| I totally vote samurai. I love the soppy samurai things like honor and The Code, and I am a big fan of Meiji-ish period pieces. I don't think a ninja has ever broken my heart. |

| Ninjas. They become aware of their surroundings in a fight, and are more agile. Besides, a samurai couldn't go on a one-on-one 'fight' with a ninja. The ninja would take them out from the shadows....And no, we're not talking Naruto ninjas....Believe it. |

| Ninja were said to have mysterious powers aside from their mere arts of trickery. Basically magic. You can see this played out in the anime Naruto. While Samurai were just soldiers. Which is why anime and manga and videos more often portray Ninja with more magical powers while they often portray Samurai with more mere physical powers. Though you could if comparing Ninja other things, that if Samurais are soldiers, Ninjas are secret agents, mercenaries, or any other similar field that works on intelligence and in any background field of an operation as to use trickery. I forget where all I have read this, but it has been claimed that ninja did or were believed by many or a vocal some, that ninjas had mysterious or "magical powers", whether you believe this or not, is up to your own view of the supernatural. For instance, Jiraiya, a character you may well know from the Animated series Naruto or comic book, is one Ninja claimed by ancient Japanese sources to have magical powers. And a basis for the ideas of Ninjutsu in Naruto. Despite all the people going "lol Naruto is weird Ninjas didn't have powers like that" is about like saying "lol Super Book is so weird, Moses couldn't have parted the water". All a matter of perception and how you interpret historical record. And according to legends, Ninjas WERE a lot like wizards. Speaking of which I need to add Super Book to my list, it's considered an anime. To me, the idea of studying Ninjutsu is a fanciful idea, but so is Kendo. I think for a full on well rounded martial art though, Ninjutsu is a well favorable martial art to Kendo or any other swordfighting. And I have more fond memories of Ninja than Samurai. One can't forget that the Ninja can use the katana, one of the most interesting and endearing parts of the Samurai life. I'm gonna go with the Mystic Ninja. |

Than can you explain me why 80 % of the samurai's you see in anime ( at least since movies totally forget about ethics ) are just people with power that do what ever they want with no regards for anyone else ? * poke's Rurourin Kenshin anime specially or Samurai Champloo or Blade of the immortal ... i kind of doubt that japanese people would tarnish their own ~ proud ~ history like this if there were no facts behind also ... but i may be wrong also :P since its just a presumption * |

| How about "neither"? Samurai: The code of Bushido is getting outdated now. Most people are not willing to risk their lives for their country, regardless of the situation. The idea of wielding a katana and a kodachi in battle is no longer effective in the age of guns. I would pick "samurai", if it currently the Meiji era, but it isn't. Ninja: Aside from the cool concept from anime and manga, the role of ninja is to act as either data collecting agents or simple assasins. If you look at it realistically, its nothing cool at all. The reason why ninja had to master stealth abilities because of the danger of collecting data in enemy territories and the idea to run away with the least amount of injuries is vital. More over, to carry out assasin missions, the ninja must be in top condition, mainly one capable of launching speedy attacks and defends. If I have to pick one, it will be samurai though. |

| Oooh, that was a hard decision. I like how ninja have the powers and can kill you from the shadows, but samurai rely only on their physical abilities to fight, plus the scene of two opponents clashing swords was always cool. In the end I chose ninja. Always have been a fan. It's true that Naruto may come off as a bit childish at times(especially the english dub) but it has it's serious moments. Plus there are more ninja anime out there. Basilisk and Ninja Scroll are both serious, violent anime series that are in another group altogether. |

| I'm gonna have to go with Samurai, based on the fact that I never acquired a taste to Naruto vs. my high enjoyment of Samurai Champloo. I also like Samurai in actual movies too; they have a habit of being portrayed as really bad-ass. The only thing that would make me wanna go with Ninjas more would be Ryu Hayabusa, or more in particular the Ninja Gaiden franchise, but that's just one thing so...Samurai! =P |

| Ugh, this one's tough. -_- Hmm, I do find ninjas cool (they scream BADASSERY, people) and I adore 'em for that but...they kinda suck lately (Naruto, anyone?). Going with samurais on this one, I guess. |
