I think it started with Pokemon for me. I had watched "anime" in the past, but it mostly started with Pokemon and Digimon. As the years went buy I continued to have an interest in anime, and my tastes changed as I did. Now I watch almost exclusively Harem and Slice-of-Life with a bit of Psychological/Horror on the side. XD

Like most other boys who were in grade school during the 90s.

Pokemon and DBZ.

The first anime I got dedicated to catching though was probably Yuu Yuu Hakusho.

Dragonball Z. I quit anime for a long time though after that, and when I came back to it (about a year ago I guess), the first anime I saw was Cowboy Bebop.
I'm back.

like everyone, i started with young age with sailor moon, pokemon, dragon ball, rurouni kenshin, all dubbed in portuguese, awesome!!, especially the dragon ball dubs... i still laugh my ass off when i hear them!

it was only when i rewatched Rurouni Kenshin that i became more interested in anime....then i saw a post in a forum of Rurouni Kenshin, that said that a guy in belgica or something had killed a person and left a note saying " I am Kira", then i watched death note, and ....

an otaku was made! and i thank Haruhi for that xD

The first anime series I watched I think were Future Boy Conan and Captain Future at age 3 or 4, though obviously I just treated it as yet another cartoons, albeit ones of higher quality than the rest.

The first anime series I watched *aware* of the fact that there was such a thing as anime, I believe it was Saint Seiya at age 10 or so. Didn't give me a good first impression of the genre, though.

And the anime that truly got me into the whole 'anime scene', if you can call it that, was of all things Dragon Ball GT around age 14. I was already a huge DBZ fan from watching it on TV, but having to actually go to a video store and purchase the episodes to watch it made me take a long, hard look at other anime series such as Evangelion et al, and that's where I truly became an anime fan.
No problem is insoluble in all conceivable circumstances.

About two years ago I saw an Inu Yasha gif and I thought it was really funny, so I started watching it. I only watched 15 episodes, but I totally loved it and bought some of the mangas too. And then it just continued, lol.

When I was just a little girl, I watched Sailor Moon and Candy Candy :P
And when my little brother insisted on watching his favourites, I had to watch Pokemon, Beyblade, Captain Tsubasa etc. :P

But a year ago, I stopped insulting my Japanese-loving anime freak friend and watched Death Note. (She was talking about L all the time :P )
And I loved that anime. Afterwards, she recommended me to watch Bleach and here I am, in My Anime List :P

Well, beside animes that I watched on TV when I was younger (like Pokémon), I started with Naruto, and gained some money with it!

Let me explain it. My best friend at school was obsessed by Naruto, and he just kept talking about it. I didn't want to hear it. You know, some stupid story about a stupid foolish boy. Well, it was Christmass 2007 when he really wanted me to see at least 1 episode. I hadn't the intention, but when he gave me €5 to watch just 3 episodes, I decided to take te deal. And so, I watched the first 3 episodes of Naruto, gained €5 and kept looking Naruto. I watched it over a very long time because I sometimes wanted to break, you know, 'games' :). But after a marathon of 40 episodes (1 day), I finished it, and then started to watch some other animes.

Yes, try to do that, get paid to watch anime 8-)

I have always loved the way anime pulls me into an escape from reality and into a world where anything is possible. I suppose this started when I watched cartoons as a kid and then ran across "Ninja Scroll" in middle school and was taken by jap anime ever since.

QFT.

I started off like many others with the afterschool Toonami block. My favorite was Sailor Moon! <3 But I also enjoyed watching Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Reboot, DBZ very very occasionally... :D But really Sailor Moon is what did it for me.

From watching Pokemon on the WB and Sailor Moon on Toonami, everything else went from there. Most of my beginning experiences with anime where through whatever Toonami was airing at the time(DBZ, Sailor Moon, Tenchi, Gundam series, etc.) and the limited amount of anime vhs tapes that where located at my local blockbuster. I used to save up my allowance in order to buy DBZ vhs tapes at Walmart xD.

The first anime was pokemon or dragonball...not sure really - i didn't even knew that these things were and are called anime, back then at least.

I found out normally about anime like a year ago?2 years ago? not sure about that either. Can't remember how I started, or why I started watching. Probably influenced from a friend of mine, or I got curious from different kind of pictures that I run into when I was browsing the internet.

I've been a fan of oversized robots since way back, Transformers being my favorite show as a kid, and thus I ended up watching bits and pieces of Robotech as well. In high school some friends were into anime so I saw snippets of Trigun and was loaned some DBZ tapes (which I actually enjoyed way back then)

Eventually I figured I'd see Robotech all the way through and find out what all the fuss was about regarding some more widely-known anime titles like Cowboy Bebop and Trigun. Things just ballooned out of proportion from there, and then foolishly paying for Bleach and Naruto on ebay led me into the world of torrents and fansubs and all hell broke loose.

Watch Macross, fuck Robotech.

One day 3 years ago while searching for Heroes episodes online, something called 'Detu noto' came up and it looked kinda weird. I decided to watch it, but after the first episode I stopped since it was anime, and I couldn't watch that sort of stuff...but then 6 months later I found out a friend of mine had seen it, and he convinced me to start watching, that's when it all started:p

As a kid I watched some swedish-dubbed Pokémon, Sailor Moon and Beyblade on TV, without knowing it was anime at the time.

Anyways, I'm not sure when I watched my first anime. I think I was 13 years old (I'm turning 18 in november), and I remember it was on a LAN-party and the anime was Elfen Lied. That's when I fell in love with anime and started watching the mainstream shows like Naruto, Bleach, Death Note etc..

Now I've seen up to 100 animes and still going strong, not thinking of stopping. I love anime. ^^

5 years ago I found a store in the mall that just sold manga, It was one of those small stores in the middle of the hall hallway of the mall. I recognized a few series that I've seen on cartoon network like Cowboy Bebop and FLCL that I've watched a few episodes from. After I bought them, it just took off from there.

Way before, I used to watch shows like Sailor Moon, Pokemon, And Dragon Ball Z. But I didn't really have an interest for anime yet.

When I was a baby, my parents rented My Neighbour Totoro for me and apparently they let me watch it a lot since I "reacted well" to it. As I got older, I actively asked them to watch it.

Used to watch anime on the TV as well, though I knew they weren't cartoons (didn't know they had a name; just knew they weren't cartoons). Voltron, "Tecnoman", and several grown up ones like Street Fighter, Ghost in the Shell and Ninja Scroll.

Then Pokemon came and changed my young, impressionable life.

Let's see. When I lived in the Philippines, anime wasn't even in my vocabularly. Yet, I enjoyed watching the likes of Voltron and Diamos in the 80's. Let's not forget Voltes V.

When I moved to the states, I enjoyed those Saturday morning cartoons. Fun stuff. Good ole' TMNT and others.

Went to a Blockbuster video once - and saw a section just for anime. Decided to check 'em out. Stuck with anime since. Yet, I'd enjoy some Animaniacs and Looney Tunes once in a while.
