| I thought we'd already hit rock bottom at the end of TG as Kaneki seemed to come to the apparent conclusion of his character arc, but I had no fucking idea how utterly fucked up his life had trully been up until now. The revelation about his mom's true self somehow manages to hit even harder than Jason's torture, because we learn that all we'd been told up until now was nothing but a bunch of lies born from the deluded mind of an abused child. Kuroneki, Shironeki, Sasaki... all personas were just coping mechanisms made in response to the real Kaneki's psychological state. In the end he trully was the protagonist of his favorite novel all along; only the Black Goat was not Rize but Kaneki's actual mother. And his ghoulification was but the triggering factor of his inevitable descent into madness. Just like in the novel, the apple fell too close to the tree: there was never any salvation for Kaneki Ken, because he was cursed from the very beginning. We've been fooled, guys: Kaneki's not coming back, cause he was never there to begin with. We're meeting him for the first time next chapter. |

| This chapter really blew my mind and Ishida has done an amazing job foreshadowing it. Especially the fact that his mom beat him. Remember the chapter where Urie talks with the doctor who says that the ones who are beaten more get stronger and then he said that Haise was a good example of that ? It's not only because of him getting beaten a lot after becoming a ghoul but also because of his mom. The suffering never ends yet I don't want to get off this wild ride. It's been a while since I last read TG:re but goddamn did it pick up since that last time, love it! |

| At this point, i can't really figure out if kaneki's mom was evil or good as the story took a tragic turn this chapter with panel of kaneki's mother beating him. Goodbye Sasaki Haise...Kaneki is DONE DREAMING!! |
