obtain it):

And code from my signature section (it was Serduszko back then but changed by its own I quess):

You know, I would to it and put the code back on where it was BUT I took it via google chrome-source button so it was implemented in MAL. I do not know where to put code from 1st spoiler. I only see place in signature section for things in second spoiler.
That's the problem.

Sorry, didn't wasted a time thinking about it xD

So you're saying it got bugged? You changed your name yet MAL recognizes your old one? I guess using a signature script will fix your problem or report the bug.

try removing frames that arent vital, that will reduce the size.

@Eggman9000: I tried removing duplicate and similar frames then reducing color depth but the result is still around 480kb. I guess if it's reduced to maybe 10 frames it might get under the limit and still look okay. Increasing contrast to reduce the level of detail in the image will allow the frames to compress more easily also, but since there is already a lot of dithering in the gif you have I cannot isolate them to reduce the size. In order to get it down to reasonable size without making it ugly as sin, somebody will need to recreate the gif from the original video.

Hello! How do I get just a picture in my signature, I don't want the animes i've watched or anything just whatever image I make, I understand how to get a code and what not but where do I place it.

Do I check off, use a custom background, or do I place the image code somewhere? I'm a little confused. Any help is appreciated thanks!

I believe you're doing it incorrectly, just simply go to:
Community --> Forums

Then near the top there should be
"Welcome [User], you last visited the forums: [time]. To add a signature or avatar, click here"

And the rest is self explanatory

So I literally just joined this site. I wanted to keep track of my anime shows and such as it seems like you can do on here but before going through and finding all the anime shows I've watched and such I decided to get my avatar signature and all that sorted out first just for the fun of it.. I was in a pretty decent mood.. Now I'm rather ticked off. First, it took me forever to get my signature to a file size it would use now I see that it's cut off parts of my signature and I have this black and red text that I cannot seem to get rid of. Now I've tried looking up how to remove it and nothing I've read really makes any sense. I keep getting things about having to slice my picture into five pieces. I don't want to slice my picture into five pieces and try putting it back together. I tried to hide the ad thing and see if that was going to work but it didn't. I want to just be able to upload the picture and have everything be peachy keen like on other sites. So here's my questions.

1. How do I remove the black and red text stating my recently watched anime and then myanimelist url on the top and bottom?
2. Why am I having to slice my picture into five pieces?
3. Is there a way to upload my picture WITHOUT having to slice it into five pieces and how do I go about doing that if I can?

I'm not wanting to have to go through other people to get this done. I'm wanting to be able to do this on my own whenever I so choose so please do give as CLEAR and SIMPLE directions as possible.

edit: Forgot the deactivation part. Is it possible to deactivate your account because it doesn't seem like you can and if you can't, I was wondering why.

On here

Change Image Type to *Recent Anime Updates*
Check out the option box with *Hide "My Recent Anime/Manga Title"*

If none of those solve 2, mess around with the other functions there, as the options there should solve 1 and 2.

For 3, you have the option of simply using a very small signature or slicing the image. There are some sites that are connected to your MAL and will continuously update from that as well, but I don't have any links to those since I don't use any of them.

Not sure about the deactivation part.

you can either slice it up like it says on the first page, or you can script it to get custom fonts like the one in mine. probably the easiest way to do it is to use a sig generator like isig if you don't mind your updates taking a while to refresh
